Also is that like TOO spoilery. everyone here has played fe7 righ #anyway hector mastering social interaction as usual #one of the most charming part of fandoms like FE is that almost every character has a fan #so... sorry Teodor fans #'Teodor more like TeoDORK' - Hector #someone on twitter thought mark was making a bondage joke #she is not (It’s a meta joke about grinding supports) but every day I am blessed to read #new interpretations of my writing that I would have never considered #also the spot blacks really got away from me for these but I just wanna say #Hector is SUCH a pain to black in because his feet and hands are fully armored #you can see I cheated here by giving him blue boots #but he always has to gesticulate wildly with his hands whenever I use this style of inking #because otherwise you can't read his body language #makes him seem more animated than he actually would be I think #anyway if you're designing a character and you need their hands to be readable from a distance please consider making them a different colo #from the character's torso

#fire emblem #fe blazing blade #fe7 #personally I like to imagine that every time Sain Serra show up #in this imagined serialization of fe6 with the fe7 cast cameos #a different daughter manifests out of nowhere and by the end of the novel the audience realizes that Sain and Serra have like 15 kids #it was fun to write Merlinus and Marcus as being slightly more comfortable around each other every time they showed up #i wanted their relationship to escalate in a very low-key way #leave the dramatic love stuff to the teens ya know

Wait I just noticed in the tags of your final doodle batch! FE7 is your second favourite, so... which one is your top favourite?

Oh I'm quite basic. I think Houses is unfinished, unpolished, has uninspired maps and comically easy gameplay. It's ugly, it's slowwww, and it's a huge time sink. It also prioritizes what I find most important in stories: characters that earnestly engage with the world, and that are written to expand upon the lore but also to entertain the audience.

It's a balancing act of spewing exposition and emotionally connecting with the player- in games you often have characters that just feel like set dressing, like they don't have their own personal lives outside of the very room they inhabit, and I think people take for granted how difficult it can be to write characters that feel like part of a larger world, while still directing the player along a set storyline. To that end, of the FE games I've played, Houses has impressed me the most.

Congrats on finishing FE7!!! Glad you liked the game! Any supports in particular that stood out to you? A couple did pop up in the comic, buuut if you wanna talk some more

Hmm... I think it's cute how Pent and Canas both geek out over one another and immediately can't wait to tell their wives, and I thought it was cute how Serra drooled over Lucius. I remember asking my brother if Sain showed any sort of jealous trait in any of his supports so I could gauge whether I could make a comic about Sain getting his own vice thrown back in his face, but our only example is with Kent and he's super willing to let Lyn go in that one, so I called that idea a bust. Sain would probably just cry dramatically until Serra paid attention to him again, which she would be into, because they're both losers.

I only got to C rank with Isadora and Harken, so I don't think they ever figure that out in my playthrough canon, but it was gearing up to be juicy and I will be googling the full chain later.

I also found it charming they acknowledge that to farm the Marcus / Merlinus support, Marcus had to have been on guard duty the entire time.

I'm VERY interested in seeing Kent / Fiora's support chain in my Hector Run, that's the one that has been talked up the most. Legault / Heath was also recommended a lot.

Yes, but it won't be a Chapter -> Doodle -> Chapter type situation like it was with Eliwood and Lyn! I want to get all the characters I missed and some of the new lore, but I'm not sure what I'll draw and what I won't.

As I recall, it's insinuated the first time at the dragon's gate that Nils/Ninian's quintessence is what Nergal wants aka he's going to kill them so. Dragon Ninian's death lets him harvest enough he goes alright bet. The real reason of course is the devs don't want to deprive you of bard/dancer utility at the very end so they leave one of the siblings alone

See that's what I had thought too, but then he wouldn't have had to open to dragon's gate at all, right? He could have just killed either of them at multiple occasions. But the meta reason works too lol

A WIN FOR STRAIGHT-LACED DUDES EVERYWHERE! YOU GOT THIS BOYS!

Hang on, is this your first FE7 playthough? Interested in why you drew Ninian like that when she [redacted]. It's like you were foreshadowing that plot thing that happens in her story arc.

Yes, I'm playing FE7 blind. I don't think I draw Ninian very different from how she's depicted in-game but I'm happy that it's flowing with the rest of the plot!
