Draft submissions are open until Saturday 29th November, 16:00 UTC. Your work needs to be 50% done to be submitted. If you missed the check-in but would still like to submit a draft, contact us for a late check-in.

We've updated the schedule to be more flexible and forgiving on everyone (mods included). However, this mean that claims open a week later than originally planned.

When it comes to fanart, is there a requirement for how large a piece must be? And what about traditional art, is submitting a picture of a physical piece allowed?

On another note, is there a talent requirement? Are artists expected to have a certain level of proficiency with their art, or just any creations submitted in general?

One of the equivalents for 20k would be 5 full-page pieces of fanart (drawn, detailed, colored, with background). For something on paper, a page could be an A4 sheet, but since art varies so much in technique and resolution, feel free to interpret it however makes the most sense for what you have in mind. In general, if what you have in mind isn't in the list, you can aim for at least a comparable amount of effort overall and you'll be good. Does that answer your question?

All fanwork media/types are welcome! Including painting, crochet, sculpture, ... For all these, you'd take pictures that you'd post on ao3.

NSFW content is allowed. You must be 18 or older to create explicit sexual content for this challenge. Draft/claim information will contain the max rating for each work.

Hi, I was looking through the rules on ao3, and I was wondering what the reasoning behind 20k at the minimum effort level was? This is mainly because that seems like,, a lot to me, and I've only ever seen a maximum of 10k for the minimum on a BB before.

I really wanna participate, I just don't know if I can do 20k

Thank you for your ask!

The reason for 20k was that it's what I've seen most often in other big bangs. I think we might just not hang out in the same fandoms!

I'm sorry if that's too much. If you'd like to participate, but aren't sure, here are a few options:

Sign up anyway and wait until draft summaries are due to see if you'd rather attempt it solo, submit a draft, or drop out. There are absolutely no consequences for dropping out if you aren't paired up with a response creator!

Sign up as a response creator! The minimum in that case is 2k, in about 3 months.

See if mixing formats might help: do you draw, or podfic, or do fanmixes, or moodboards, or anything else? You could write a 10k fic and add other elements to it to make up for the other 10k.
