“No one’s happened to see a very large, goofy-looking reindeer roaming around, have they? Sven’s gone and run off on me again...”
A Yule Ball? That sounds like a lot of fun! So this Maleficent persons been doing a lot of damage everywhere huh? Such a shame.. I don’t understand why they’re doing this.. Hercules Angelis Knight of Larean, nice to meet you.
“It is a lot of fun! I would definitely consider dropping by Arendelle one December and checking it out...providing Queen Elsa still wants to go through with it this year and all, given everything that’s happened. I don’t think we can ever fully understand why villains are the way they are; can’t get inside their heads and all.”
“Nice to meet you too, Knight of Larean. My name’s Kristoff--Ice Master to the kingdom of Arendelle.”
“At the rate things are going, I’m not sure we’ll be having a Very Merry Christmas come December. I think Verden’s too shocked and afraid after everything Maleficent has thrown at us. What a shame, too--the Yule Ball at Arendelle is my favorite festivity (strangely enough).”
“Lost? If you were heading back to Arendelle, you are heading in the completely opposite direction, my friend.”
“This is my bookshop. I run this quaint little place when I’m not on the move, though that is rarely the case. Still, I figured after everything, it may be good to stay in the village for a spell. Why, yes! I don’t believe I properly introduced myself during that ball. My name is Jasper Maddox.”
“I was actually looking for some representatives of Naeron, actually; speaking on behalf of my kingdom as an Ice Master and all that. Do you happen to know which direction the castle is, perhaps? Or the noble courtroom or something? Anywhere royal officials might? I’m kind of new to the whole royals thing, I don’t understand half of it. Also traveling.”
“A bookshop? Cool...I bet my girlfriend would love this place; she grew up with such an extensive library of her own in the castle, don’t get me wrong, but she loves going on adventures and discovering new places. What sort of books do you stock here? Nice to finally formally meet you, Jasper--I’m Kristoff. Kristoff Bjorgman.”
“Oh, welcome to my shop! So sorry for the mess, we’re undergoing some rearrangement right now, and these little humans are helping me. Well, sort of.”
“Hey, sorry, I just got a little uh...lost on my travels, is all.”
“What is this place, exactly? And aren’t you the man I spoke with about Queen Elsa at the costume ball not long ago?”
“I doubt it would be more comfortable as well, much larger too.”
“You have a pet reindeer? I thought a monkey was a weird pet. Isn’t it, you know, bigger than you?”
“Pretty bulky, yeah--I already have one talking snowman in my life, I don’t need to become one, too.”
“Sure do! His name is Sven; he’s kind of like my partner in crime. Er, well, he helps me with ice harvesting. I like to think it’s similar to owning a larger than life dog. Or a horse with antlers.”
jaspermaddoxx:
“Ah, it was not my intention to sound condescending, more as to understand your frame of reference. The North Mountain? I’ve heard that there are some interesting creatures who live up that way. A distant relation to myself, in fact. If I must reveal my answer, I will- though I do enjoy not spoiling a good riddle. On this day, the realms of the living and the dead are at their closest with one another. As such, it is easy for spirits to cross over during this evening, as is the source of your ghost stories. But it’s also easiest for the living to bring back the dead for a short time, and not always for good reasons. Do you see where I’m going with this, human?”
“Very well, I shall. I suspect it may be of great help to both your kingdom and your queen if we were to chat about it anyway. Is she here tonight?”
“Well, that’s er...good, then. That you didn’t mean to sound condescending. Because...yeah. And you could say that; my family’s very...quirky, I suppose is the best way to phrase them. But it’s a heavily protected area of land; not many non-magic folks can manage to live up there. Certainly not alone. You have relatives --sort of?--who dwell in the North Mountain? Any I might’ve heard of? I...don’t want to say for sure, but I’m starting to get an inkling. Ghost and ghoulish stories and such.”
“She should be around here somewhere, but I fear I haven’t seen her since Ana and I left for the party earlier this evening.”
maddoxborealis:
“Yes, I can imagine that would be something you’re well known for. I always forget which kingdom is known for what but I do remember hearing about a queen with ice powers. I’m not entirely sure what I’d do with that information but I’m sure if it happens I can figure something out.”
“There’s a lot, so I wouldn’t blame you for not being able to keep up. I’m barely familiar with most of them myself, to be honest with you. Lived in isolation for far too long, I guess you could say.”
ellaashes:
“Well, I don’t believe that for a second. I think fashion should be fun and enjoyable, not suffering. Though, if you’re going to stick with the hat, I suggest flipping it to one of the sides. Then we can see the fluffy little poof at the end!”
“Well, I’m sure she’s just as cute as Sven, even if she’s the one who runs off more. The band is a little loud, so her jangling is probably being lost in the sea of horns and strings.”
“That’s definitely one way to look at it--maybe you can take the world by storm with that opinion, then. I’d back you up on it; if I could just wear my mountain gear all the time, I totally would. Flipping it to one of the sides? Like--this, perhaps?”
“Again, don’t let Sven know, but...she is; the costume suits her in a way I hadn’t really been expecting for it to. If I wasn’t so amazed by it, I might be a little weirded out. And you make a good point, unfortunately; let me know if you see a tiny redhead bobbing around, yeah?”
Raging On || Kristoff & Lily
He couldn’t speak, couldn’t feel, couldn’t think properly. The world was a chaotic blur of tattered costumes, disheveled guests, and paranormal presences that lurked each corner of the Lazarov castle. Kristoff’s heartbeat was an irregular rhythm, thudding against his rib cage painfully as the once peaceful and joyous crowd around him grew as turbulent as the sea in the middle of a storm. He was shoved this way and that by people desperate to find a safe exit, their goblets still filled with punch and food plates brimming with sweet snacks clattering violently to the floor. And the screams--God, the screams. They pierced his eardrums, drowning all of his sensibilities and suffocating his train of thought in their shrill, panicked frequencies. It seemed as though the entire world was crumbling to the ground directly under Kristoff’s feet, and he couldn’t help but become swept up in the chaos and panic of it all.
And above all, one thought--one worry--floated to the top of his mind, fighting for dominance over any other concern: Anna. He needed to find Anna...and now.
Currently, Kristoff was kicking himself for leaving her alone in the first place. Never mind the fact he’d needed to go to the bathroom and promised her he’d be back as soon as he finished up, he should have never left her alone to begin with. His heart was pounding its way out of his chest as Kristoff made his way through the pushing and rioting crowd of people, wishing now more than ever that he’d bothered to choose a costume that came with a makeshift weapon to use against Maleficent’s wraiths who were reigning hell over all of Verden. Kristoff had no idea how to even go about fighting beasts like this; his family, rock trolls who dwelt in the isolated regions of the North Mountain, had made sure to move firmly away from any sort of magic or sorcery that dealt with toying with the dead. In his family’s own opinion, spirits at rest--beings belonging to the other side--should very well stay dead and gone.
Kristoff had to say, he definitely agreed.
So with nothing but every fiber of his being hoping and praying that Anna was alright and that he could escape the wraiths before they latched themselves onto his being, Kristoff fought his way through the crowd, screaming for his girlfriend the entire time and praying for the poor souls who, like him, were trying to find a friendly face in all the chaos.
ANNA
who cooks normally?: Kristoff attempts to cook for himself and Anna on date nights, but the food usually turns out inedible. And burnt. Very, very burnt. Anna doesn’t have the heart to tell him that his food tastes like the bottom of an oven.
how often do they fight?: Whenever Kristoff attempts to sneak Sven into the castle and fails, a tiff usually starts. But Anna just doesn’t understand; Sven’s not like other reindeer!
what do they do when they’re away from each other?: Though Kristoff doesn’t really know how to admit it to himself, he misses Anna...a lot. Every time he has an expedition on the North Mountain, all he wants is to return back to the heart of Arendelle; back to her. Likewise, Anna tends to pine for Kristoff in his absence. But she doesn’t want to appear too needy or clingy; you know, especially not after You Know Who.
nicknames for each other?: Kristoff’s favorite nickname for Anna is “feistypants”, and likewise, she teasingly refers to him as her “reindeer king”. (Sans the ‘pungent’, thanks Olaf).
who is more likely to pay for dinner?: Kristoff will try to, blushing and fumbling for money the entire time, but before he can manage to collect the current amount of currency, Anna will call the waiter over and pay upfront.
who steals the covers at night?: Anna’s more likely to do this; she just fidgets and bundles up under the covers like an animal.
what would they get each other for gifts?: Anna would have something very special made for Kristoff--a new kit for ice harvesting or, cough cough, a brand new sled. Kristoff would stress over buying a gift appropriate for Anna before finally settling on something he felt would accurately describe their relationship with each other. His first few attempts at gifts would be failures, but one year when he gifts her with a locket with their picture inside, he knows he’s hit the jackpot.
who kissed who first?: Anna did, without a doubt.
who made the first move?: Technically, this was owed to Anna, as well. Kristoff, being too socially awkward and unequipped for dealing with relationships, fumbled in an attempt to start things up between them. Thank you, Anna.
who remembers things?: Anna’s always forgetting things; one minute, she’s in the middle of telling Kristoff a story while she dishes out their lunch. The next, the food’s completely forgotten and she’s fully involved in explaining the climax of her tale to Kristoff.
who started the relationship?: It was a mutual thing on both of their behalf, but unfortunately, neither Anna nor Kristoff are exactly well versed in the art of love and relationships.
who cusses more?: Neither one of them are very prone to cussing, but if either were to do it, it would definitely be Kristoff.
what would they do if the other one was hurt?: Kristoff would give anything to be able to save Anna; if he knew that she was in pain or hurt in some way, he’d fight through hell and back to protect her. Similarly, there isn’t anything Anna wouldn’t do to keep Kristoff safe.
annaxchristiansen:
“But I’m okay, Kristoff, I promise! You don’t have to worry at all, honey - if that dragon lady ever comes back, I’m going to kick her butt from here to Atlantica! Just you wait. For now, though…let’s just focus on relaxing a little bit. Hopefully this party doesn’t end with, erm…flames and shouting…”
“And - I forgot to ask! Do you like my costume? Do you do you do you do you?! I told you this was a great idea!”
“You can say that all you want, Anna, but...I’m always going to worry about you. It’s one of those things I can just...just tell, you know? And alright, feistypants, let’s hold on just a minute, okay? Think about Marshmallow. Think about how well that worked out for us. I...yeah, let’s...let’s hope not...”
“I love your costume; you make an adorable reindeer, Anna. The jingle bells add a nice touch. Just don’t tell Sven I said so, okay?”
“I’m not used to a climate this hot and humid either, although from what I remember Arendelle is colder than where I’m from too. As long as your head doesn’t actually melt I think we’ll be okay. That would be a terrible mess to clean up.”
“Arendelle’s known for having cold weather, but I almost think that’s owed to our queen’s known ice and snow powers more than anything else. I think I’ll be okay, but you’ll be the first to know if my skin starts falling off.”
“If you say so, sir. I just don’t think fashion should make you itchy and hot. Have you lost your reindeer in the crowd, Santa?”
“We all have to suffer for the fashion and whatnot. That’s a saying, isn’t it?”
“I have--and unlike Sven, Anna doesn’t seem to come when I whistle. Hopefully I can locate her soon; you’d think I’d be able to hear her jingle bells jangling.”
jaspermaddoxx:
“Hm, you haven’t gone outside of Arendelle very often, have you? But to answer your question, yes, it was a reference to a cat, which is what I am. Well, a sort of cat anyway. Though the semantics really aren’t that important I suppose. Yes, good work, human. Do you remember what’s special about All Hallows’ Eve? Why we choose this day to celebrate? You are a bright young creature; I know you can figure it out. To clarify, I would change just one little word of that conclusion to ‘will’, and you might hop onto the right track.”
“Most likely not. I find when most people feel as though they’re part of an exhibit, they’re averse to it. It doesn’t change the fact that she’s a rather intriguing case, magically-speaking. I would be happy to get into the nuances of it, but I am told it is in poor decorum to speak of someone when they are not around.”
“I barely left the North Mountain until I left Anna. So, to answer your question, yes. I’ve very rarely left Arendelle. I’ll ask you not to patronize me; my parents--er, family, that is--told me things about All Hallows’ Eve growing up. They were connected very closely to the spiritual world, you could say; there would be all sorts of ghosts stories about the holiday. But aside from that, we never really celebrated it.”
“I would suggest taking all of this up with Elsa personally, but I’m not sure how open she is to discussing her magic with strangers.”
“There does seem to be a lot of people wearing similar things. Santa Claus, that’s it! I think that’s a pretty creative choice as well.”
“Oh, a couple costume! That’s adorable! I only vaguely remember what antlers are but I’m sure I’ll know when I see them.”
“Thank you, we thought it was a pretty interesting couples costume! Someone suggested we go as snowmen, but...I don’t think that costume would’ve been much more comfortable.”
“You don’t know what antlers are? I take it you’ve never visited Arendelle, then? We have tons of reindeer that roam the place. Like mine.”
floundermurphy:
“I’m kind of both? I’m supposed to be a circus ringleader, and everything I found in my research suggests they’ve been known to perform with animals like lions and elephants before. Those were both great guesses though! And you’re supposed to be that man from Christmas right? I can never remember his name.”
“I see it now! Innovative choice; the amount of duplicate costumes I’ve seen tonight is kind of ridiculous. I give you points for creativity, then. And I am ‘that man from Christmas’, yes; his name was Santa Claus.”
“My girlfriend should be around here somewhere--she’s dressed up as Rudolf. So if you see a quirky redhead with antlers, that’s her.”
