rummaging for an earl grey teabag like its a cigarette
Based on a true story
BRING HIM BACK
in my high school a few years ahead of me there was a polyamorous girl named luna who was dating a guy and a girl and the girl was named (i swear to god this is her birth name) marea. they were named moon and tide and they were lesbian lovers. i thought it was the most romantic fated thing ever as a tiny baby queer it would make me sigh in adoration. the boyfriend's name was frank
this reminds me of a computer system we had at my previous job, which allowed an optional "medical condition" to be recorded against each person in the database. if one was entered, you needed to specify whether that condition was stable, worsening, or improving.
however, the list of possible "conditions" was rather broad, and included pregnancy; i was never sure whether "worsening" or "improving" was the correct choice in that case.
I just think we, as a society, should just stop writing male characters. There’s already enough of em
male character overpopulation is a serious environmental and social issue which leads to tag infestations, ecological collapse of non-man focused fandoms, and reduced diversity in character clusters and narrative webs. it can even lead to severe fandom brain rot of the poor little meow meow strain. make sure you are inoculated by consuming media that is not infected in order to to build resistance

"Claws like sharpened bananas shot toward me."
this sentence is
good
bad
ITS EVOCATIVE! LIKE GREAT BIG HUGE BANANAS EXCEPT SHARP!
YOU DO IT ON ONE OF THESE! OBVIOUSLY!!!
a lot of people are very angry with me over this, but I'd just like you to sit down and imagine a banana. maybe a green one so it's extra firm. if you need it to be harder, you can toss it in the freezer.
and that brown end? the hard bit? pencil sharpener. or sharpened with a blade. are you following me? now, attach six of those to a harpy.
yeah. I think you're seeing the vision. you can apologize to me any time you're ready
check in time:
I see the vision
it's still really bad
GOD DAMN IT!
just tried to reference the xkcd "today's lucky 10,000" comic but I wanted to explain xkcd first, so I was like "you probably know the one about experts in the field overestimating their audience's familiarity with the subject matter" and uh. he didn't. love me some irony
If Your Scene Feels Lifeless, Someone Is Being Too Polite
Stories stall when everyone behaves. Real tension appears when someone:
• asks the wrong question • says something they shouldn’t • notices something uncomfortable • refuses to drop the topic • misunderstands something important • interrupts at the worst moment
Conflict doesn’t always look like shouting.
Couple more options for tension:
They want something REALLY REALLY REALLY bad, but for some reason they can't ask for it -- or can't have it even if they did ask.
They don't notice something that the audience HAS noticed (like in a horror movie when the monster is sneaking up behind the protagonist, or if someone drinks a glass of unboiled water during a cholera outbreak because they don't know about germ theory)
Takes a risk (or otherwise does something they "shouldn't" do) which the audience has to sit through for a prolongued period of time (e.g. slips away from the party to go into the host's private office and rifle through their papers before the guards catch them)
Loses when they thought they were going to win
Everyday I find something else that shows how strange(?) white supremacy is in practice. Like I remember joking with my sis n law how black people especially older black people prefer butter pecan ice cream. OFC it’s somehow connected to Jim Crow. Around the country, Black people were only allowed to eat Vanilla ice cream on the 4th of July. The racists will do anything to subjugate people wtf
