in my room on a saturday evening talking to myself like this
"Not dating or having sex isn't even a source of discrimination in real life-" How many rights and benefits are tied up in marriage contracts though? How much of our economic and societal structure is built with the clear expectation that people couple up and support each other? Where's the security nets and affordable options for people who will never have a partner/spouse to take care of them? How many people save serious commitment only for people they have a romantic and sexual relationship with? How many people will unquestionably prioritize their sexual and romantic relationship above all other social connections in their lives? And where does that leave the people who don't want that at all, ever?
I finally finished TVL finale and I felt lied to about this whole season. Idk what happened but the disconnect between the original trailers and what we got is so deep. I feel like they focused so much on the music they wrote the season around the songs and not the songs around the season. No one progressed tbh. We got no big news about the Great Conversion. DM's reasoning for beheading Loustat felt so out of bad fanfic. Honestly the whole season feels like it's out of a bad fan fic.
But Armand should have taken Lestat and Daniel with Louis. Having Daniel be mad about some parlor trick when you had Louis straight up reading his mind and messing with his Parkinson's to prove a point in earlier seasons. And Armand knew Louis didn't love him that whole time so for him to be mad about it 70+ years later is weird. He knew his and Louis' romance was on borrowed time the moment the lie was discovered.
Everyone was under utilized tbh. And Regina felt like a reaspn to keep Delainey on set and around vs an actual character even a twist one. Devil's minion felt like it had no real build up to their partnership and said here you go. What happened on that plane? Did Armand save Daniel or turn him out of spite that would help contextualize their relationship more and better tbh. We know Armand loves Daniel but like I'd love to see some more build up of how mutual this can build outside of let's fuel over Loustat.
Armand was against the great conversion but that wasn't even his motivation. He could have thought Louis was steering Lestat towards it or vis versa. We also got no hint of Akasha except in that one episode and it could have actual ended with some hint of the Queen's return.
Idk if its getting renewed but they gotta definitely change something because a season about Lestat and how chaotic he is was definitely way too boring. I get this was technically part 1 but nothing about this screamed let's get hyped for part 2.
genuinely insane how difficult it is to participate in your own life
the fun thing about having a mental health crashout in your thirties is that sure yeah you're crashing out, but at the same time there's a part of you standing across the room smoking ben affleck style, going yeah yeah you're crashing out. you crashed out before you will crash out again can we wrap this up yet. and the most annoying part about it is that they're right, and that that does Not stop you from crashing out even a little. love and light on planet earth.

and also it's always about claudia. the story remains about two fathers haunted by the memory of their daughter. lestat's music becomes raw and vulnerable and pure when he is haunted by claudia, when he allows himself to think about her again. the entire album is being rerecorded because of claudia. akasha will awake because of the pain of lestat losing his daughter. the story is claudia.

HOUSE OF GUINNESS - 1.01
This is a century-long lie. You hung her portrait over our coffins in New Orleans. It's sick. You're sick.
We're unnatural beings! And this-- this is the half-human soul that you conveniently whip out whenever you want to win an argument!
What argument you got for fucking your mother? It's sickness. Maybe the source of all your sickness. But my god! Seek a professional!
episode 6 of THE VAMPIRE LESTAT
And I spend every fucking second of nowhere looking for her. And where is she? Why is she not here with me?
lestat said kill yourself and armand made one of his bandmates jump in front of a train. lestat made fun of armand's sexual performance and past as a child sex slave and armand helped his boyfriend leak a video of lestat having sex with his own mother. you go low he goes to hell hall of fame
