@reddrakebird : (past thread for Tim's birthday! 💕)
------------
Kon had let Tim get up and ready for classes, pretending to be asleep even as he felt his boyfriend stir in his arms. Letting him slide out from under them, holding his breath steady and holding back both grin and giggle as he felt the brush of warm lips kiss his cheek, whilst a pair of fingers brushed the hair back from his face. The temptation to pull him back into bed for some morning intimacy was resisted, with Conner needing the whole day to prepare for the evening ahead. A tight breath was released as he was tucked in and Tim vacated the vicinity, to start getting ready for his day.
The moment Kon heard the click of the front door shut in their apartment, he bolted upright and floated out of the bedroom towards the kitchenette, already searching for the supplies with which to make a cake. Upon finding the cupboards distinctly lacking, Kon floated back to their nightstand and picked up his phone to make a quick grocery order with doordash. As he waited for the delivery, he stepped into the bathroom and took a quick shower, washing off the grime from the day before.
Hearing the light knock resonate throughout the air with his super-hearing, Kon wrapped a towel around his middle (out of respect for Tim, rather than any concern for his actual modesty) and headed dripping wet to answer it. Thanking the delivery girl, and tipping her from the jar of loose cash that they kept by the front door for such an occasion, Kon simply smiled, bid her goodbye and ignored the blush that had accompanied her elevated heartbeat. There had once been a time he might have invited her in, had he been back in his own apartment but now Kon's fingers idly stroked the titanium band that sat around his neck. What would have once felt triggering, now felt strangely liberating; a reminder that he was wanted. A reminder that he was loved. Today he hoped to do the same for Tim.
The rest of the afternoon was spent researching recipes on his phone, attempting to make cake batter (crushing eggs instead of cracking them turned out to be bitterly frustrating, until Kon realised he could crack the shell more delicately with his TK). He'd placed the batter into a cake pan and set the oven with a timer, as he began to prepare the starter. Mixing the ingredients he had bought, Kon began to prepare a smoothly blended tomato soup, and opened a couple of cans of alphabet spaghetti with relative ease, picking out the necessary letters for later.
Placing them on a plate, with the soup in a container in the fridge, Kon quickly moved onto making the main course; Chicken Alfredo. As the raw chicken sizzled in the pan, Kon decided to head to the balcony to have a quick cigarette. Only to realise to his horror, at the smell of genuine smoke that he should probably not have left it unattended. Putting out the cigarette on the nearby ashtray and bolting back into the kitchen, Kon quickly breathed in and than out in an icy haze to put the growing flames that flickered onto the nearby cupboards out. Thankfully it was enough to stop the fire instantly; but the wooden surface cracked from the sudden change of temperature. Yeah... Tim was definitely going to notice those.
Sweating, as he looked at the clock, Kon got out the cake and wondered just how brown a chocolate cake should look. Maybe it was all the cocoa powder he'd put in? Yeah, that was probably it. Placing it in the freezer to cool down - he wasn't about to breathe all over it, gross! - Kon returned to the challenge of the main meal. Not prepared to let chicken best him, Kon grabbed a new pan and tried once more, this time not taking his eyes off it. Once it was cooked, the sauce added and the pasta boiled, Kon drained the linguine and sorted both into two more containers so that they could be easily reheated and placed them into the fridge.
Now to decorate the cake. Whilst chocolate melted in the microwave, Kon got out the lump-sided cake, and cut up twenty-four strawberries into the shapes of hearts. Then he took the melted chocolate and painted it onto the top and sides. The strawberries were then placed upright in a circular motion, leaving enough room for a candle. Placing it carefully in the fridge, Kon looked again at the clock. 4.30pm. Just enough time to clean the mess up and get himself groomed for the occasion. Once the kitchen had been cleaned and the washing up put away, Kon wandered through to the bedroom and their walk-in wardrobe.
He carefully put on a pair of black slacks, and a velvet-mesh-embroided shirt which whilst formal, still showed off his almond-hued skin. He then grabbed a comb and tended to his hair in the mirror, ruffing up the curls so that they fell just above his forehead. He left his shades off, knowing Tim preferred to see his eyes without them.
As he glanced at the various missed Tim's texts on his phone, Kon grinned. He was on his way home now. Hopefully, his silence hadn't upset his lover. Kon hadn't ignored him purposefully - he'd just had a long list of things to do. And he wasn't finished yet. Walking back into the apartment, he closed the curtains and switched off the light. As he stepped into the balcony to remove the ashtray and place a vase with a single red rose on the table, he noticed the sun was just setting on the horizon. Perfect timing. He carefully placed tealight candles all along the balcony's frame, carefully lighting them with his lighter. That was tucked into his pocket as he quickly set the table, his ears already recognising the sound of Tim's heartbeat within the building.
As his boyfriend opened the door, Kon flew faster than a bullet to greet him, pressing their lips together as soon as the door was widened. His fingers grasped around Tim's tie, pulling him closer and inside the apartment. The kiss had been intended to be gentle and chaste, but soon emotion took over, as Kon deepened it; re-introducing their tongues to each other and savouring the taste of his boyfriend's saliva in his mouth.
Finally he pulled back with a small moan just as the temptation for either to grow overly handsy rose to the surface. "Welcome home, sunshine." He smiled.
"I missed you." Kon confessed before continuing to lead him with the tie towards the balcony, where the table sat waiting with a bottle of red wine with two glasses. He let go of the tie, to pull out a seat for Tim, gesturing for him to take it.
