The Future of [The] World is Mine...
On November 5th, 2023 our Kickstarter ended after its 30 day run.
Unfortunately, we were not able to reach our fundraising goal during this time.
We knew this was a longshot from the outset, we have a small (but wonderful!) following and times are tough for us all. On top of that the campaign was started on short notice and we didn’t have any funds with which to advertise the campaign.
On top of that, the social media marketing we were able to put together was also quite limited due to us not having a whole lot of time. The whole purpose of the fundraiser was to buy us more time to work on the comic: meaning we didn’t really have time to dedicate to the fundraiser while trying to survive.
All of that said, we gave it our best shot and we don’t regret trying. As we said when we announced the Kickstarter; it was a last resort. We had to try even though it was unlikely to work.
We’re super grateful to those who were able to back the Kickstarter, as well as all people who spread the link and who offered words of encouragement.
Just because the fundraiser was unsuccessful doesn’t mean that we didn’t notice and appreciate every bit of help we got during that time.
We hope we can continue to lean on you in the future!
So... what’s next?
First off: The Kickstarter may be over but [The] World is Mine is not. We’ve already long since resolved to finish this story in its entirety no matter what happens and no matter how long it takes us to do so.
We are putting [The] World is Mine on hiatus...for now. our situation hasn’t changed, unfortunately, and we simply can’t balance trying to support ourselves and posting [The] World is mine at the same time.
During this hiatus we will continue to work on [The] World is Mine season 2, in fact we’ve been working on it this whole time. Our pace is much slower than before but we are making progress.
Right now the lineart for the rest of ‘On my own’ is completed as well as 1/5th of the lineart for the following episode. The flat colors are done for the rest of ‘On My Own’ and the storyboard is fully completed for ‘On My own’ and half of the storyboard is completed for the following episode.
We don’t know how long the hiatus will last, so we can’t provide an exact end date at this time. However, we will be posting bi-weekly updates on our progress on our ko-fi.
As well as our other jobs/freelance work, we will continue to try and raise funds for [the] World is Mine via Ko-Fi until we reach our goal of having the funds to complete Season 2.
Instead of having one lump sum end goal of $10,000 we are going to set up smaller milestone goals that will add up to the total we need. This will help us (and you guys!) keep track of how much has been raised towards what.
Our first goal is $785 to repair a hard drive that has [The] World is Mine files on it, as well as the entire portfolio of one of our members. Having these files back is important both for work on [the] world is mine and the freelance work that supports our livelihoods.
This goal system also works better with Ko-Fi’s interface.
The tier rewards from the Kickstarter will be added to our Ko-Fi as limited quantity digital purchases. So if you wanted one of the tier rewards but missed the Kickstarter or weren’t able to afford them at the time: here’s your chance.
The tier rewards are listed on our commissions page.
