One of my favs hc about Movie!Sonic is that he's terrible at romance. But he's not just bad at it because he's emotionally traumatized, but because of how he's been socialized.

Sonic was raised by pop culture here on Earth. And movies, TV shows, and media in general tend to approach romantic love and relationships as bombastic events, grand gestures, and overwhelming feelings, etc. So I imagine him seeing real romances like Tom and Maddie and kind of taking a while to connect the dots because real, everyday romance is mundane and simple and different from the drama he's seen. And this ties in with my other HQ that Sonic doesn't realize his crush on Amy because his feelings for her have the opposite effect on him. Fast heartbeats? That's how he usually is. But with Amy, his heartbeat slows down instead because he finds peace and comfort in her, and it confuses him. Anxiety around his SO? Nah, he's Amy, they're joined at the hip. Misunderstandings? Amy would drag him into a conversation by force. Just...Sonic having a devastating crush on Amy and him swearing that is friendship™ because besides the emotional trauma, legitimately his feelings are not how he learned what a crush is supposed to be (although yes, everyone knows except the two of them and Tom and Maddie go help their poor dense son)

THIS! Just…YES TO ALL OF THIS. Not too different from canon Sonic, but that's more so because of him not realizing Amy’s love for him was NEVER to slow him down, but because she loves him FOR WHO HE IS. Movie!Sonic just needs to recognize what romantic love is while canon Sonic needed to know what it means.
