Kumihos in Pathfinder

I made more stuff! If you poked around this page back when it was new, I had created a Pathfinder race for modeling kumiho that was extremely similar to Paizo's kitsune. I've since expanded it dramatically to include much more detailed information, including rules for their flawed disguises and feeding, sociological and physiological sections. It also includes an 8 level racial class that expands on their natural abilities to help create kumiho from CRs 1/2 to 7 or give kumiho PCs an option to dive into if they want to empower their thematic abilities. It also takes advantage of Dreamscarred Press' excellent psionics rules!

"Miss me?"

Marvin slumped up from the couch in a half-sleep.

"Hmm?…" Her image slowly came together in his eyes. "Oh, bloody hell. What do you want?"

"I suppose the plasma pistol will do fine." Marvin shrugged and went into his bedroom, returning to her as he put on a jacket and tucking his pistol into it. "Let’s go."

"Whatever that is, I'm sure the answer is probably!" Myomai fiddled with the box for a few seconds, pulling rods out of slots and reorienting them. "Just a few more... okay." There was a noticeable clicking sound, and Myomai reached out to grab Marvin's shoulder.

The world exploded in a shower of lights, swarming and writhing, filling both Myomai and Marvin's views utterly. Order came to the lights slowly as the coalesced back into positions that would define a sensible landscape. They found themselves on a rocky plateau surrounded by plains. From the foot of the plateau a series of clanking sounds, like metal on rock, could be heard.

"I will seriously, never, ever get used to that."

"Miss me?"

Marvin slumped up from the couch in a half-sleep.

"Hmm?…" Her image slowly came together in his eyes. "Oh, bloody hell. What do you want?"

"I’ve been as well as a person can be while they spend most of the day having ennui. And you?"

“Much the same, I suppose, but I’m not as much of a grump about it,” she teases. “Let’s do something fun. Spar, explore, investigate the meaning of life. Something.”

"Grumpiness is my main function. It’s literally the core of my personality," he sighed. "But, if you want to do something, we could go out somewhere. You would have to choose the place. I’m not much good at finding fun."

“Hm…” She rolls over the couch, disappearing from view for a moment before peeking over the edge of the couch past Marvin’s feet. “Somewhere in my world, then…”

She grins, crosses her sends on the couch, and lays her head on her arms. “Numeria. You’ll love it. Constructs, lasers, and supernatural horrors.”

He watched her scurry around. “Oh? That does sound like it could be interesting. Sure. It’s not like there’s much here to look at. Lead the way.”

"Great! I'm sure it'll end with a minimum of dismemberment." Myomai drew a puzzle box with dozens of small pointed metal bars extending out of it from her clothing. It was about the size of her palm. "I got some new transportation. You might want a weapon or something, between the superstitious locals and metal monstrosities, it's not really a safe place."

"Miss me?"

Marvin slumped up from the couch in a half-sleep.

"Hmm?…" Her image slowly came together in his eyes. "Oh, bloody hell. What do you want?"

Marvin relaxed in his seat again. “I suppose that beats the old way. You won’t find any ensouled creatures here, of course. Topside, maybe. But not down here.”

Myomai rolls her head over to stare at Marvin. “Devouring the souls of the innocent, of course.”

She maintains eye contact for a couple of moments before smiling and looking up at the ceiling. “If it makes you feel any better, I’ve been dieting. I only take prey when it starts to hurt.”

"Oh."

Marvin relaxed in his seat again. “I suppose that beats the old way. You won’t find any ensouled creatures here, of course. Topside, maybe. But not down here.”

Myomai smiled and dropped onto the back of the couch, oriented with her feet above Marvin’s head.

"Same things as always, I guess. Shelter, a meal, fun. ‘Time to kill’ means eternity for me, you know. Pun intended, of course."

It's Been Over a Year

It's kinda weird, I never really meant to "leave" Tumblr or anything like that. Things just got really hectic, and I lost track of it. School, work, health, family, just lots of stuff going on all at once and I didn't have time to regularly check Tumblr. After a while I got scared people would think I'd abandoned them, and just never came back, which was cowardly.

I lost contact with many of the awesome friends I made here (I think many of them have unfollowed me while pruning their lists, since I've been idle for so long). I'd like to fix that, if at all possible.

Expect Many OOC Posts Today

I just killed the last boss of Penny Arcade Adventures 4 by stunlocking him. This victory feels hollow.

Today is my Birthday

We're watching Jaws in Anthropology since the quarter is ending on Wednesday, and later I'm going to gorge myself on ribs and fall into a food coma. Should be a good day.

He fired again, and stepped to the side to avoid an incoming arrow. Surely, this won’t be that difficult, he thought. It’s like fighting cavemen.

Each bow shot was accompanied by burst of kinetic energy, visible as distortions in the air around the arrow, that accelerated the projectile beyond what the strength of its wielder could provide.

The paladin took the bullet in the shoulder and kept coming, unfazed by the new wound. He broke into a sprint and charged at Marvin, blade couched and ready to stab.

“Fine. Take it, then.”

Marvin quickly aimed the pistol for the man’s head, and fired.

At the last instant the bullet veered off course, only grazing the side of paladin's head. "I take no pleasure in this," he growled as he drew his blade and advanced on Marvin. The two archers aimed at the doorway and began firing.

“I am harboring no such thing. You’ve been told twice now, so let this be three times: Get off of my property.”

All previous semblances of politeness and courtesy left the man's demeanor. "We followed the kumiho here. We know it's in your home. You will surrender it or we will take it by force."

“The word ‘threat’ implies that I cannot deliver. I am promising. I am promising you that if you do not leave, I will shoot you.”

"And you understand that you are harboring a murderous monster, unfit to live in this or any other world?"

“There is no ‘beast’ here. Three invaders of my private property, however, are here, and I’d very much prefer they left.” He gestured to the paladin and his archers with his pistol.

The warrior frowned and looked directly into Marvin's eyes. "Are you threatening me?"
