Hey just wanna clarify, is making fanfic and fanart of HP also a no-go too? And that it's best to purge any references to HP? Should we also block known HP fanartists and writers?

I, personally, don't think you should be making fanart or fanfic of HP. I was previously part of the fandom, and I deleted my posts once I changed my mind on that. Whether or not you make fanart or fic is your own choice, and whether or not you purge references to HP is your own choice. If you're uncomfortable with fans, definitely block them, but like, nobody's checking your blocklist!

There are reasons to leave the fandom: J. K. Rowling has stated that she takes any participation in the fandom/consumption of HP as endorsement of her transphobic views. Some trans people are uncomfortable around people the HP fandom, because of this, and because of the direct harm that JKR has caused. There's a lot of bigotry in the worldbuilding, most notably antisemitism and racism. A lot of people argue that even if you are not giving money directly to JKR, you are giving her the visibility that allows her to make money.

I don't make the rules about participating in the fandom, and I cannot declare you Morally Correct or A Good Trans Ally. It's up to you.

parents are allowed to straight-up torture their kids with zero consequences. they can withhold food and water, lock you out of shelter, confiscate your belongings, bar you from human contact, attack and harm you and exert complete control over your physical appearance. and this is just the norm. if you speak out against it you're seen as a delinquent or a predator. even otherwise progressive people get uncomfortable with the idea of dismantling the nuclear family unit because they still see it as the best way to keep kids safe when that simply couldn't be further from the truth. it's evil.

I love how filmbros are constantly pushing Ellen Ripley as "a good, well-written female character unlike all those woke DEI females in today's movies" while... can you imagine if Alien was released today?

It's movie where a butch-ish lesbian, whose partner is a trans woman, outsmarts an alien menace while men around her die in droves and ultimately becomes a sole survivor. All while being extremely competent and badass about it, with no intention to be cute or Hollywood pretty. I can't even FATHOM the shitstorm that'd be unleashed if it was released today. The only reason she fares as a "good female character" for them is because they saw Alien as children when their brains were not yet rotted by the current internet bigotry.
