hello i am sockfunky and this is my blog i made to post about denkikujira
i have adhd social anxiety and just general social awkwardness so sorry in advance (and please tell me if im doing something thats making you uncomfortable!!)
also feel free to ask me any questions pertaining to denkikujira, or even just personal questions (not too personal ofc)
feel free to ignore this but could you pretty please translate "あははん僕らは夢幻紀行"/"dull night tripper" by 電ǂ鯨 because judging by the machine tl it could be one of the osomatsu songs ever of all time....... thank you 🙏
HELL yeah brother
Title lit translation: Ahaha~ We're going on a dream trip!
Housebound drunkard- and every day, I yearn
To go on those trips I'll never be able to take
Hey, I wanna go on a trip with you
While we're on the topic of silly things
Hey, I wanna go on a trip with you
Ahaha~
Housebound drunkard- and every night, I yearn
To see those people that I'll never be able to see
Hey, I wanna go on a trip with you
While we're on the topic of silly things
Hey, I wanna go on a trip with you
Ahaha~
Ahaha~
We were riding on the train in my dream
Further and further away from this town
And when we reached the far-away town where you live, and you got off,
I woke up
I can't go anywhere at all, so I'll just drink
Cuz no matter where I go,
I'll just resort to buying cheap happiness
So that trip I'll never be able to go on remains just in my dreams
Hey, I wanna go on a trip with you
Let's admire the same old boring scenery!
Hey, I wanna go on a trip with you
Ahaha~
Ahaha~

"housebound drunkard": from my shallow research, and going off the context of the rest of the song, ドランカー seems like it refers to "kitchen drunkard": alcoholic housewives who drink even while doing chores, possibly stemming from tasting alcohol while cooking
(my personal (non-japanese) (fwiw this source says it originates from american housewives though) interpretation of this is like... housewives who live so little, are stuck in the home so much, that the only chance they even get to taste alcohol is when they cook for their families, because they're so isolated from greater society and their lives are so unfulfilled....)
of course it could also just mean alcoholic generically but since the rest of the song is about not going anywhere i think using "housebound" here also conveys like the sense of misery and isolation implied with the alcoholism
i actually forced anon to send this because i was looking at the translation and thought "hmmm..... osomatsu....." and looking at it again IT IS‼️ it really is.
anyway talking about the song itself and how it could fit into the denkiqujira cinematic universe(lol) i was thinking this could maybe be aoi post kurashi gas meter or even post cynicallity? now that I'm thinking about it again post cynicallity would make more sense.
so maybe even AFTER cynicallity she's still in denial about akanes death (as she was in kurashi gas meter). this song just paints an image in my mind of a depressed aoi drinking away her sorrows while reminiscing about her sister
and she definitely did have drinking problems even before akane died so her becoming an alcoholic isn't too far of a stretch
but the bridge does give me some doubt about this.. because her and akane did live in the same apartment so this could even be a completely different story❓ this is definitely a possibility, and is one I'm definitely more inclined to belive in. the kotonohas do have a lot of oneshot stories.
anyway about ops interpretation: i definitely could see it like that too, maybe a housewife who never gets to see her husband?
i suppose nothing is truly confirmed unless this song gets a video (they also answer marshmallow asks sometimes but i don't read those lol. maybe sombody has asked about this song?)
either she has a matching one under her hat or she detached the one on her hat to put it in her hair. im guessing its the same one that can somehow be attached to both fabric and hair? its probably just an error the creator didnt think about and im just thinking too hard lol
