wonderful world of women

as a woman, sometimes i feel really small

as a young girl, i was told “women can do it all!”

they told me to dream as big as the sky

now, when i have opinions, they like to ask me why

i wonder what caused this change

are they afraid of what we might rearrange?

are they worried about women taking a stand?

they tell us we can’t, but we know we can.

he burns through the air

the birds scream outside the window

and warn us of what’s to come

when the Moon comes out to kiss goodnight

she whispers sweet nothings

and the stars wink at us

like they know what we’ve been through

books let us live vicariously through our favorite people, people we wish we could be. they open our minds to someone else’s thoughts. they let us escape and transport us into another world. there’s something mindblowing about that.
