But I have returned to give you a Daryl oneshot. This is my first time writing for Daryl so I'm praying it's good. Im gonna let you read now...

Everyone in the trailer park knew there was something odd about the Dixon’s trailer. But no one really knew what happened after dark when Daryl and Merle’s father drank too much and became wreckless, except for you. You'd seen the aftermath of the horrors inside that trailer. How Daryl was always left with new bruises and cuts all over him. And due to his father. He's back at your door waiting in the cold rain for you to let him in.
"Daryl? What are you doing out there? Come in here. You know you don't have to wait outside." You usher him inside, the light hitting his face in just the right spot for you to see the new bruise forming on his cheekbone. As soon as he sees your eyes widen his head turns away, "Didn't have nowhere to go..."
But when his head goes down, it's immediately being gently brought back up by your hand, his eyes unable to meet yours. "Daryl? Can you look at me? Please?" His head hesitantly lifts. That's when you see how bad it really is, the pink and purplish bruise spreading over his eye, how swollen it is compared to the other eye. "'S nothin'.. It's been worse. Jus' needed to get out..", he mumbles. You place a hand on his other cheek, so you can get a better look, "That doesn't make it okay Dar. He still hurt you. Now c'mon I'm giving you some dry clothes." He looks down at his soaked shirt and dripping shorts, his shoes squishy from the rain. "Nah, 's okay I'll sit on the porch out back. Don't want ya givin' me any clothes ya might not get back." Then he feels his hand being pulled towards your room in the back of your trailer.
He lets you lead him till the smell of your candles hits his nose. You watch as he relaxes a bit. Not a lot. But enough. "Here, you left these here last week and I washed them for you. And here's one of my shirts, it's not exactly stylish but it works."You give him a light smile and hand him the folded clothes. He looks at the clothes then to the floor, "Are ya sure?" You gently grab his hands and put the clothes in his arms, "I'm sure. Now change while I go get you some ice" He watches you leave and shut the door.
He sighs and looks around the room, looking at how each and every decoration is exactly you. The pictures of you and him all throughout the room. Eventually he finally decides to change into the warm, dry clothes. The smell of your shirt brings a wave of comfort over him.
As you're standing in the kitchen area filling the icepack with ice the door to your room opens. You turn your head to see Daryl nervously biting his lip, he holds his wet clothes out in front of him, “Where do ya want me to put these?” You close the icepack and trade him the ice for the clothes, “I’ll take them and hang them to dry. Make yourself at home Dar, no one will be back home for another few hours. So we got everything to ourselves. I’ll hang these and be right back.” You turn to the laundry room and return to find Daryl sitting on the edge of the couch.
“You know you can relax, right?” You move to grab a blanket and sit with him, stretching your legs out to rest on the coffee table. He looks to his hands fidgeting with the icepack, “I know.” You lean forward to see him better, “daryl?” You place a gentle hand on his back, “You’re safe. He can’t get you here. Now come on, let's sit back so you aren’t hurting your back” He remains sitting there, his gaze still fixated on the ice, "I'm sorry I keep running here like this.. I don’t wanna be a burden to ya or anythin’..” You place a hand over his, “Daryl. There is nothing to be sorry for. You ran somewhere safe. And the fact you ran to me especially means a lot to me. You mean a lot to me. So I could never see you as a burden. You’re my best friend. I will always be open to helping you. You know this.” You dip your head down to see his face, “I’ll always be here for you.” You see a tear drop onto your hand, then his shoulders tense up like he’s afraid that something is going to come at him. You gently squeeze his hand, “Daryl? Can you look at me? Please..”
His head falls into your chest, his shoulders shaking as he sobs. Your arms immediately wrap around his body, you hold him there for a few minutes before leaning back with him. You start to gently rub his back, his sobs start to slow and his breathing evens out, “I’m sorry..” he mumbles. You gently put a hand on his cheek so you can see his face, his cheeks shiny from tears, his stormy blue eyes look so tired. You wipe the tears from under his eyes, careful of his bruise, “It’s okay. You don't have to be sorry. It’s what I'm here for. Okay?” He leans into the touch and nods, “Thank you..” You softly smile at him, “You’re welcome. You mean so much to me. I'd do anything if it meant you'd be safe.” He sniffles and a quick, subtle smile forms on his face, “Me too..”
You readjust your arm around his back and he winces, “Hey, You okay?” “Yeah, probably jus’ a bruise or somethin’”, he shrugs. A worried look forms on your face, “Can I look?” He nods, “I guess so.” You lean forward with him and gently lift his shirt off, that's when you see a few fresh cuts on his back and shoulders. “Oh Daryl.. These aren’t deep so it’ll be quick to patch up, alright? I’ll be right back.” You get up and go to your room to snag your first aid kit and quickly return to Daryl. You sit and get your things situated, “You know this, but it may burn a bit when I clean them. Okay?” He lets out a hum of approval and that's when you get to work cleaning the cuts, little hisses of pain slipping from between his teeth. “It's over okay? I just have to cover them so they don’t get dirty, okay?” He sighs in relief, “Finally, that hurt like hell.” You chuckle, “Oh come on. It was just hydrogen peroxide. You’ll live you big baby” He laughs, “Whatever.” You finish covering the cuts up and helping put his shirt back on. You smile, “There ya go. All done.” He leans back on the couch, “Thank you, ya didn’t have to do all tha’” You lean back with him, “It’s no big deal. I’d rather help you now than have to help you with infected cuts later. But I’d still help you either way.”
The sweet moment is ruined by a harsh knock on the door. Causing both you and Daryl to jump. You look to the door and back at Daryl, “I'll get it. You can get comfy and pick a movie to watch. Okay?” He nods and grabs the controller, you stumble over your shoes by the couch, earning a snort from Daryl. “Oh shush. Don't act like you've never tripped,” you playfully jab at him. You finally get the door open and the person neither you or Daryl would've expected to be on the other side was there.
“Have you seen my baby brother? He ran off earlier and he's not where he normally goes. And I know you two are basically love birds. So where is he?” Merle tries to peek around into the trailer. You see the way Daryl stares at the door frozen, the wide eyed stare he has at the sound of his brother. “First off. Love birds? That’s disgusting. I could never be with him, he’s my best friend. And no, I haven’t seen him. Not since the party you threw yesterday. Why? Do you need him?”, you huff. Merle’s eyes glare into you, “Don’t give me an attitude girlie. I know you know where he is. Now spit it out.” You scoff, “Get out of here Merle. I'm serious. I don’t know where he is. And if I did, I’d tell you. Now get off my steps.” Merle clenches his jaw and lets in a harsh inhale before he turns around mumbling something along the lines of “lying bitch” You sigh and shut the door, shaking your head in disbelief, “Damn he’s difficult.” Daryl scoffs, “Tell me ‘bout it. ‘S my brother.”
You plop yourself back down on the couch next to him and observe his bruised eye, you gently move his hair away from his eye. He turns his head to look at you, “Wha’ you do that for?” You smile at him, “I just wanted to see your face. Have you even put that ice on it yet?” He chuckles, “Once, before you opened the door.” “Well why’d you take it off?”, you giggle. He smiles back, “I dunno.” “How do you not know? You’re surely something Dar. That’s all I can say,” you shake your head at him.
He stares down at his lap till he finally glares at you, “Did you mean what you said ta Merle earlier?”. “What do you mean? What did I say?”, you give him a puzzled look. He scoffs, “ya said that the idea of us as love birds was disgusting. Ya also said ’I could never be with him.’ Do you really think tha’?” Your smile drops, “Oh.. Daryl. I- I never meant that. I swear.” He stares at his hands, “So then what? What do you really think of me? Huh?” You stare at him, “I- Daryl-” He interrupts you, “Don’ lie to me. Lay it flat. I don’ wanna keep thinking somethin’ that ain’t true.” You stare down at your hands and start to fidget with them, “I don’t think any of that. I lied to Merle in hopes he would back off.. I- I like you Daryl. I really do. You’re the only person who I can actually talk to.. Everyone else is just- They suck. They’re judgemental. But you? You’re so much better and I just never knew how to say it.. I didn’t exactly plan my confession coming out like this but at least it’s out...”
He glances up at you, “M’sorry.. I just-” His gaze flicks to me now picking at my fingers. He grabs my hand, “Quit tha’ you’re gonna make yerself bleed.” You look up to see his eyes are already on you. “So then.. How do you feel about me Daryl?”, you nervously spit out. He squeezes your hand for leverage, “I like ya.. More than I probably should. Ever since I started comin’ over to ya and you’d help me with no judgement. Ya never saw me as the boy who gets beaten at home. You’re the only one who treats me like a human. And I’m tired of pretending every time I see you it feels like nothing else matters.” You just stare at him, “Wow.. And we’ve both been sitting here feeling the same way without either of us knowing..” I weave my fingers in with his. He lets out an amused huff and looks down to your hands, “Yeah.. So now wha?” You lean your head in until the tops of your heads are touching. “It’s up to us what we want to do next. We could be a couple.. Or we could stay friends.. But I can’t lie.. The idea of us being together makes me nervous.. In a good way.” His thumb rubs the top of your hand, “Me too. So then.. That's it? We’re together?” You both look up at each other at the same time. You smile, “I guess we are. Me and Daryl Dixon are dating...” He smiles, his eyes quickly shoot down to your lips and back up to your eyes. You smirk, “What are you looking at there Dixon?” He smirks back, “Nothin’.” He catches your eyes do the same. He nervously chuckles, “I’ve never done nothin’ like this before.” You squeeze his hand, “I have.. A few times. It’s simple.. Just- trust m-” You’re cut off by the feeling of his warm, soft lips on yours. Your eyes flutter shut as he cups your cheeks with his hands. You tangle your hand in the back of his hair and hold his jaw as well. He eventually breaks the kiss for air, he softly gasps for air. “That was.. Amazing..,” he admits. You rub his cheek with his thumb, “I love you, Daryl Dixon.” He rests his forehead on yours, “I love ya too..“
You peck him on the lips, “It’s almost midnight, let's go to bed. I’m so tired”, you yawn. He hums in agreement, “Yeah, ‘m tired too..” He flops himself down onto your bed, you crawl next to him and he cuddles up against you almost immediately. He wraps his arms around your waist and buries his face into your chest. And for the first time Daryl Dixon can go to sleep with a clear head and no worries of a nightmare scaring you two awake again.

Carl’s eye has just recently fully healed after Ron shot him. No one has seen it yet except for his father and Denise, the only doctor left in Alexandria.
I’ve told him time and time again that he'll be handsome to me no matter what, that his eye will never change how I see him. But he always finds a way to shut me down and say that I’m wrong.
But nothing can stay hidden forever.
We were both sitting against a fallen tree in the woods eating snacks and reading comics that we’ve both gathered over the years. He turns his head to say something to me about the comic he’s reading and the bandage gently unravels and slips down enough to reveal the scarred over socket that once held his eye.
He quickly drops the comic and his hands fly straight to his eye, “Don’t look at me. It’s disgusting.” I drop my comic beside me and lean over to him, “You and I both know that’s not true.” That earns a scowl from him, “You’re only saying that to make me feel better. You’ve never even seen it. So how can you even know that?” “I would never lie to you about something like that. Carl, I could care less if you lost both eyes. You’d still be handsome to me. Dammit. That’s not what I mean- I mean-” I groan, “ You get what I’m saying, but my point still stands. You are still you Carl. There’s just a scar you don’t like in an unfortunate place.”
My screw up seems to have lightened his mood a bit. He chuckles, “You messed that up really bad.. But I get what you’re saying. It’s just so hard to believe you. I mean. My eye is literally gone. My eye socket is just out there. How are you not disgusted?” “Because when I saw it just now. I didn’t see a gross ugly scar on your face like you do. I saw you. All of you. It may sound really cheesy. But I love you for what’s inside you. Not on the outside. The outside is just a nice bonus. Your imperfections are what make you, you. Your eye tells a story. You survived being shot in the eye. Do you know how badass that is?”
His hands stop clutching at the loose bandage at his eye, almost like he’s considering dropping it. I gently reach my hand out to touch his, “Hey. I won’t judge you at all. Did you judge me for all of my nasty scars? No. So neither am I. You’re safe with me.” He tenses up when I touch him, obviously not used to the comfort he’s currently receiving. “I- I don’t know what to say…” His eyes dart from mine to the dirt and leaves between us. “You don’t have to say anything. We can sit like this till you feel comfortable to show me. Or we can go back to Alexandria and make a bigger lunch than a few cups of pudding and some old canned peaches. It’s up to you. I won’t be upset either way.” I feel his hands slightly drop from his eye, not the whole way. But enough to show progress.
“There you go.. Almost there,” I praise him. He takes a deep breath and his hands drop slowly, I pull my hand back to my lap for the time being. I watch with soft eyes as he unravels the bandage. Once it’s fully revealed his head is down like he’s still unsure. “Hey.. Carl? I’m proud of you. That was a really big thing you did there.” His head slowly raises to look at me. I finally get to see him. All of him. A soft gasp leaves my lips as I admire his eye. I see the insecurity wave through his eyes, “It’s ugly.. Huh?” I immediately shut that down, “Hell no. Don’t say that.” “But you gasped. Obviously it did something to make you do that,” he retorts back at me. “Is a girl not allowed to gasp when she sees her boyfriend's face for the first time in weeks? That wasn’t a disgusted gasp Carl. It was a gasp of adoration I guess..” A blush dusts his cheeks, “Liar.” I smirk lovingly, “Is that Carl Grimes blushing over his girlfriend praising him? Never thought I’d see the day.” “Oh shut up. I’m just not used to it. But you really don't think it's gross or anything?” His head sort of lowers again. I gently put my hand up on his cheek to raise his head again, and I use my other hand to brush his bangs out of his face. “I promise. You are still handsome. You always will be. But I want you to know how proud I am of you for letting your guard down and showing me. It means a lot.” He awkwardly sits there with that blush on his freckle dusted cheeks. “You mean a lot to me.. I don’t know where I’d be without you,” he mumbles softly, but just loud enough for me to understand him.
I scootch in closer to him and wrap my arms around him, “I’m so happy to have you, Carl.” The way he melts into the hug, and wraps his arms around me. He hasn’t been hugged like this in a long time, or at least allowed himself to relax this much in front of someone that wasn’t his mother before she passed. Soon enough I feel his shoulders start to shake and his head press into my neck. I rub his back soothingly, “I’ve got you. I’m here. You’re safe.” Then comes the lukewarm tears dampening my shirt. I card my hand through his hair, “Just let it out. Let it all out. Don’t hold it in anymore.”
After a few minutes of him crying into my shoulder, he lifts his head. “Thank you for being here… For not giving up on me,” His voice is shaky but sincere. I press my forehead to his, “I’ll always be here for you. Through thick and thin. I’m here.” I press a gentle kiss to his forehead. His cheeks turn pink again and a smile tugs at the corner of his lips, “You make it hard to be sad.” I smile back, “Good.”
The setting is centered around Alexandria. No spoilers.

A new guy by the name of Andrew just recently joined Alexandria. He seems to have gotten along well with Ron, but he follows me around everywhere. To no one's surprise Carl noticed.
"So what's up with you and that Andrew guy? Looks to me he loves being around you." He pauses, "And you don't look to be bothered by it."
I look at him confused, "What are you talking about?"
He scoffs and crosses his arms, "Oh nothing. Just the fact that he's practically drooling all over you and you don't even notice. You don't even try to stop him. Seems to me like you want to talk to him more than me anymore."
I step closer to him, my voice gets stern, "That is so not true and you know it. I would never choose him over you. That's ridiculous-" Just as I finish my response. There's a knock at the door.
I roll my eyes and yell "Who is it!?"
There's a muffled cough from the other side of the door. "It's uhm... It's Andrew. I wanted to ask you a question about how Rick wants me to plant these tomatoes."
Carl's eyes narrowed as he looked at me. "Go figure," He scoffs.
I groan, "I'll be back. This conversation isn't over though."
Carl turns his gaze away from me, crosses his arms and mutters, "Yeah, whatever."
I turn back around and point at him, "I'm serious Carl. And if it makes you feel a smidge better, your dad told Andrew to come to me if he had any questions. So dig this up with your dad while I'm gone." I turn back around and open the door to see Andrew's overly happy face staring at me.
He rubs his arm and hesitantly looks at me, "So, sorry to break it to you... I have no idea how to plant tomatoes. You'll have to teach me everything. Sorry..."
"Oh. Uhm. Okay then. I'll show you I guess, " I rub my face and step out onto the porch, the hot July weather immediately burning my skin. I sigh, "This is going to be a long day."
I lead the way towards the garden Rick has started, Andrew not too far behind me. I stop and turn to look at him, “Rick wants the tomatoes in rows. So I’ll make a few holes to start with and you’ll put the seedlings in there, then I’ll water them. Does that sound good?”
He looks around, clearly not paying attention to a word I just said. “Uh… Yeah, sure. I could do that.”
Eventually he understands what we’re doing. Slowly but surely we get each row finished, 3 in total.
Andrew stands up and wipes his dirt covered hands on his shirt. “So.. is that it for today then?” He looks up to me.
I sigh and stretch, “Yeah, thank god. I can’t stand being out here for one more second. It’s too hot out here.”
Somehow Andrew gets me on the topic of video games he’s played with Ron and all of a sudden Thwump my eyesight is blocked by a brown object on top of my head. Carl's hat. I adjust it to see better. I look around to try and find him. And go figure he’s walking down the road in the opposite direction of Andrew and I. I slightly smile and shake my head. “That little shit.”
Andrew looks confused as to why Carl just dropped his hat onto my head. “Is that his hat?”
I adjust the hat one more time so that it comfortably rests on my head. Carl's silent claim of me as his not going unmissed. “It uh.. It is his hat.” I look back over to him walking.
Andrew's eyebrows furrow, he’s obviously not too happy with the situation. “So what’s wrong with him? Does he normally do that?” His gaze is now also fixed on Carl going down the street, till he turns and disappears from our view. I look back to Andrew.
“Have I not told you I’m dating Carl yet? I mean. I didn’t think I’d have to considering how obvious he makes it.” I gesture towards his hat on my head.
He immediately starts getting upset, “So you mean to tell me that you are dating Carl Grimes. Why him? Out of anyone else here. Why him? He’s always so whiny and always has to put his two cents in. He isn’t even attractive either. I mean. How can you look at him with that eye gone-”
I get up into his personal space, “That’s where I’m gonna stop you. That is my boyfriend you’re talking about here. I couldn’t give two shits if he has an eye or not. He’s still Carl and that’s all I care about. And for the record. He puts his two cents in 24/7 because half the shit you say is either blatantly stupid. Or it just makes no sense. And for you to get upset at me for dating someone you don’t like is insane. I would get it if Carl personally attacked you. But he hasn’t talked to you once. Now if I hear one more negative thing about Carl come out of your mouth, I'll put you out there with the walkers.” I scoff at him, turn around and start walking in the direction Carl was walking.
Andrew stands dumbfounded, still processing what just happened in the last 5 minutes.
After a few minutes of searching I find Carl leaning on the railing of his front porch. I walk up and stand next to him.
"That conversation I said wasn't over? I don't think it needs to happen anymore," I cross my arms and turn to look at him.
His head slowly turns to look at me, "And why not?"
"Because of this," I lift his hat off my head and place it on his, a smirk forms on my face. "Andrew freaked out."
I watch as a smile appears on his face. "Good. It was about time he realized we were together," He leans closer till our arms touch. I drop my head onto his shoulder, his head following soon after. "I love you," he whispers softly. I press my lips to his shoulder, "I love you too."
Andrew walks by, catching a glimpse of Carl and I and scoffs. Carl smirks, "Yup. It worked." I nudge his foot with mine, "You're an ass." He quickly lifts his head off of mine and starts fake crying. I move to look at him and playfully scoff, "You're so dramatic." His fake cries turn to laughter, "Oh shut up. I am not." I lean against him again, "You so are."

That would never happen. Not till I almost left him forever.
Before the outbreak, Carl and I walked home together from school every day. Our mothers always asked when we'd confess to each other.
I don't know how I ended up in this situation. Lying in the blood covered leaves from a gnarly gunshot left in my side that should have killed me. I wanted it to. But the thought of Carl finding out. Having to kill me a second time after I come to take his life next, as a walker. I couldn't bear it. I tried to drop the gun, but fumbled. My finger popped the trigger back. All I remember is my ears ringing, the pain increasing as I hit the ground, and... Carl?
Carl is shaking me and trying to get me to respond to him
"Get up. Please. Can you even hear me?"
His voice cracks mid sentence, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. His hands were frantically covering my wound. Small whimpers leave his lips as he tries to keep it together.
I finally form a coherent bundle of words, "Carl? How... what... I'm sorry."
I finally make out the details of his face, a few specs of blood smeared on his face from killing walkers, the tears that were once contained now falling onto my chest as he struggles to find out what to do. Why did I do this to myself? To him?
He chokes back a sob, "No. I'm sorry. I wasn't here to stop whatever caused this. I- I failed you." He pauses for a second, "I have to get you to Alexandria. Now. Denise can patch you up, she can- she- goddammit."
He puts my hands on my side to slow the bleeding while he picks me up. His hands slip under my legs and lower back. He's stronger than I thought, I guess that's what adrenaline does to you.
Next thing I know I wake up in the cold infirmary with Carl sleeping by my side in a chair. I look at my side, all patched up. It hurts like a bitch to move though. Unfortunately, my grunt in pain is what causes Carl to almost fall out of his chair in panic.
"Whoa. Hey, you scared me... How's it feeling?" He says as he fixes his posture
I look over to him as I try to sit up but fail. "I'm fine," my arm gives out as I'm trying to hold myself up.
His eyes soften as he sees me struggling, he leans forward and takes my hand in his.
"No, you aren't. I- What were you doing out there? You know better than to go out alone."
"Carl- I wanted to be out there alone. I- I was planning on-" My eyes mist over, I turn to hide my face away from him. But to my surprise, his hand is there to guide my gaze back to him.
"I know... I know. But you know you can talk to me right? I want to know that you're okay. I want to help you. I- Do you have any idea how worried sick I was? I would rather you tell me everything than suffer alone." His voice starts to shake, "I can't lose you. You're the only thing that makes me want to keep going. That makes me want to keep fighting. I've lost so much..." He swallows, trying to hold back his tears as long as he can. "You're everything to me."
Holy shit. Did he just- is he confessing? I'm still asleep. This is a dream.
"Carl... I- You're everything to me too..." My eyes soften and I gently squeeze his hand back.
His eyes widened, "Really? You- Are you serious?" A small smile tugs at his lips.
"I am. And I'm sorry for not telling you sooner..." My eyes move to look at our locked hands.
Soon enough, I feel his hand lifting my face to look at him again, his thumb caressing my cheek. "Hey. It's better now than never."
His eyes gaze into mine, and my head leans into his hand. "Yeah. You're right."
He takes a deep breath and whispers, "I love you.."
I gently pull him closer with the only strength I have and rest my head on his shoulder. Finally, I confess. "I love you too, Carl"
He softly chuckles and rests his forehead on mine. "God, our moms were right all along."
I press a soft kiss to his forehead. "We were dumb not to listen."
"We sure were." He replied playfully. "Now get some rest, I need you to get better. I'll even stay here if you want."
My eyes widen, "Really? Don't you have to go home or anything?"
He shrugs, "I think my dad can handle Judith back at home for one night. Besides, you're more important right now."
I look at him dumbfounded, still trying to get used to the fact that Carl really wanted me.
"Don't look at me like that," He laughs. "Now scootch I need room to lay with you."
He helps me move over and plops himself next to me on the makeshift "hospital" bed. He's tense at first, not sure where to put his hands or really any part of his body. But eventually he relaxes and just rests with his head on my shoulder and lets out soft little breaths as he drifts further into sleep.
"I love you, Carl," I whisper and press a soft kiss to his hairline, and eventually let myself fall asleep too.
PSA! you don't have to have smut in your fic to make it good.
