i have this image of lestat absolutely thrilled upon learning about modern day halloween. after being traumatized by the witches place, witnessing how ignorance and fear causes so much suffering then being forcibly turned into a monster. seeing a night of the year kids dress up as monsters and celebrate scary, spooky things and are a little less afraid of the dark for one night. how excited was he to buy candy and participate? he must have been so delighted, maybe even planned to pop his fangs and make the kids squeal in delight and run away laughing. i can't believe it got ruined so quickly :(

the crazy thing is the entire episode really is about loustat and there's gonna be that corner of the fandom who will whine and catastrophize no matter what, but like the whole entire point is still loustat. it's crazy how poignant the crater left behind by louis is. the entire episode lestat is running from the gaping wound in the shape of his broken family. louis is hardly on screen and yet his shadow shapes the entire episode. even the presence of gabrielle is about the absence of the love lestat needs from louis

There's no pressure to respond to or acknowledge this but I wanted to say that its really terrible what happened to your brother. Thank you for sharing your art and your story. I lost someone recently in different circumstances and I read somewhere that art helps us to process on a level that nothing else seems to touch. I hope creating that was helpful in some way for you. I've been reading poetry that spoke to my grief in ways i couldnt, and you put words to how I'm feeling this week when you described the park and how untouched by tragedy it seemed. I hope you are surrounded by good people and send all the good wishes that one stranger can send to another. Take care ❤️

🫂 i appreciate you reaching out a lot actually. i hate that you have to know grief as well and i hope as you process, it gets gentler for you soon. making and sharing my art definitely helps me contextualize all the abstract feelings attached to loss and it always gives it more meaning when it can help others with their own process. in a way, death is the one thing that really does tie us all together. you are not alone in your experiences, for better or worse. i hope you also have the support you need right now. be kind to yourself 🤍 / @rex-rp
