hello, I’m kry/crow (he/she), a young writer in high school and forever tired !
❖ I’m s.e. asian and a sucker for bird and flower symbolism that is learning two languages: Japanese and Viet (tbh I suck at both). I’m an INFP-T, and a gryffinclaw. Horror and action are my favourite genres, but I still enjoy the more lighthearted stuff.
❖ I mainly write horror/thriller, action, and urban fantasy. On this blog I’ll be mainly reblogging/posting writing tips and resources; positivity, aesthetic stuff, and occasionally some snippets of my main WIP.
❖ My main WIP is “arcana”: a multiple-work series that’ll likely be 4 or 5 books long !!! It’s about Kaede Akiyama, teen girl having to deal with her new double life as a high school student and as a person with magic abilities which she needs to keep hidden. It's futuristic dystopian-esque with themes of horror and action; there’s colour-coded characters, some slice of life bits, and found family. Plus a lot of angst + hurt/comfort.
Because writeblr’s been pretty desolate lately, if you’re a writeblr please interact with this post and i’ll check to you + your writing blog out !! <33
I realize this didn’t come with the usual fanfare of cover reveals, but I did tease one at the beginning of the month… 😎
Super stoked about this one, though! If you’d like to read the thoughts behind it, I’ve posted them for public consumption over on Patreon.
Halfsleeper is the sequel to my queer urban fantasy debut, Stormbringer. I don’t have an exact release date planned just yet, but I’m shooting for around late October. More details on that coming soon!
Stormbringer is available in ebook form on Amazon and other select retailers. Additionally, I’m serializing it over on Tapas. If you’d like to wishlist it for later, check it out on StoryGraph or Goodreads!
I can’t wait to share more details on this release!
SPECTACLE EXCLUSIVE: WITHIN THE EYE OF THE STORMBRINGER
Hello hello! ⚡
So about a month ago or so, my dear friend Juimon surprised me with this fun and spectacular faux-magazine cover that would absolutely be the sort of thing one would discover in the world of Dreamwalker. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to write an in-character interview article to go with it!
Well, I finally had time to write that article! It’s a fun little piece of bonus content that doesn’t really have a place in the actual story, so I decided to post it on my Patreon, which I’ve reworked to serve as a platform solely for hosting bonus/exclusive content.
If you’d like to check out the article, it’s right over here! It’s a free post, as I wanted to give y’all an idea of the kinds of things I’ll be sharing over there. I hope y’all will enjoy, and keep an eye out for more… 😎

But then as the people were swimming and bathing, another group of humans came running over with these sticks. Loud sounds kept echoing off the water, hurting my ears. A red liquid started to slowly seep into the waters from the humans…

Presenting | His Imperial Highness Prince Charles vi Aetier, Imperessor of the great Aetierian Empire and heir presumptive to the Phoenix Throne
Meidther |
Second child of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Dantalion vi Aetier in his marriage to Illysandre vi Soresi, consort-premier. The child of politics, of duty, of security—born happy and hale and perfect. He is named Charles after the great kings that came before him, in hopes that he, too, will live up to that name. He is his father’s pride, his mother’s joy, and the empire’s hope for stability. The Bonny Prince, the people call him. The Awaited Heir, the courtiers say. My little lion, his mother says, gazing upon him as if he will hang the moon and stars in the sky. My little king.
Vithail |
He lives sixteen years with the world at his fingertips, learning from the wisest, eating the best, clothed in the finest a prince could ever be. But he is empty. For all that Charles is loved, for all that he is favored, he cannot help but feel hollow. He flirts, he plays, hunts, rides, loves and is loved yet still that ache remains. He yearns for that something. Something more than his life of glittering jewels and strict lessons and impossible expectations. He yearns and yearns for an idea he does not know, only that it might give him fulfillment beyond the future that has been laid out before him.
Aphel |
He is sixteen. His heart is full of yearning, his future is laid clear, and it is bright and glorious. Then— she arrives. A half-sister who is spoken of in hushed tones only when he is out of earshot and she looks upon him with such loathing that it scares him. Now, Charles is pressured to fight for his title, to defend the birthright he never wanted, never craved, because what is he but prince and heir? What else is he?
"I wonder, more often than not, what it would be like to be anyone but me."

According to some sources for Victorian flower language, carmellias symbolize perfection — particularly white carmellias. Yellow lilies can symbolize falsehoods, and judas trees symbolize unbeliefs and betrayal.
i will argue that platonic friendship love is just as valuable and is not all that different from romantic love until the cows come home but i also need everyone to know that every fictional pairing i’ve decided are in love desire each other carnally

Story:
Serenity sets the recorder stone on the bedside table, making herself comfortable on her bed as Thera takes the fluffy chair across from her, “What’s this for again?” Thera asks, crossing her arms and bouncing her leg.
“So,” Serenity starts, flipping through her notebook until she lands on her wanted page. “I’m going around and getting my friends’ profiles.” She offers Thera a toothy grin. “Gotta prove I’m a good notekeeper somehow, right?”
Thera huffs out a half-laugh. “Sure.”
“Right.” Serenity takes a deep breath, pressing her pen to the paper. “Let’s start with the basics. Name, gender, pronouns, age?”
“Thera Gyrhuia,” Thera says, and Serenity scratches it down. “Woman. She. Nineteen.”
Serenity hums as she jots it down. “Alright.” She looks up at Thera, eyes raking over her, and begins to write again. “White skin, brown hair…” She pauses, squinting at Thera. “I can’t tell what color your eyes are from here.”
“They're blue.”
Serenity smiles and scratches it down. “Nice.” She pauses for a moment, biting her lip, and Thera can practically see the gears turning in her head. “Would you describe your natural hair as more of a… strawberry blonde?”
Thera’s lips drop into an immediate frown at that. “Don’t write that down,” she says. Serenity shoots her a questioning look, but Thera says nothing and the smaller girl knows better than to press.
“Okay,” Serenity says, returning her eyes to the paper. “And, again, you’re six-foot…?”
“Three,” Thera says, forcing herself to smooth her lips out. “Six-foot-three.”
“Aysie,” Serenity mutters, pen flying across her paper. “Okay. What are your parents’ names?”
“Dad is Sage Daizelson and my mother is Abalone Gyrhuia.”
“What’s their marital status?”
“Never married,” Thera says shortly. “Haven’t dated since I was a baby.”
Serenity hums, the pen scratching gently against the paper, a pleasant noise in the otherwise-silent room. “How many siblings do you have?”
Thera pauses, thinks it over for a minute. “Uh,” she says, “eleven, I think. Eleven half-siblings. And their half-siblings.”
She smirks just a bit as Serenity writes it down with a shake of her head and a mutter of what the fuck under her breath. Serenity clears her throat. “Do you have any stepparents?”
“Dad’s got a boyfriend, Ari. Abalone’s married to some prick.”
Serenity snorts. “‘Course she is,” she mutters. “What was your childhood like?”
The smirk fades instantly. “Interesting,” she says. “Next question.”
“Right,” Serenity says, crossing out what she wrote. “Forget that one.” She flips to the next page. “What were your parents’ jobs?”
“Dad’s a daycare assistant these days. Writes sometimes, too.” She cracks her knuckles, eyes trailing to the blue sky through Serenity’s window. “Abalone was a bouncer for most of my life. No idea what she does now.”
“‘Course your dad’s a daycare assistant,” Serenity says with a smile as she writes it down. “I love that guy.” I do, too, Thera wants to say. She doesn’t say it. “You’re still dating Silver, right?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s good. I like him.”
“Yeah,” Thera says, and almost says me, too. “I know.”
“You’ve been arrested, right?”
That startles Thera enough for her to laugh. “I mean,” she starts, “you already knew that.”
“Yeah, I did.” Serenity’s smiling just a bit. “Remind me what for again?”
“Shoplifting,” Thera says, sinking into the chair. “Assault and battery. Trespassing.”
Serenity laughs, writing it down. “You’re a character, Thera.”
“Sure am,” she says. “Any other questions?”
Serenity thinks for a moment. “Not that I can think of.” She taps the pen against the paper. “Guess that’s all I had to ask… for now.”
“Cool.” Thera cracks her knuckles and says nothing more.
Serenity sets the notebook aside. “Wanna watch something?”
“Sure,” Thera says, pushing herself up off the chair and moving to sit beside Serenity on the bed.
Serenity taps the recorder, shutting it off and slipping it into her pocket. “Let me go get the film stone,” she says, clambering off the bed and starting for the door. “Be right back.”
“Alright.” Thera watches Serenity leave. She huffs to herself, looking around the room, eyes landing briefly on the window.
There’s a face looking in.
She looks away before it registers, and the moment it does she’s rolling off the bed and flying to her feet, staring at the window with wide eyes.
Nothing’s there.
What the hell?
“Thera?” Serenity asks, and Thera turns to find her standing in the doorway, purple stone gripped in her hand. “What’s wrong?”
Thera turns back to the window, heart in her throat as she looks out at the blue expanse of the sky. There couldn’t have been a face there, could there? They’re on the second floor.
They’re on the second floor.
She swallows. “Nothing,” she says. “Nothing at all.”
Hello hello to all you lovely witchlings and cryptids!
This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while but kept putting off since I’ve been laser-focused on actually writing (imagine that!). Something I realized recently is that I don’t often talk about my writing, my progress, or my process outside of the rare update or the occasional graphic/excerpt/worldbuilding/character post.
Thing is, as someone who’s about to publish, it’s getting quite difficult to share new content without spoiling. And I’m someone who generally finds talking about my writing a little uncomfortable, so I default to more fun and interesting things like aesthetic/moodboards or worldbuilding snippets.
So this is my challenge for myself: once a week, in addition to anything else I feel like sharing, I will check in with some small updates on my Dreamwalker series along with a blurb or other bits. I’ll start off this week below the cut…
