When the subjects see the images of their tattoo-free skin, their reaction is emotional and powerful.

It is with extreme sadness that we share the news that Gwen Ifill passed away earlier today surrounded by family and friends. Gwen was one of America’s leading lights in journalism and a fundamental reason public media is considered a trusted window on the world by audiences across the nation. Her contributions to thoughtful reporting and civic discourse simply cannot be overstated. She often said that her job was to bring light rather than heat to issues of importance to our society. Gwen did this with grace and a steadfast commitment to excellence. Our sorrow at her passing is a part of our profound gratitude for all that she did for our system and our nation. It was an honor to know Gwen and to work with her. All of us at PBS express our sincere condolences to Gwen’s friends and family.

The Hairstyles of Key & Peele
Amanda Mofield, department head hairstylist for the Comedy Central show, “Key & Peele,” did 32 different looks for the first East/West College Bowl skit. “We did three of those [sketches], so I had [96] of those characters that they had to be,” said Mofield. “So whatever hair I could find, we would throw it together.”

Here are a few things we’ve learned so far:
1) People are decidedly average about Milky Ways.
2) They REALLY dislike Tootsie Rolls.
and 3) Although there are (pretty evenly!) mixed views on Jelly Bellies, there’s an overwhelming dislike of generic jelly beans.
Then again, the survey’s still open. The more responses we get, the more our eventual findings could change. Let us know your thoughts — you know, for science.

We asked second graders on a field trip to @kpcc last week what they would like to be when they grow up. Their responses — some written, some drawn — were creative, colorful and occasionally surprising (ventriloquist?!?). Check them out and try not to be overcome by their cuteness.

If I had to pick one, I would pick Donald Trump, because I feel like any bills that he would try to pass would just be shut down immediately.
