This is my absolute all time favourite classic Indian Pale Ale, the Punk IPA ( a post modern classic pale ale as they call it) from Brewdog in Scottland. This sure is a punk amongst beers. Best to start with if you want to change over from boring lager beers (don't get me wrong they can be good to get drunk and drink a lot of, but I find them rather boring in taste) As soon as you open the bottle there is an explosion of fruitiness, it always reminds me of sweet berries an peach. I still haven't figured out every aroma there sure are a lot.

It has a nice pale amber to golden colour and is also naturally cloudy. The foam is creamy and quiet stable for an IPA.

The taste is just awesome! The fruity flavour is also dominant in taste,especially mango, which is carried by a moderate sweetness. It has a quiet balanced biterness for an IPA but it fits well. The body is not too heavy so it is pretty refreshing They used four diefferent Hops for this beer: Chinook, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Nelson Sauvin Whenever you get the chance to have this beer, try it! ABV: 5.6% IBU: 45

This time it’s the Hopfenstopfer ‘ Incredible Pale Ale ‘ a ‘Quad Hop Craft Beer’ from Germany (Same company that did the Citra Ale).

Unfortunately this one is not as special as the Citra Ale.

The smell is mainly tropical fruits with a little citra and grapefruit and some hoppy flavour. The aroma is fine but not that intense as I smelled it on other IPA’s.

It has a nice amber colour and is natuarally cloudy with a nice stable foam.

Since it hast a original Wort of P15 and 6.1% ABV the body is much more fuller and sweeter than the Citra Ale and with 55 IBU it has more than twice as much bitter units. The bitterness is great though and it harmonizes well with the body. The four hops they used were Hallertauer Taurus, Hallertauer Saphir, Cascade and Nelson Sauvin.

A solid IPA but as I said, not that special.

This one is the "Hopfenstopfer" (means 'dry hopper') "Citra Ale" from Germany. The name says it all. As soon as you open the bottle you smell hardcore citrus amongst other fruity smells like lime and elder. (You could almost think you smell at a lemonade) The foam is quite creamy, the colour is rather pale and naturally cloudy. The taste is also dominated by citrus and fruity flavours. It has a full body and the biterness is quite moderate. It was single hopped (and especially a lot dry hopped) in every step with the 'Citra' hop. The taste is solid to good, the strong citrus smell is what makes it special! Specs are: P12 (original wort), 5.1%ABV, 25IBU (Bitterunits, for example a typical pilsner style Lager has about 30-40 IBU)

My sister brought me this bottle of single hop IPA with Simcoe hops from the Canadian ‘Brassneck’ brewery. Really solid IPA, sweet,mild, honeylike taste with great citrus aroma from the hops but not too bitter. Apparently you could just refill your bottle at the brewery, as you liked. I wish there was more stuff like that in Germany. Since this was filled by my sister at the brewery I don’t have much more information about the beer (might be the “one trick pony” with 9% ABV). But I know where to go if I ever visit Vancouver.
