in my own personal opinion, any AU where Aomine and Momoi aren’t childhood friends is a sad AU indeed.  in star trek AU they’re absolutely still childhood friends!!  Momoi and Aomine grew up in a boring Earth suburb and even though they didn’t go to all the same schools (Momoi went to an all-girls high school and Aomine went to a Starfleet prep school) they’ve been friends for as long as they remember.  they moved out to attend the academy together and Momoi spent more time in Aomine and his roommate Kuroko’s dorm that first year than she did with her own roommate (a nice girl, but her mandibles gave her a little bit of a lisp and Momoi was too embarrassed to keep asking her to repeat herself so she had to guess what she was saying for the first three months).  she and Aomine and Kuroko have all been friends since the academy, and even after the boys had their awkward falling out she made sure to keep a close eye on both of their well-being.

Aomine’s an adult and he can pretty much take care of himself, but she keeps him from getting into serious trouble with disciplinary officers through strategic scheduling suggestions and by blackmailing giving him incentive to behave (it can be a tough universe when your best friend of 20+ years has an incredible memory and absolutely no qualms about announcing your embarrassing childhood secrets and misadventures over the ship’s PA system).  conversely, he always stops by her room to make sure she’s awake for breakfast because she’s been known to forget alarms and it’s better for everyone if she’s been given time to wake up before going on shift.  the two of them make a formidable pair when they’re sent on away missions together.

Midorima and Takao didn’t meet at the academy like a lot of the other kids did, they actually met for the first time at the christening ceremony for the ship everyone is assigned to.  Midorima was still ridiculously jet-lagged from the ride over from Vulcan (where he’d been finishing part of his medical degree in one of their universities) and Takao had definitely partied a little too hard about getting his first assignment the night before, so neither of them actually realized that they were standing next to each other in the commemorative photo taken of the inaugural crew until much, much later.

the first time they remember meeting each other is when Takao is sent to medical to get what his supervisor is pretty sure is a concussion checked out.  Takao touches all of the equipment, tells Midorima about the rumor going around that he’s secretly a Vulcan or half Vulcan or something, asks a million questions about weird, non-humanoid biology, and then barfs all over him.  Midorima diagnoses him with a grade 2 concussion and tells him not to work for three days and then goes back into the refresher to change his pants and mutter nasty, horrible things about irresponsible crew members who don’t know when to ask for a bucket.  Takao is escorted out by a nurse and says lots of mean things about the rudest doctor on the ship to his friends later when they come to make fun of him for giving himself a concussion by slipping in the dining hall.

there are a lot of comical and serendipitous meetings later that eventually lead to friendship, but that’s the first time they interact!

So. It has been awhile since you've talked about silly powers AU, but I am Very Curious about the Uncrowned in this AU, can you tell me what their powers are?

Kiyoshi - he smells like flowers!  he can’t turn it off and it changes with his mood!  [more on him here]

Hanamiya - he has telekinetic powers!  they’re stronger (can lift more) than the ones Kuroko will eventually develop, but the range is significantly shorter.  he can lift pretty much anything so long as it’s at a horizontal distance that he could reach with his fingertips (without moving his feet).  vertically he has a limit of abt 20 feet, so, theoretically, if you stood close enough to him, he could yank you up into the air to the height of a 2 story building.  you know.  for fun.  (his powers settled all at once when he was about halfway done with his last year of middle school and he knew from the moment he woke up that day what was what.)

Mibuchi - he literally glows.  not exactly like those glow-in-the-dark stars, but more like a nightlight.  like the light is coming from behind his skin and shining through it.  it turns on at a low level automatically once it gets dark enough for him to start having trouble seeing, but with concentration he can turn it off.  he can also make it brighter, but he has no protection from it so if it gets turned up too high he’ll accidentally blind himself temporarily.

Hayama - he can distort his facial features!  it’s not very useful for anything and mostly it just freaks people out.  he can’t make his face mimic anyone else, but he can make his eyebrows disturbingly comically large and lengthen his tongue to annoy his teammates.  (he can also do things like change nose and ear shape/size)  if he says “hey, look at this!” don’t look bc he’s probably making some stupid face at you.  yes, he makes that one tooth a little larger on purpose.  he doesn’t typically change teeth sizes though bc it can fuck up his jaw and be super painful.

Nebuya - he’s one of those guys who got their powers pretty early on so he got to watch all his friends develop theirs later.  he can stick things together.  like, permanently.  he has to physically touch both objects, but once he’s had his way with them, their molecular structures are actually combined (in way that probably completely defy principles of chemistry) so that the place where they join has mingled so they’re actually one object.  they cannot be pulled apart, but depending on what he’s stuck together, they can be severed in other ways (like cutting or shattering).  potential uses for this: sticking annoying teammates’ jerseys to their shorts after they use the “hey, look at this!” trick one time too many so they can’t change without destroying their uniform.  note: this power does not work on living things.

okay first of all, hello to anyone still following this blog!!  guess who has two thumbs and can’t run 3 blogs at once while also going to school!!  it’s me!!  luckily, it’s summer again and I have much more free time so I can start this up (probably a little slowly) again, which means requests have finally been reopened!

Okay but Kise taking Kasamatsu on their first date to the Aquarium (this is part of the super powers AU) and spending half the time sweating and asking the goldfish for advice (because the minnows are no good, they just want them to make out already) and Kise cries because goldfish have very emotional lives and Kasamatsu awkwardly standing in the back not knowing how to handle his emotional date (it's all good in the end because Kise ends up taking the minnows advice and they do eventually kiss)

Star Trek AU: [GoM] [Seirin] [Himuro+Takao+Mibuchi] [Kasamatsu] [AU tag]

Aomine and Momoi [longer descriptions can be found here] are both in operations.  Aomine works on a security team and Momoi serves as a yeoman on the bridge.

Imayoshi is in the science division and his concentration is alien zoology with a focus specifically on aquatic creatures.  he’s known around the ship as “that weird fish guy”.  he’s actually a rising expert in his field so he has a small team of researchers who work under his direction.  his biology is at least mostly human, but he didn’t grow up on Earth and most people are too afraid to inquire whether he’s got some kind of alien genetics in his system.

Wakamatsu is a security officer!  he doesn’t work on Aomine’s team, he’s actually in the section assigned to investigations.  (this means that Kawahara works under him)  he helps run minor investigations concerning conflicts among the other people aboard the ship.  (since several of these conflicts have involved Aomine in the past, he harbors a grudge against him.  if he would just take his work seriously and stop bothering other people when he’s on duty, Wakamatsu wouldn’t have to spend so much time around his security team checking out disciplinary problems.)  he’s typically partnered with someone else to help tone down his, uh, enthusiastic personality.

Sakurai works in operations, but, like Hyuuga, he’s technically a pilot.  he’s more focussed on piloting than Hyuuga is, and he’s very protective of his near-perfect flight record.  (what’s an imperfect flight record?  loss of passengers?  crashing a ship?  damage to fleet property??  no one is really sure, but he insists that his record is practically perfect anyways.)  he flies shuttles and, when called for, military spacecraft.  he does shuttle maintenance when he’s on shift but not asked to actually fly anything.  his meek personality disappears when he’s in the pilot’s seat, much to the amusement of people who have met him.  (actual quote: “I will turn this shuttle around if you don’t sit the fuck down.”)

Susa works in communications, but specifically for the science division.  (I’m saying that this means that he gets to wear blue bc I refuse to let the whole team except Imayoshi wear red.)  he takes incoming transmissions and locates the correct personnel and gets them the information they need.  he also helps get long-distance communications through to distance research facilities or to other science officers stationed on other ships.  he’s pretty busy because the science officers have never-ending research and discoveries to transmit to other fleet ships or back to planet-based universities.  people like to hang out by his station when they’re waiting for something to come through, so he has to put up with a lot of easily excited scientists.  Imayoshi’s known him for ages (since the Academy) and because of some past interaction he insists on always trying out jokes on Susa whenever they have to work together.  (Izuki picked up on this and has started greeting him with puns.) ((Susa just wants to get his job done.))

Harasawa is in command and he works specifically in the assignment and direction of operations personnel.  he works closely with Aida Kagetora (who manages the training of security officers at Starfleet Academy) and has final say on ship-to-ship or ship-to-base (or base-to-ship) transfers of upper- to midlevel operations officers.  he receives a LOT of complaints and reports from the security department of the ship the KnB kids are stationed on.

I actually wrote his out when I was trying to make that original GoM post, so I’m just going to copy/paste it here from my drafts!

Kasamatsu wears command gold (and he looks damn good in it…can you imagine…) and he’s an official member of the primary [alpha shift] bridge crew!  he’s the navigator, so he works very closely with the primary helmsman.  his scores at the Academy were actually just at average in most subjects, but he was a little bit of a legend on campus for acing almost all of the navigation sims that students on that track are required to go through before being giving a commission to an actual starship.  he’s very good under pressure and he’s pretty young to have such a high-ranking position.  he, Akashi, and Momoi are the only characters (so far) to have been assigned to work on the bridge.

Can I ask about Himuro, Takao, and Mibuchi for the Star Trek AU?

Himuro and Kagami lived in a human colony planet on the boarders of Klingon space when they were young, but he was there much longer than Kagami was, so he has a much deeper understanding of the Klingon language and culture.  he works for Starfleet as an interpreter and diplomatic aide for negotiations with the Klingon Empire (he’s got such a senior position already bc they are v shorthanded in the humans-who-can-speak-Klingon-and-not-get-themselves-killed department).  he’s not always stationed on the ship the rest of the KnB kids work on because he goes where he’s needed, but he’s been there from time to time.

Takao is in the operations division (yes…he’s another redshirt…)!  he works in security (but I think he can also be classified as a sort of personnel officer), specifically as a personal assistant/guide/bodyguard for diplomats or foreign dignitaries who might be working on or being transported by their starship.  he’s good at making people comfortable and helping them integrate into life on the ship, and he’s incredibly observant so it makes him very effective at perceiving and calling attention to potential threats.  (he’s pretty much a body man for diplomats.  that’s what I’m saying.  he’s a floating body man.  in space.)

Mibuchi works in medical with Midorima (another blue shirt, we’d better bust out the confetti).  he’s a medical technician, which means he preforms technical assignments in med bay instead of doing the squishier parts of the job.  he knows every single person who works in medical (as well as their shift schedules and relationships statuses and food preferences) and he’s the guy to go to if you need to find out which nurses won’t laugh at you for burning your hand on a replicator (how did you even get your arm that far up it?) and when they’re on shift to help you.

okay, so!!  at the part of the AU timeline I’ve been working w/ in the earlier posts (everyone is out of the academy and on their first assignment on a fleet ship), none of the KnB kids are captains or upper-level command yet.  HOWEVER, as far as the actual flying of the ship goes, Kise is one of the pilots who’s lined up to the primary helmsman one day, and Kasamatsu is currently the primary navigator.

(regarding future captains: my dream is for Riko and Akashi to have their own ships and crews one day.  just saying.  captain Riko and Momoi her first officer.  best ship.)

OKAY SO LIKE I’m actually kinda torn between stationing all the KnB kids on one ship or having multiple separate ships?  bc there are more chances for different, fun interactions with one big ship full of ballers but also I can shamelessly give characters the jobs they deserve if there are different ships.  currently I’m on one ship w/ everyone bc I started with the GoM, but maybe later in this silly space AU timeline they split up or get transferred or something.  who knows.  anyways, read this as if the Seirin kids are working on the same ship as the GoM kids.

Riko - [chanting: kick ass, go to space, represent the human race] there are SO MANY good jobs Riko could have bc she’s so fucking smart but I settled on placing her in tactical and security (another redshirt…yeah…)!  she’s pretty damn high-ranking and she coordinates a lot of the manpower and security teams (it’s not unusual to see her joining the team Kagami and Aomine are assigned to) and also she definitely runs some of the ‘voluntary’ training sessions that are held in the mornings to keep the crew members in shape.  she’ll be wearing command gold in a few years, but right now she’s reigning in red.

Hyuuga is an engineer and sometimes pilot (again, a redshirt.  r.i.p. Seirin) who specifically works with the shields and weapons systems.  because Starfleet doesn’t go around engaging in space battles if they can avoid it, he doesn’t typically have much to do, so Riko can get away with strong-arming him into helping her with any minor engineering problem she might have (he keeps telling her that he’s not trained to reprogram the holodeck to do the things she wants it to do but he then he goes ahead and does it anyways).

Kiyoshi works in medical, technically, (so he’s wearing blue, finally someone who isn’t a redshirt) but he works more as a personnel advisor/counselor than a doctor.  he has all kinds of obscure alien cultural knowledge and sensitivity training bc he has to be prepared to advise anyone employed by Starfleet regardless of species/culture.  he’s on the same shift schedule as Hyuuga so he makes sure they eat together all the time.  also, he totally has a bionic leg.

Izuki is That Science Guy™ (another blueshirt!) who is super excited about alien plant life.  he’s a botanist by trade and he spends most of his time doing lab work and testing soil compositions and things that his friends don’t really understand or think are very exciting, but he’s having a blast.  he has way more plants in his quarters than regulation allows but no one has ratted him out yet.  he and Hyuuga have been friends since the Academy and they graduated in the same year.

Mitobe and Koganei are just part of the general maintenance crew (redshirts) who get called to fix things like broken replicators and jammed turbolifts and faulty tricorders.  no one knows how long they’ve known each other, but they’ve spent to much time together that they operate 40% through shared memory and with their combined knowledge they can solve almost any minor malfunction.

Tsuchida works in the science division (another blue!) with Izuki, but he studies microbiology instead.  he’s in a long distance relationship with a girl he’s known since high school and he wakes up at completely ridiculous hours to call her once a week.  also, he’s almost guaranteed to catch whatever illness is circulating the crew.  you’d think that he’d have built up an immunity by now, but he gets sick almost every time.

Furihata is a botanist (a third blue, imagine that) who is ranked just lower than Izuki, so Izuki introduces him to everyone as his assistant.  He doesn’t get to do a lot of work with proper lab equipment yet, so he’s sort of a gofer for the senior botanists.  he does a lot of plant watering, repotting, sample collecting (well, he holds the samples after a senior botanist has picked them out on an away mission), and when he draws the short straw he has to go up to the bridge to deliver data to the science officer.  the first time he had to go up to the bridge, he tripped getting out of the lift and his PADD went flying and hit one of the other senior officers.  he may never recover.

Fukuda works in engineering (technically with Murasakibara on the warp drive) but like Furihata he does mostly grunt work because he’s very low ranking and inexperienced.  he gets assigned to the night shift way more than he probably should be, but he manages to eat breakfast with Furihata and Kawahara when they’re having dinner.  Fukuda does a lot of monitoring monitors and dicking around on his PADD bc the officers are all in bed and can’t tell him off for it.  he and Furihata and Kawahara all took the same required physical courses at the Academy so they all bonded through mutual suffering there.

Kawahara works in security (more with the criminal investigators than the guys who are more like bodyguards) and he’s slightly higher ranked than Fukuda and Furihata, which is something he holds over them all the time.  he doesn’t have very important duties in the criminal investigation department, but just being in the department means that whenever something major happens (as is inevitable if your plot is modeled off of Star Trek episodes) his friends immediately go to him to get the scoop on the situation.

Nigou is that alien dog with the horn and that’s all I have to say about him.

PLEASE bother us with your Star Trek AU.

I’m gonna try not to ramble but historically that has almost never worked out, so we’ll see how this goes

OKAY so first off some quick character placements/descriptions (pls assume TOS uniforms bc I love the classics)  ((also I’m limiting myself to just the usual GoM kids bc I literally cannot shut up pls forgive me.  I can talk more abt others if anyone is curious??  but you’re gonna have to ask.))

Kuroko works in engineering (he’s a redshirt, good luck, kiddo), specifically he’s a systems engineer; he works with the tractor beams and transporters.  he might not have a very flashy job, but he’s damn good at it and he does his best to keep the ship running smoothly.  (you know how there’s always that one episode/plot point centered around transporters doing something that should be impossible?  he’d be the one who becomes a hero for making it work out somehow.)

Kagami is in security (so, also a redshirt).  He’s one of the regular members of a rotating security team that accompanies the bridge crew on away missions because he’s very large and strong and good at subduing threats without causing too much unnecessary harm.  also, as a bonus, he speaks Klingon (a leftover from spending part of his childhood on a colony planet in Klingon space) and can be relied upon to communicate to Klingons without causing major offense which is a rare and valuable trait and in Starfleet in this tentative TOS setting I’m kinda tossing around.

Midorima, like I mentioned earlier, is absolutely a medical officer, which means he’s wearing blue.  he did some pretty intense exchange programs to Vulcan when he was finishing his medical degree(s?) (which I imagine is way more hardcore when you’re trying to be a space doctor and you have to be able to treat space disease and aliens with weird biology) so he speaks excellent Vulcan and he has a top-notch poker face (at least, for a human).

Kise is a hotshot pilot who gets to wear command gold and he’s shadowing the current (primary) helmsman.  usually he pilots smaller transport shuttles and whatnot, but technically he’s got the training and he’s being mentored to one day be a proper helmsman and be allowed to sit on the bridge all the time.  (look: I really want Kise to be that cocky scifi character who’s like “I can fly anything.”  you know.  that kind of character.  that’s what I want.  except at the same time he’s also Kise.)

Aomine is in the same security team as Kagami, but they’re hardly ever assigned to the same shifts bc it is generally considered a bad thing when your security team tries to fight each other.  Aomine is typically sent as a bodyguard in tense situations (smh Starfleet why do you have to defuse intergalactic feuds and shit) and also he’s sent along with the away team in cases when they’re on planets that there is very little or no available data on bc he’s very versatile and preforms really well in challenging situations (read: doesn’t get anyone killed by accident when things get fucking weird bc they decided to wander around blindly on an unknown planet).  he and Kuroko were actually roommates during their freshman year at Starfleet Academy so they’ve known each other for a while.

Momoi wears operations red and she’s one of the yeomen assigned to the bridge crew.  mostly she assists the communications officer, but occasionally she’s worked directly for the captain bc her skill set is incredibly useful.  generally she’s asked to find and analyze data on the different groups that the ship encounters (like in situations where they encounter conflict and are asked to mediate a solution that would be deemed acceptable to the cultures of the affected parties) and help keep track of and coordinate the resources available to the ship.  ((I’m not explaining this well.  trust me, she’s super cool and they rely on her a lot.))  (((she’ll be a good candidate for first officer one day.)))

Murasakibara works in engineering (everyone wears red I’m sorry it’s turning out like this) and he is really irritatingly talented at his actual job but he spends like half of his time slacking off and trying to program the replicators to make novelty deserts.  when he can be convinced to do his goddamn job, he’s a warp field engineer, which basically means he has to understand how warp fields work and how the ship’s warp drive works so the ship can get from place to place quickly (which is kind of a necessity in space).

Akashi, of course, is an executive officer and he’s wearing command gold.  he’s not a captain right out of the Academy, but you can bet your ass he’s got his eye on that captain’s chair and he’s going to get his own ship eventually.  he’s the chief tactical officer (very young for the job, but as you’d expect he’s doing it well) which means he has a position on the bridge near the helmsman and control over the shields, weapons, and security (and sometimes long-range sensors and communications).  he absolutely plans to take the Starfleet bridge officer examination as soon as he can so he’ll have official authorization to take command of the ship even though he’s not the captain or first/second/third officer.

I have so much to say about this AU but I’d better cut this off bc it’s getting long, so just hmu if you have questions or you want to know more about these guys or specific other characters or w/e and I’d be really excited to share!!

During field day, Kaijo won an event against Rakuzan and Akashi for so mad he stood up and pointed to Kise and shouted "THIS IS WAR" and at that exact moment, thunder crackled and rain started pouring and everyone screamed and ran and for the next two weeks everyone was convinced Akashi was the devil himself

to be fair, using perfect copy on every event is wildly unfair and Akashi’s frustration might be justified.  it’s kind of a pain that they all have to move inside though.  (Kaijo stays very, very far away from Rakuzan on the off-chance that Akashi really could strike them down with a well-placed thunder bolt)

Ok, but going off the anon who said Imayoshi and Hanamiya keep tying in events--Imayoshi is totally doing it on purpose. He's just doing it because he likes watching Hanamiya get more and more frustrated because Hanamiya's a genius and knows how Imayoshi works, he totally knows what's going on and why but that doesn't make it any less *irritating*

so Imayoshi is, like, deliberately sabotaging himself in certain events in order to keep himself level with Hanamiya.  Hanamiya knows what he’s doing instantly - everyone else catches on probably sometime around when Imayoshi starts jogging backwards during the 800 meter run in order to chat with an increasingly furious and out of breath Hanamiya.

ok but imagine a sack race between them all. the price is a chocolate bar so murasakibara wants to do it but he can't because he's too tall for a sack and he almost cries. takao is obv shutoku's candidate, he could kill sb with his legs..

oh my god, the sack race goes slightly better than the spoon relay but worse than the three-legged race.  someone goes down immediately.  there’s blood.

(Hayama gets so excited about racing for Rakuzan that he puts his foot through the sack.  Hayakawa is killing it with his super fast jumps.  in all the confusion, Imayoshi ends up being Touou’s candidate.  he looks both incredibly silly and incredibly intimidating in his sack.)

You said Hyuuga deals with all the making out, who else is making out when they're supposed to be participating in events? (And Hyuuga is totally the guy who pulls the couples apart to yell and makes rules like they aren't allowed within 50 feet of their s/o or they'll be benched)

I think that instead of thinking about who is making out, we should consider who isn’t making out.  namely, Hyuuga.  everyone else seems to be getting some action at track and field day and he’s too busy trying to keep the PDA in check that he doesn’t even stop to consider that he could be getting some action too.

right this is a scheduled post to let you all know that I’ve answered the field day asks that piled up in my inbox and I’ve got them scheduled to post today!  I’m trying to get the inbox p empty before tuesday, but we’ll see if I have enough free time.
