what is with the hand-wringing on whether the acolyte will be “pro-jedi” enough?? still don’t get it. stories need character conflict. and if the jedi are portrayed as more flawed in this show than canon i think that’s fine! they’re not real.
Are we not supposed to be critical of the guys who fought as generals in an army of disposable sentient clones? What the hell are we even doing here guys?
I could literally write essays about this since the Jedi Order and the pro-Jedi agenda is My Thing™ in the Star Wars lore, but based on my current amounts of energy and fucks to give, I'll just say: no, we're not.
The "Jedi-critical" rhethorics is a mixture of bullshit fanon and even more bullshit bad-faith takes that completely ignore the inspiration from Eastern religions and reframe the Order as "space Catholics who forbid love and emotions". That was never the idea. That "Jedi were ackchyually bad and corrupt and lost their way and deserved their genocide" rhethorics was made up by edgy fanboys who can't accept a space opera meant for kids isn't That Deep, and currently perpetrated by a certain Cowboy Hat Man who cares more about the amount of aforementioned fanboys that crawl up his butthole than about actually following and respecting the established story.
If you need to criticize something so badly, criticize the Republic. The Republic was corrupt from the inside, influenced by a Sith. The Jedi were practically drafted by the Republic, and they agreed to serve as generals mostly to minimize both clone and civilian casualties. I'm pretty certain there are better ways to create conflict than butchering a faction of people who were meant to be unambiguously good guys from day one.
(Yeah, I'm aware most of the Tumblr enjoys Star War ~sooo ironically~ and now I'm the loser who's getting riled up over glup shittos. No need to point out.)
