April has started

The girl's– April's– hand felt soft, but still had the hint of a few calluses, as if she worked with her hands often, but still took care if them. She gave it a firm grip and a shake before giving her a smile.

“I’ve been here for a couple of months. I left my old place to come here since I heard Roosevelt University has a good boxing program. Figured I might as well try and explore the city a little more.”

She leaned back against her seat, looking back over at the city lights. “This place certainly wasn’t what I expected it to be, but it has it’s own perks.”

“Hey, that’s really cool! I’m doing a break year myself, but I’m looking into colleges upstate for the fall. I love the city, but I don’t think it’d hurt to get away for a while...”

April couldn’t help a grin at the firmness of the handshake; after all, she was kind of used to it, and it was always oddly comforting in a way. The boys all had firm grips- half of them could pick her up one handed if they really wanted. Felt more natural when someone didn’t immediately assume she was soft.

“So you said you came for a boxing program? That’s really cool. I’ve never done boxing, but I’m in martial arts training.”

“An abandoned railway where there’s an angry ghost!” He said. He took in a deep breath. Calm yourself, Mikey. “I mean, yeah, it’s old, but have you seen those videos of people gettin’ scared by things here?”

Wait, of course she knew that. That’s probably what drew her here to begin with. He enjoyed thrills, he was known for doing things that were more on the dangerous side, but ghosts were different.

“Well… at least we got a camera to catch anything.”

She couldn’t help but smile at him as he carried on; Mikey did put on a brave face in so many situations, especially considering some of the bananas stuff they saw in their day to day, and yet the threat of spooks always seemed to get right under his scales.

Reaching over, she gently patted him on top of the head, free hand resting on her hip as she turned her head to gaze down the steps into the cobweb-strewn ticketing area of this rotting old ruin.

“Awh, it’s okay, Mikey. Those people are probably just gettin’ spooked by their own shadows! Nevermind that the ghost’s supposed to be of some crazy axe murderer who hid in the tunnels. No worse than what we’ve dealt with in the past, right? I mean, what’s an axe murderer to a messed up hunk of super possessed armor tryin’ to take our heads off!”

If someone had asked her if she’d been paying any attention up until that moment, April probably would have said “no.” But at Raffae’s comment, she swung her head around... and her blue eyes went round in her face, lips turning into a very small frown.

“Oh- oh. Oh my god.”

That had... not been what she’d expected. What even was that? They’d seen some freaky mutants in their time, but that? This outing had just turned into something way more spooky, and how.

“What- what is that? Does it- oh my god Raffae I don’t think that thing has a head.”

One that was supposedly super haunted, but that was beside the point. Besides, he’d told her he wanted a chance to prove himself... so what better chance to prove himself than here, out in a spooky old train station that had apparently been the site of some grisly murder a decade or two back?

Of course, this kind of thing was right up her alley. Getting scared for fun was one of her favorite past times, even if she couldn’t always get the boys to accompany her on her excursions.

Leo did, sometimes, but her haunted attraction tastes tended towards the gruesome, and her poor dear little brother didn’t always have the stomach for it.

“I mean, think of all the history! This place is way old. You can rub it in D’s face.”

Just planned out some changes re: The Power Inside Her (some MAJOR changes) bc it’s my sandbox and I’m building a castle. I’ll type up the whole thing later today!
