Recently I settled from the biting cold, it feels like the spring is coming soon.
At the same time pollen started to fly, isn’t it?
I’ve never been bothered by pollen my whole life, but when I look at my surroundings, there are many people who are seemingly look painful
Everyone please don’t forget about pollen countermeasures!!
So then, this time I visited Ishinomaki City ^ ^
After all, seafood is the pride of Ishinomaki, but on the other hand, the damage caused by the earthquake was also great.
Can you guess how many times I’ve visited Ishinomaki City?
It's countless.
The first place I headed was 「Hiyoriyama Park」 located on a small mountain top.
Many citizens also evacuated here during the Great East Japan Earthquake.
From the hill, a big torii is still overlooking the city of Ishinomaki.
Next I headed to the Ishinomaki City Art Gallery, 「Ishinomaki Kiwamari Sou」.
Here in Kiwamari Sou, is a hideout-like gallery that was made after the disaster from the housing from more than 70 years ago
The representative, Arima Kaoru-san is from Aichi prefecture, an artist who receives high praise from domestic and foreign countries due to her painting and drawing.
In 2017, the place was used as the exhibition hall of 「Reborn Art Festival 2017」 held in Ishinomaki City, then opened as 「Ishinomaki Kimawari Sou」.
She told me that she wants to create an art environment that the people of Ishinomaki can enjoy.
To be able to communicate and gain even a little trust from the people of the city, she also moved to Ishinomaki.
「If I stay her for a long time, art lovers might gather. Ishinomaki can be the base for contemporary art in Tohoku」 , as she talked passionately about arts.
She said 「I hope someday it can be managed by Ishinomaki artists only」
On the first floor, works of a sculptor living in Ishinomaki City, Chiba Fumie-san, were exhibited.
When you go up to the second floor, there is a space that creates a strange aura.
It’s the work of media director Shimawaki Yuu-san, It is said that it represented trees and flowers made from free papers which were no longer needed.
Shimawaki-san, like these free papers, he seems to have stuck in “finishing his role”
The books which were put in disorder, were the books that have already finished being read.
It seems that this work was born from the thought of 「I want to remember the things that weren’t needed anymore」.
From the request the woman on the biggest panel 「I want to be photographed in nude and reborn」herself that he took the picture.
It seems that the nude photograph was enshrined because it was a sign of breaking away from past self.
Shimawaki-san said 「It’s a little funeral for her who was reborn, including the meaning of encouraging her」.
As someone who is studying photography as well, there are a lot of works in Kimawari Sou that made me moved.
From the window of the second floor of Kiwamari Sou, you can see the temporary housing is being dismantled.
Photographer Furusato Hiromi-san said, 「I should be glad, but somehow feels lonely」
At the same time as the reconstruction proceeds, the lives of people in these seven years will gradually disappear.
Even though the shape disappears, the feelings and efforts there will never disappear.
Even now, Tohoku still work hard.
