Photo by Jim Bennett Börn played our fourth Iceland Airwaves show today at Kex Hostel. The KEXP radio station from Seattle streamed it live and I guess the video will be up at some point. It was Júlíana's birthday so the girls put on a ton of glitter and Júlíana made a bad ass crown for herself. I didn't have any glitter on because I'm boring. Tomorrow evening we're playing this new squat called JáList! (e. YesArt!) at JL-húsið. A bunch of scholars got kicked out of their offices, because they want to turn them into yet another hotel, so some artists decided to squat the place. Capitalism hates art. Art should aim to destroy capitalism. And yes, I do understand the irony of me saying shit like that after having played the Iceland Airwaves festival whose main focus this year seems to have been to convince everybody how music is important as an exportable commodity. So, Iceland Airwaves is coming up. My band, Börn, is playing some shows. Come see us. Also, go see Þórir Georg and Kælan Mikla. They will destroy any other band there. I'm really into a lot of 90's video game art, that has that raised-on-70's-and-80's-comics-high-school-notebook-doodling look, but with really weird colors. Like Neuromancer and Skate or Die. So that was what I was going for with this poster.
