things i do when i feel depressed and that u should try too:
tidying my room
getting in the bath and doing facemasks or just soaking in soapy water
sitting underneath a warm shower contemplating life and telling myself things arent as bad as i think
or getting in a cold shower and coming out feeling refreshed
brushing my teeth even if ive already brushed them
sorting through things; i.e. going through books and deciding what i need and dont need (it clears my minddd)
watering my plants (if u dont have plants try buy some bc they make my room feel more fresh and make me feel a bit happier)
make something and put effort into it; like making iced tea but from scratch which makes me feel proud and makes it tastier :)
listen to music, look for good albums and listen to them whilst u do something
changing my bed sheets even if i already changed them 2 days ago; idk it kinda resets things and all the depressing times lying down on that bed set are erased and u can ‘start over’
deleting apps like snapchat, instagram. even if its just for a little while when they’re not there i dont feel so burdened and obligated to check them x
and if you feel like you CANT do any of this, then please, just try. i promise it will make you feel even just a little bit better <3
How to get into skincare & start a skincare routine
I know skincare might seem hard but if you know your skintype and the basics you can start your own skincare routine and get going on it.
If you know your skintype skip this but if you don’t here are the skintypes and see which one you fall in too .
Dry skin - without any face products your skin feels rough when touching it (basically not really soft) ,you have dry patches ,and you get flakes .lastly you don’t get pimples much or at all.
Oily skin - you don’t do anything and your whole face has a shiny look with some places even shiner like your forehead or nose. You can touch any part of your face and it will feel slightly oily or greatly depending and lastly you get pimples.
Combination skin - like it sounds ,some places of your face will feel oily but then other places will feel dry or not oily at all. So for example your forehead is oily but your cheeks are dry.
Sensitive skin - you have dry skin and/or redness and when you touch your face it gets red easily. Also you get dryness or itching if products don’t work for you.
Normal skin - you’re lucky if you have normal skin ,you don’t really suffer from anything skin wise and you don’t get pimples much or at all. Your face doesn’t feel oily or dry in any place and you don’t have redness.
Remember you can also have dry sensitve skin or oilysensitive skin which isn’t that common but in that case you would make sure any skincare product you use suits sensitive skin too.
Now for the skincare routine
Cleanse (wash your face) - I would strongly recommend double cleansing (benefits everyone) but if you’re new to skincare just pick a cleanser for all skintypes or your skintype so you can use morning & night because the important thing here is to wash your face. If you’re on a low budget the drugstore has good skincare so you’ll be alright. You can cleanse with a miceller water ,cleansing water ,or facewash . If you get acne, cleansers with salycilic acid or charcoal cleansers are good options.
Exfoliate - exfoliaters get rid of dead skin cells which keeps your skin glowing. Do this 1-2 times a week after cleansing. Skinfood has good exfoliaters for $10 at ulta.
Moisturize - every skintype needs moisturizer regardless and it’s essential for that glow.Once again pick one for all skintypes or your skintype. If your oily or combo skin use a gel moisturizer since it gives you hydration without making you look oily. If your dry or sensitive stick with creams since you need that deep hydration and if your normal you can use any moisturizer whether it’s a gel or cream.
Get a facemask - get a facemask to keep your skin nice & for any skin concern you might have .You can get hydrating ,brightening (helps fade acne scars),or a deep cleaning one .Clay masks are good to really clean your face and keep your face clear. All skintypes can use them but it especially benefits any one with oily skin or pimples, the same goes for mud masks or charcoal masks. Freeman has good masks for around $5 you can try out at any drugstore.
Sunscreen - use sunscreen to keep your skin young looking and make sure to put some on your neck &hands too. The sun does alot of damage and also makes acne scars worse so start when you can. Even though sunscreens are for any skintype , if you’re dry look for a hydrating one ,if your oily look look for one that says non greasy and if your sensitive make sure it works for sensitve skin. Korean sunscreens are bomb because they feel so nice so look into that.
Quick tips
Always moisturize after masks/sheetmasks to get the most out of the mask and because your skin still needs it .
Simple is a good drugstore brand for all skintypes even sensitve skin, worth checking out.
If you’re interested in a skincare product at the store go home and look up the reviews and read if it works.
I said this already but make sure any product you use is for your skintype or all skintypes so it has a higher chance of working for you .
Any skincare product that says brightening means it evens your skintone, helps fade acne scars ,and is good for that glow.
Calming or soothing masks are good for sensitive skin & redness
Get your makeup off w/a makeup wipe before you start washing your face.
Pore masks, clay masks, volcanic ash ,and mud masks are good for blackheads and acne in general.
You can use sensitve skin products even if you aren’t sensitive since they are gentle.
Sunscreen goes after mosturizer. No skincare product should go after sunscreen.
