“Hinata.”

The Aburame greeted her with an invisible smile and a nod of the head. He put both his cellphone and his hands back in his pockets and waited for her to reach him. He had been looking forward to this day, as well. It wasn’t often they had a day free of missions. But a damper had been put on their team bonding day.

“Kiba isn’t here,” he told her, “As it turns out, he’s sick. It’s just you and I today, it seems.”

Not that Shino really minded. Sure, he was concerned for his fellow male teammate, but he always treasured the times he got to spend some alone time with Hinata.

“I’ve only been here for about ten minutes. You didn’t keep me waiting.”

   "Kiba-kun... is sick?" As lips parted in slight disbelief, the sparkle in her eyes slowly but surely started fading. Clouds withdrew upon their precious plans. But if their friend truly was sick, there was nothing they could do to help. Or was there?

   "We have to do something," Hinata hummed softly, bringing a finger to her lips in thought. Lavender eyes squinted to the ground before looking back up into her teammate's eyes glasses. Hope quickly crept its way back to her face before she spoke up, "I know we made different plans, Shino-kun, but would you help me bake some cookies for Kiba-kun?"    She really hoped he'd accept her humble request. Not that she was unable to prepare the small gift herself― the expectations for that day were set rather high and there was no way she would let it all go to waste.

   "There is always more than one option in life. What we choose to act on depends entirely on us," Hinata mused, tone of voice careful and gentle.

   It was not a rare situation that people came to her for help or advice. And although she managed to keep her composure from the outside, it seemed the inside of her mind remained with the shy child she used to be― why would they come to her when it felt like her life was in pieces that never seemed to come together? The chaos in her head was unending; and yet her heart tried to reach out to the world, to offer help where it was needed.   If others found peace in her presence, found her words worthy of their attention, what else did she need? Love of her friends and family was enough to bring happiness to her troubled self. It was okay after all.

   "We don't always have to be serious. There is no one around now, so please," she spoke calmly, tender expression making the corners of her mouth rise before she continued, "just relax for once, Hanabi."

   Hinata loved her sister dearly, she always have― and always would. She suggested to spend some time together that afternoon. That said, Hanabi did not seem so satisfied with the idea of wasting her time baking things for her sister's team. However, the older woman knew she didn't actually hate it, no matter the unnecessary comments. Hinata knew her quite well. And she was aware that her sister needed some time without bothering about the clan's business. She needed some peace in her life.

   Small smile played on the Hyūga's lips as she walked next to the man; not too fast, not too slow. And yet there was something in her head that kept her going just a little in front of him. All the planning that went to this day. It was just so exciting.   "Trust me, Naruto-kun."

   Little did he know about the surprise they have all prepared for him. Naruto's birthday wouldn't be for few more months, therefore it was obvious he would not expect such a thing. They wanted to let him know what he meant to them― what a great friend and person he had become. He showed them so much. And they were more than grateful.   From time to time, Hinata would turn her head to look at him; and at the confusion in his eyes. Yes, choosing her to lead him to the place was, indeed, the best idea. He didn't suspect a thing. It was going to be such a lovely day.

   With the quiet sound of feet tapping on the ground as she ran towards the teammate waiting for her, Hinata decided to call out one more time in case he didn't hear her.    "Shino-kun, hello! Have you been waiting here for a long time? Is Kiba-kun here, yet?" she asked quickly, the excitement just slightly too obvious in the tone of her voice. It's already been a while since their team had some time to themselves and she couldn't wait to hang out with the ones that were closest to her.
