Andrew wanted to be the person who made Katie feel better. She was the one good thing in this town that he had, so he would do anything that she needed. Even if it was a lot, he didn't notice. It was all worth it to see her relax, something that he knew was hard for her to do. "And when we get out of here, we are going to go wherever you want to." He would follow Katie pretty much anywhere. He smiled as he wrapped an arm around her waist. Kissing her back softly. "Anytime, beautiful."

Katie smiled sweetly at him, her forehead gently pressed against his. These were the moments that kept her going, that made it easier to remember they had been under the dome for years. She would go anywhere with him. Everywhere. "When we get out of here, I'll go anywhere with you. Let's just pick a direction and never slow down. Never look back." Katie interlocked their fingers, still smiling at him. "I think I want to go to the ocean. Closest place we can get to. I need to feel like the world is bigger than this town."

"You know what? You make a good point. She would totally respect me for it. Especially if I tried to nab one of her ah-mazing items. Like something she'd never worn before. But only on a day when she's in a good mood. Like on the day that I transform Chris Andrews into a literal wing-ed rat. Oh my god, Katie, thank you. You've figured it out. We have a solution. It's a win-win-win." Sure, Sophia was mostly joking, but the more she thought about it, the more she wanted to do it.

"You're welcome. I love to see a plan come together, especially one that ends in Chris Andrews being out of sight, out of mind. Maybe he'll fly into the barrier and bounce off it so hard he exits the planet. A girl can dream," she mused. Katie knew Sophia liked to have her fun and now the idea was planted... "Can't think of a better vampire for it. Just remind me not to piss you off like, ever."

Katie hadn't been able to settle at all since her run in with Julian. What he'd said about John... She was going over it in her head. Over and over and over it. It couldn't be true, right? It didn't make sense! Where could he be? How could he missing and she didn't know? And then there was Taylor... And Frederick... How could something like this happen and Frederick didn't know? That's what had turned her stomach because what if he did - what if they both did - and it didn't matter. Katie had believed in what they were doing here, she had believed in Frederick. She believed that he would always put werewolves first and keep them safe. But what about John?

She couldn't hold it in any longer, bursting into Taylor's room with her heart in her throat. She had to confront her even if she hoped beyond hope she would have no idea what she was talking about.

the last person that love expected to see walk through her families storefront was katie. a friendship that had long become a distant memory these days thanks to a town wide fight that neither of them had any desire to participate in, and the dome that put the literal line in the sand.

"i suppose. it's more the time it takes to fix it all is the issue. all the destroyed materials that can't be salvaged doesn't help either, inventory for certain items isn't exactly easy to come by"

love hadn't slammed the door in her face which had to a hopeful sign, right? it didn't make katie feel any better, of course. she didn't know what had caused the surge from the dome, but chances were it was magic. whatever engel was cooking up... collateral damage seemed to be less and less important to them. "right. i'm, uh, really sorry this happened, love. maybe i can-... i mean, if you have a list or something? maybe i can help you replace some of this stuff."

Andrew knew that they were at different places with Frederick's plans; he had been behind it all when he joined with everyone else, but lately, he just didn't get it. No matter how much Oliver tried to bring him around, the doubts were always there. "Better than me, I think I might smack Oliver around some more." He smiled, letting out a chuckle. "Not a bad start, probably, you can still do something. We won't be here forever." He paused at her question. On the inside, he wanted to say no, but he doubted that was what Katie needed to hear. "You will be fine, I will make sure you are."

Katie let out an unexpected laugh at his answer. It was no secret that Oliver would deserve just that but she kept that little thought to herself. She looked into his eyes as he paused, searching for some sign that they really would be okay. That ends might justify the means. Katie put a lot on his shoulders, she knew that, and he always held her up. She didn't deserve him, but she couldn't help the way her shoulders relaxed at his promise. Even if he might not mean it, she still believed him. "We won't be here forever," she repeated softly. With that, she leaned closer and kissed him gently. "Thank you, Andrew."

"On a scale of one to a literal door nail, how dead do you think I would be if I were to attempt to sneak into her closet and 'borrow' a pair of her shoes?" No, it was an absolutely terrible idea. At the wide grin on the other girl's face, she couldn't help but let out a laugh. "Look, I'd love to help you out with your little problem. No one is more sympathetic to the cause, of course. But if I'm being totally honest, I've never turned a vampire into another creature, so there's a not small chance that he'd end up as...like a pigeon. Although..."

"You'd either be a fond memory or she'd respect your boldness... I feel like you never know with Amara. Or any of them, really. The Originals, I mean. It's like, when you've lived that long, your poker face is unmatched or something. You never know what you're going to get." Katie laughed at Sophia's response, always happy to imagine the worse case scenario for Chris Andrews. "A rat with wings? Sounds pretty accurate to me. Next time you see him, just promise me you'll at least think about it."

the magic box had taken a hit during the earthquake and the place was a mess. determined to try and get some semblance of order back in place, love had taken it upon herself to tidy up.

sweeping up broken glass and ruined herbs, she looked up when she heard the bell above the door chime and gave a smile

katie had almost successfully avoided love morrison since the dome came down. it had been years since she'd stepped a toe over the line drawn between them. katie had taken frederick's side - her sister's side - to be safe, to make sure that werewolves like her were safe. it had all gotten so messed up, though. and now... katie didn't know what to think. but then she saw love behind the broken glass of her parents' shop and her heart dropped. she was so full of longing for a life that had long passed them both, she could have screamed. without meaning to, she'd moved closer to the shop. and definitely without meaning to... she'd pushed open the door.

"nothing that can't be fixed, right?"

Andrew wasn't sure he would still be here if it weren't for Katie. When he needed someone to reassure him, it was her that he turned to. "Same here, Katie, you are the best." He smiled as he looked at her. "What would you change? I can think of like a million different things I would change."

Katie allowed herself to feel happy as he looked at her with his sweet smile. She wasn't under any illusions (she thought she wasn't, at least) about what had to be done. Frederick had promised a better world for them. A safe place for werewolves. "I don't know... I'd be nicer to my brother," she joked but felt her heart squeeze as she said it. "Never move to Havensdale, go to college and do something boring with my life. But maybe it'll all be okay, in the end. Right?"

Julian wanted to look at Katie. He wished it were easy, but every time he saw her, all he could think about was the betrayal. He wanted to know what she could possibly say to him, a way for her to explain why her choices had been so off. "John?" He paused; she didn't know how she couldn't know. "I haven't seen John in a long time. He disappeared."

Katie's brow furrowed as he spoke John's name in a way she hadn't heard before. It immediately chilled her to the bone. There was a feeling of dread suddenly churning in her stomach and now, she couldn't look away from Julian. She held her breath. John was okay. He had to be okay. "I-... What- what do you mean he disappeared? Where is he? Is he-...," the words caught in her throat.

It quickly dawned on her now that if something bad had happened to John - to her big brother - the blame would fall at their doorstep. At Frederick's. But he would never hurt a werewolf. Would he? "Are you looking for him, Julian?"

Good. They were all good. That was exactly what Taylor wanted to hear from her little sister. The two of them were a pack (and yes, the rest of the wolves at the manor were part of the pack too, technically, but with Katie, it was different, something deeper, more important). "I could totally go for an ice cream. There is absolutely no judgment from me on that. Ice cream and gossip it is."

"Perfect," Katie grinned, looping her arm through Taylor's with ease. Katie had her sister's back, always. And she believed in the world that Frederick was trying to make, as imperfectly as it was going. She couldn't turn her back on them now. She wouldn't. "I've been trying to convince Sophia to turn Chris into a toad or something equally fitting. Not very good for vampire-werewolf relations, but I don't think anyone would blame me."

Julian wasn't being fair; he had known Katie. She would never hurt anyone in the pack, at least if she had the choice. Ever since she left, he couldn't predict her as well as he could before. "Yeah, I figured since you haven't tried to yet." He looked at her, nodding his head. "As good as we can be."

Katie wished that he'd look at her, but when he did, she could hardly bring herself to look back. Leaving the pack behind had been the hardest decision she'd ever had to make. She wished they could understand. She hoped they would, eventually. "Julian...," she started, but what could she say? She should leave. Instead, she asked, "What- What about John? How is he?"

Andrew was happy to be away from everything, especially with Katie. She always made him feel at peace, even if his brain was running a mile a minute. "I know you do, and I got you, Katie." He rested his head on top of hers, breathing out deeply. He hoped to make up his mind. "I don't know, I feel like I am overthinking stuff." He squeezed Katie's hand. "What about you?"

Katie smiled to herself at his words, closing her eyes and letting herself feel comforted by him. Having Andrew by her side had kept her going, even when she wasn't sure if it was right. He was like her lighthouse in a stormy and uncertain waters. "I don't know what I'd do without you," she said softly, squeezing his hand back. "I feel the same. Sometimes I- I just wish we could go back, you know? Before all of this and, I don't know... Start again, I guess."

There it was. That was the sort of answer that Taylor had been expecting from her little sister. She took Katie's hand, giving it a quick squeeze. "I know that. And I deeply appreciate you having my back." Especially given that the rest of their family had gone in the opposite direction. Taylor was not going to bring that up right now, though. She was going to be positive towards Katie. "Okay, so, what should our treat be?"

For the briefest of moments, Katie wondered what would have happened if she'd confessed having doubts. If she said that it had been a mistake, that she wanted to go home. Would she have to run from Taylor? Katie shook it off. "Always," she said. Katie let out a laugh then, visibly relaxing as if nothing had happened. "Not to sound 12 years old again, but it's never a bad time for ice cream."

Okay, fine, maybe that dog joke had been a tiniest bit insensitive given who she was talking to, but if she apologized for it now, it would just be awkward. Better to leave it and move on. "Oh, Amara is extremely charming," Sophia agreed, "but she has had centuries to practice. Not all of us can be so lucky. Still, I wouldn't mind raiding her wardrobe." If the conversation was going to be about how much Chris Andrews sucked, well, Sophia could chat about that topic all day, thank you very much. "Katie, are you asking me to turn our least favorite blood sucker into a rat or am I misreading things?"

"Amara's wardrobe... Can you imagine? You know it'd only be the best of the best." Amara was always so stylish, confident and effortlessly beautiful. It was very difficult not to be drawn to her, like a moth to the flame. Katie could understand how she'd lived centuries, inspiring devotion. But not every vampire was an Amara Nguyen. At Sophia's question, Katie couldn't help flashing a devious grin. "That's exactly what I'm asking, no further analysis needed. Could you? I mean, not forever. I'm sure Eddie would have an issue with Chris being MIA but, like, a few hours peace? A small price to pay."

"It does take a while to teach an old dog new tricks, no? Well, no one is going to judge you for it," Sophia said sweetly. Personally, she didn't dislike any of the other species more than the others, although warlocks would always be the ones she'd stick with, if times got bad. She waited for Katie's answer, genuinely curious for what she'd say. After all, everyone knew that Taylor Salazar was one of the HBICs at the Manor, and the two siblings, in Sophia's opinion, seemed close. "Oh, Chris Andrews?" Yes, that made perfect sense. "He definitely is flirting with the position of roommate from Hell. Don't tell anyone I said this, but I sometimes wish I could play a little prank on him or something."

Katie raised her eyebrows at the 'old dog' comment but decided against pressing it. "Yeah, I know. It's not like every vampire can be as charming as-," she paused, turning over names in her head before landing on- "Amara." Katie felt her panic ebb when Sophia proceeded to agree and drag Chris Andrews for being the worst. She'd saved it, right? Katie's momentarily lapse of judgement was just that, momentary. She needed to shake this day. "Totally. The worst part is, he's clearly having the time of his life while he's at it. Well, if you do, I won't say anything. Personally, I think he'd be better off as a rat."
