☦ Romanus is watching with quite amusement. FINALLY someone who loves snacks as much as he does. Yes. He chuckles and devours a few of the other snacks. He’s got all sorts of kinds. Big ones, small ones, everything. Ah, he can already hear Daylen’s voice in the back of his head. Tail flicks upward and he’s laughing now. Romeo. Well, he can be quite chivalry like the guy. “Nah, I only have 10 minutes before I switch back.” he shrugs. He didn’t even bring any spare of clothes, but Romanus has always enjoyed being naked. No problem. “feel like I wanna take a lucky guess and say that’s you?” it was just by how he was playing with the snack. He could be wrong though. 

Kuro knew there was an easier way to demonstrate than just telling him. He threw to the side umbrella that he had been clinging onto partially for dear life this entire time. The moment sun beams hit him, his skin began to smoke. Before anything could burn off though, Kuro disappeared with a small *pop*. 

“Ding ding, you’re right. However, I don’t have a time limit and I can’t control it I just change when the sun is out. I guess you can say I’m nocpurrnal.” He said speaking in his full human voice as he moved back to the bag of snacks. He was perfectly comfortable in either form. He just didn’t like telling others unless he felt that they would be inclined to keep his secrets. There was hardly any differences between two shapeshifters anyway. “I guess you’ll have to guess though, if I was a cat who turned into a human, or a human who learned to turn into a cat.”

             ┏ ⋮ ✖ ⋮ ━ ▶ Watching his insults fail to land a blow on the stranger caused his face to contort, reflecting his irritation ─ but this was only because his lack of reaction reminded Bakugou  of a rival he wasn’t terribly fond of. “… Who the fuck would just accept that they’re a fuckbucket? Show some kind of damn reaction at least.” People like him truly did piss him off to no end, and hearing him admit he was easily scared didn’t help his opinion on the guy improve.

            "That’s a bullshit excuse.“ A scowl appeared on his face while his tongue adopted a harsh tone. "Not everyone who has a quirk related to cats is going to fucking be scared to climb down a tree. Being a ‘scaredy cat’ is just your weakness alone.” The blond was confident in his words since he had seen pro heroes with feline features act bravely.

            A part of him had a strong desire to punch the disinterested look off the stranger’s face, but he held himself back since harming a civilian would more damage than good. “Fuck off. Something like yelling isn’t going to tire me out.” 

Kuro realized what was happening. This is what they called a negative feedback loop, his lack of response would just get the boy in front of him angrier and angrier until he exploded. If only he had the energy to try to change his attitude just a little bit, but Kuro had already exhausted himself climbing up that tree earlier. “You’re an amazing person then, this conversation has me tired already and I’ve barely raised my voice.”

Kuro crossed his arms and thought for a moemnt as he let his head loll forward. The thoughts that crossed his mind were what he was always thinking about, what was the easiest way to get out of this situation? 

“I’m not disagreeing with you. I’m pretty pathetic, especially in comparison to you.” Kuro said, opening his eyes once more. Even though he was doing so with a sleepy look in both eyes, he was looking directly at Bakugou finally. “I... think heroes are amazing, I really do. I also know that I could never become one. To me right now, your rectitude, it’s blinding.” Kuro said, seeming almost sincere for a moment before he closed his eyes again. “Even if your personality leaves a lot to be desired.”

☦ He doesn’t mind the mouthful speaking. hell, he does it all the time, too! Sometimes to get on Hayato’s (if possible) or even Wolfwood’s nerves. SOMETIMES Ian whenever they see each other. It’s so much fun, really. he chuckles with a nod. A creature with many names, huh? That’s quite interesting. “I’ll go with Kuro.” It’s short and simple. Just the way he likes it. Lime green hues lowers to watch the small creature devour the snacks. He takes some himself. “You can call me that OR you can call me Rome. Short for Romanus.” 

Kuro picked up a small appetizer and held it in the air as if it were a prize. He already said he didn’t feel like explaining, so there was no use telling the dragon behind him that he was given a new name with every master. No, his food was much more interesting, Kuro flicked it about in the air for a moment playing with it like a cat might. “Pchoooo~!” He said with pursed lips. Oh, but the dragon had given him his name. 

Kuro was not an individual worthy of befriending humans, but a dragon might accept someone like him. “Alright Romeo, sounds like a good name. So are you a dragon all the time? I’m just asking because I might know a certain guy who can change from a cat to a person.”

☦ They got closer and that’s when Romanus smells it. No worries, he has nothing against vampires. With his tail he gently pats as the other approaches and then he nods, “Yeah, I got you bud. I got snacks for days.” Days is an understatement. He’s prepared himself for the next year just in case he is still here! Damn. He gently pushes a bunch of the snacks he had near him toward the other. 10 minutes of baskin’ in the sun as a dragon with a vampire…Yeah today is definitely a good day.

“So what’s your name?”

“Finally, some good news!” Kuro said as he looked at all the snacks in front of him. He supposed it made sense, a dragon’s stomach had to be roughly his size and therefore could fit a lot of human sized snack food inside of it. Immediately there werechips in his mouth, but Kuro continued to talk even with the alternating crunch sounds between his every other word and small chip fragments occasionally flying out of his mouth while he talked. 

“I have a lot of names so that’s a complicated question. It would be a lot of effort to explain them all, so it’s easier to say that currently my name is Kuro. How about you, dragon who guards the secret stash of snacks?”

            ┏ ⋮ ✖ ⋮ ━ ▶ The stranger’s dull and lifeless reaction to his outburst only served to make his temper flare and voice to rise to a level that was socially unacceptable. Not like he gave a damn about the civilians who visited the park for some peace and quiet, only to find a young teen losing his shit in broad daylight. “A FUCKBUCKET IS WHAT YOU ARE!” Eloquent as ever.

            The way the man simply tossed him aside due to a loss of interest didn’t sit well with him. Being treated like he possessed no threat at all jabbed a part of him that was fragile and sensitive about his self image. Gritting his teeth, he jerked his head towards the figure walking away from him and snapped his jaws open to bark more insults at him.

            The slight pause that popped up when the man abruptly turned around transformed into silence when he started spitting out words of gratitude. It was strange to hear them since he never bothered helping others. Bakugou had seen many rescues on live tv, but he had never experienced it until now. He never gave a damn about rescuing people and looked up to heroes for their victorious ways, so being called a ‘good hero’ for something as measly as rescuing a cat from a tree… Was this what it meant to save as a hero? 

            It was something he had to think about if he wanted to pass the next test for his hero license, much to his annoyance. A grunt escaped his lips as he brushed off the compliment for committing a deed many would consider heroic. It helped his anger to slightly subside at least. Though, he was annoyed to hear about the man’s cowardly ways. “What the hell? Your powers sound like a fucking pain in the ass. Stop being a damn coward and just help yourself next time.” 

Kuro was starting to detect that this young one in front of him might have some kind of temper. If he were a more reactive person, he might have noticed that sooner but Kuro firmly believed in taking everything in stride. This boy’s yelling, getting stuck in a tree, living an immortal cursed existence as a vampire, everything was best dealt with by not dealing with it at all. “What a twist. It turns out I was the fuckbucket all along.”

He said in a dry voice as he started to offhandedly scratch an itchy part on his back side. He really wished he were a cat right now, it was so much easier to relieve your itches when you had claws as opposed to these weak human nails. “I mean, what were you expecting exactly? I’m a kid who turns into a cat. I guess you can say that makes me a natural scaredy cat.”

He stopped scratchin and finally pulled up his food. The same hood had a large fur portion which stylstically was shaped like two cat ears that adorned the top of his head when his hood was pulled off. Kuro’s fashion taste was so subtle. Sleepily, he yawned for a moment, the boy’s yelling unable to disturb him at all, before finally his eyes refocusing on Bakugou giving him a look to say ‘oh, you’re still here’. 

“So are you going to like keep yelling at me until you tire yourself out? If so, I can recommend a good place for you to nap after that.”

Eto went silent, listening as the damned freeloader before her explained himself. She was far more than annoyed now, no, she was far beyond simply annoyed with this entire situation. Yet, she said nothing for a moment, the anger she felt simply bubbling under her skin.

He could have mentioned all of this long ago when she had exposed him for what he truly was, and yet, he still had kept quiet – what’s more, he had continued to dare hang around, occasionally let in by Rohan in that cat form of his.

Eto silently clicked her teeth together.

“I see.” She looked at the chain, wondering just how long it would last.

“… Yes, do you have a problem with it?” She wouldn’t have cared even if he did.

Eto stood, not bothering to wipe dust off of her person or try and fix her already unruly curls. Instead, she glanced at Kuro coldy, only to look at whatever the chain was that now bound them.

“How long will this last?”

So he was a damned freeloader, how cruel. Vampires still had feelings to you know. However, cats did not have any feelings whatsoever, so he could see why she could make that mistake looking at him. 

“Not really, I was just making all that stuff up about vampires and beasts, and whatever to mess with you.” Kuro said, though, from his earlier attitude it must have been easy to deduce that Kuro did not think much of being a vampire or the burden of being one. He did not think much of anything really, too much effort. 

“Oh wait, you mean your pandas. Yeah, I don’t really like little kids so you should probably try to keep yourself covered.”

Really some people had no shame at all. Thought Kuro who had been living at a stranger’s house for weeks and now was manipulating a technicality so he could stay there. He crawled back into the shadows before the sunlight could get him. 

“Hell if I know, do you expect me to remember the rules of a vampire’s existence? There’s so many of them, jeez.”

As he said that, the chain evaporated into smoke as if it had never existed in the first place.

“Oh, well there it goes.”

☦ Don’t mind the big dragon bathing under the sun by the ocean. He’s just chillin’ like a villain and enjoying himself. “Ahhhhhhhh, this is the life.” And of course at the corner of his eyes, he sees someone. Why enjoy this alone, when you can have someone lazily bathe under this sun with you? “Heeeeeey! I got snacks if you wanna join me!” Because randomly inviting someone is not creepy at all. 

Not to mention, a big ass dragon. 

"Did somebody say snacks?” Kuro said popping up from the shade he was lying in. It was near impossible for a vampire to enjoy laying down at the beach, but a lazy man was a clever one so he would always find a way to be lazy. 

He scratched his neck looking at the distance between him and the dragon. The problem here was not the dragon, he was a vampire what right did he have to judge really, but how exactly he planned on making it across without touching the sunlight. Kuro looked up at the umbrella he was under, and picked the entire thing u holding it in the air as he walked to close the distance. 

“Hey, I brought a stolen umbrella so.... feed me already.” Cats were so greedy.

Eto let go, thinking that the issue of the not-cat was settled for the moment.

It was not.

She let out a small noise of surprise, and it would certainly have sounded embarrassing should anyone else hear it. The outside pavement was hardly enough to pierce her skin, even with the suddenness that she was tossed onto it. Looking up from where she lay, her vision upside down for the moment, Eto blinked.

What.

“What?”

She popped up, looking at Kuro, a scowl on her face.

“What nonsense are you spouting now?” What contract? Was this more anime nonsense? No wonder this layabout and Rohan could get on so well, they probably sat around and talked about anime together when Eto wasn’t around. Somehow, that thought annoyed her enough to distract her, but only for a moment.

“You’re pulling some ridiculous vampire trick, aren’t you?” She wouldn’t be falling for it – even if she had just fallen in the literal sense.

“A ridiculous vampire trick, huh? Ahhh, I wish I could have it so easy as a ghoul does. All you have to be is simple predators. Being born wrong, living a cursed existence? Don’t make me laugh, your so called burden is no different than a lion’s.”

Kuro sat up on his own this time and this time looked down at Eto next to him. His eyes were glowing red as blood. “Vampires break the natural order of the world, and come back rom the dead, and because of that our very existence is a sin. The rules which we are strictly bound to are our punishments.”

Kuro picked up the chain that was binding between the two of them. It was almost physical, even though it looked to be made of shadows. He shook it for a moment to prove that it was real. “A servamp is sin, and their salvation lies in their eves. The contract that you just stumbled ass backwards into, when you gave me an object and a name. I didn’t think it would work on another bloodsucker, but I guess you’re an exception little dhamphyr.”

With that, Kuro laid back down. He did not feel like walking on his own back inside, Eto could drag him if she wanted. He looked up at her one last time. “Hmm... panda panties, really?”

The burp was a surprise and brought out a short laughter from Gao. He poked the side of small Kuro in front of him and shook his head slightly. He was at least eating. The diet however…

“If that’s all you’re eating all this time, I’ll be concern.” Despite being a child, he was also an athlete himself and didn’t find too much appeal on snacking away on unhealthy food for too long. (He can make some exception with desserts but even that had a limit.)

“You don’t have to beg for it, Kuro-san. I’ll gladly give you some food if you’re ever hungry! Is there anything you prefer? Besides the one you mentioned. Something that’s not a snack.”

Kuro felt the kid’s concern for him. It was like an icky feeling in his chest, wishy wasy. It was better off when people did not care about him. He could hardly handle, the expectations and emotions of others, too much bother.

He was sure if he told the kid what he was really hungry for, the kid would turn and run away. Perhaps it would be better that way, for Gao’s own safety, but Kuro could not take the risk. He really did not like to be called a monster even though he knew he was one.

The cat jumped to his feet suddenly in excitement. 

“I know what you can get me! Sardines! Listen to this, Gao. Sardines are the most ideal food because they are full of nutrients, like omega-3 fatty acids. In other words, they leanse your blood, prevent various disease, and help you burn fat. Cheap sardines hold the potential for unlimited power!”

Do cats even eat chocolate? She hoped so, she wanted to give it a more personal taste for the feline and added fresh fish inside the candy, probably not a good idea. She places the box in the same place he last saw him adding a card that reads: “Happy Valentines Days little friend!! I hope you enjoy it, all my love Usagi.”

There was no reason in particular to tread over the same spot twice. Kuro was like a wandering cat, he wanted to explore every inch of the city. Perhaps then he would find some kind of satisfaction. He was not an animal though, he had no territory to maintain and no other compelling reason. He just came because he felt like it, that was what he told himself. 

It was night time though, so he came as his true form. The red eyed vampire looked around once, but could not smell anybody nearby. It took him a little bit of waiting, to see what had been left for him. He knelt down and picked up the box shaking it for its contents. Chocalate ah, how sweet, he was going to stuff all of it in his face. 

He stopped for just a moment though. These chocolates, did he really deserve them. He wasn’t a cat at all, nor a person who deserved any kind of friends. “I’m sorry...” He muttered nobody in particular as he put the chocalates where he had left them and hoped they would look as if nobody had touched them.

Did the correction or given information helped Gao’s stance on the matter? Not really, but since he hardly knew the guy, it felt out of bounds to push for more understanding. Especially when he repeatedly shown signs of refusing to speak more than the basic.

“Awkweird? Pfft.” He can’t deny that he can understand some sentiments of being told what to do, but it sounded kinda of lifeless in a way. “You are cute though, Kuro-san.”

The tiny yawn just seem to make his point.

“In your previous life huh… well, if you’re living like that, do you at least make sure you get enough to eat then? I wouldn’t want someone like you to starve in this place.”

Oh, he had to go and ask that question. Kuro was not a cute little cat to be fed catfood, tuna, or even catnip. He was a bloodsucking monster, no matter how much he wanted to avoid talking about it. The person in front of him however, was a kid who did not need to know that fact.

Kuro forced himself to burp.

“Urrp! I eat plenty! Potato chips, ramen, curry you name it.” If he subsisted entirely on salt rather than blood that might even resemble a healthy diet. Kuro patted his own stomach with his paws to make the act all the more convincing. 

“If you want to feed me more though, I’m all up for it. I’ll even put on a cute face to beg, mew~” The truth was he had not drank blood in ages. It was the reason for his small form. Technically he was starving all the time, but once again he would rather not think of that.

“That’s debatable. I can definitely pet Drum when he’s out of his armor. Although, he isn’t fluffy like you so it definitely isn’t as relaxing, but I do have Pancham for that!”

He watched Kuro rolled with mild interest and amusement. He himself never actually had a pet, but they had adoring charms to them. Kuro wasn’t an exception despite not actually being a normal cat. Or maybe he was a cat before he was human? His hand reached over to pet the small black body.

“Eh? You’re a pet?” 

The idea of Kuro being treated as one felt wrong. Even if he didn’t mind, it felt demeaning to Gao. He smiled briefly at the play of his name, scratching underneath Kuro’s chin.

“That’s kind of strange though isn’t it? You’re also a person… so being a pet to your owner must be weird.” 

“Something like that, if you had to get technical I would say I’m more like a servant. I don’t really want to explain it though, explanations are difficult and boring.”

He said, rolling on his back once more. The mere thought of it made him tired. He did not like to think about what he was, unless he was thinking about how cute he was. Then he could make a small exception.

His tail swished back and forth as he looked up to Kuro to continue the conversation. 

“The most important thing about me is that I’m cute! I don’t think so, it’s not awkward or weird or even awkweird. It’s nice really, having somebody to tell you what to do, then you don’t have to think for yourself.”

Kuro let out a sound like a yawn, but with his small body it was an incredibly tiny noise. “When you’re a cat, you can take naps whenever you want too, and just wander around all day doing whatever. In my previous life I was sure I wished to be reincarnated as a cat, that’s why it’s a dream come true.”

Eto came downstairs from a long night’s rest – she had only slept a few hours, but had gone on a mission that had proven more trouble than she had assumed. Her body felt a bit sore, tho that was because she simply had not eaten as much meat as she should have… No, a nice rest was all she’d need…

A familiar smell made her nose twitch, and Eto frowned.

“More than you.” She simply retorted back, holding the layabout shapeshifter above her head with one hand.

If there was one thing she disliked in others, it was laziness.

She carried him towards the back door, stopping to open it with her other hand.

“Out, Kuro.”

Kuro had been trying to enjoy his 3DS. He supposed that he could still do that though, even when Eto lifted him up in the air. The key to laziness, he had always held, was flexibility. He was a cat so he was very flexible. As he stared at the screen though,he could not help but notice he was being carried away in a direction he did not like.

Oh, they were going outside. That was no good at all, it was much less warm out there. “I wouldn’t do that if I were-”

“No wait, don’t say my name-”” He warned in a monotone voice, not really making an effort before he was suddenly thrown out onto the pavement. Eto, however, had said his name a moment too early causing the contract between the two of them was complete. Dark shadow hands wrapped around Kuro’s next, then extended outwards towards Eto wrapping around her wrist, creating a chain between them as Kuro fell backwards in the air.

Which meant that Eto was jerked off her feet to fly back with him, and land alongside him. Kuro only moved his head to look at her without getting up. 

“I warned you. Now the pact is sealed.”

Kuro had drawn up all the curtains in his new house. It got cramped, walking around in his cat form all day long. He was so tiny. Oh, he could probably solve that by just drinking a small amount of blood, but that was too much effort. After he finished stretching his back like a cat, even in his more human form, Kuro flopped backwards on the couch. 

It was always good to stretch properly relaxing. He did not want to pull a muscle from relaxing too hard. That would definitely be a pain. Kuro’s eyelids felt heavy, he thought the perfect way to start this evening off would be a nap. 

Apparently though somebody had oter intensions as he soon found himself being lifted without his control. Kuro lazily opened one eye to see pretty much who he expected, the pointy one was too skinny to lift him. “Wow that’s impressive what can you bench press?” Kuro said, before being shaken in the air somewhat. “Hey be careful, you can’t just pick a cat up without permission this is animal abuse.”

He wasn’t even a cat right now.
