Tech 101 - Last Week

Haroo! Kuroshioo desu!

Heyaa!! This will be the last (but not the least) blog for this subject. For all those week!! We made it almost to the finish line… not really the finish line because if this goes well, we are goin to pursue this business since we believe that this startup is quite promising...

Btw! Here is the transaction we had for this week with a Marine Engineer who is currently reviewing for the coming exam this November. He is quite busy for the review where he don’t have much time to do his laundry. So, when I introduced him our service he tried it and got contented of it. Although he wanted his laundry to be done at 1A which is not included in our list of laundry stations but still we grabbed the opporunity.. Why not?? It’s still included in our service since we do the delivery and make their life easier and can focus on the things that they should do..

Polish polish polish! That’s what we need the most right now. We need to polish everything since we have holes in this project.. In the MVP side I still need to refine the GUI and coding part. A teamwork with the designer is a must in order to get the desired output. Not just with the designer but also, I asked the rest of the team and some users for validation of the created MVP.

Although there are times that we are too busy regarding with other subjects, but still we made it this far through teamwork and time management. Well, arguments within the group is inevitable to occur. Honestly that happened to our team as well. Misunderstanding is surely the problem but we’ll overcome it somehow for we’ve faced a lot already together. We are a team so we must work as one while respecting one another as we do our part/task in a specific project. But I believe, we’ll reach the finish line together as we work and grow as a team!!

Tech 101 - 15th Week

Quite busy developing the interface with my team!, here goes the databasing system for our MVP, tho it has lots of bugs as for now, but we will make it somehow. We didn’t applied database system on our very first version of the app but we are currently developing a the version  with database attached to it as you can see this registration coding part which is already connected to the database..

We are currently working for it’s log-in system since to be connected in the database for there are still bugs and errors to be solve ASAP in order for it to work. But by next week, we will be able to finish the version 2 of our app(hopefully XD).

We will be presenting our very 1st MVP next week, the one we will introduce is the stand alone app with no database system, only if we wont be able to finish the version 2 of the app. But here are some teaser photos of our new GUI XD. The coding is not yet polished tho...

Tech101 - 14th Week

AHHH!! Finals is approaching! There are lots of requirements. As the hacker of the team, not just for this subject alone, I feel pressured somehow XD. Well, can’t help it, you might think it is a bad thing but there is always a good reason for everything. Yes! Thinking optimistic about this, it could serve as a preparation for the future so why not face it with all I have!?

We together with the other teams are busy doing the requirements given especially the new tasks in this subject which is the so called Most Valuable Product or also known as the MVP. We were task to make the very first version of it which are given to the programmers of the team but still needs the assistance of the rest of the team.

As the programmer, I did my part doing the so called MVP for our project. As you can see in the photos below, the GUI was made simple with the help of Android Studio application. It’s kinda laggy in my laptop in doing this project… this applications too much for my laptop I guess, like it requires a faster unit. Well, as long as it works it’s just fine!! XD

 This version of our MVP is a manual one where the users will manually put their name, address and mobile number for every transaction. But we will implement the databasing system for the next update with a user account and more features. As you can see in the interface of our MVP below, with just simple steps they can have a transcation.

Tech101 - 13th Week

Whaaa! I didn’t realize! It’s already the 13th week for this subject. Time really fly that fast… Well regarding our startup, we now spilt our team for its specific task. Not literally splitting but just focused on doing the member's task. Well, as the programmer I still need their assistance for recommendation and things…

This week, I did research for some programming materials and concluded to use the Android Studio, well it’s kinda fun learning new things right?? Good thing is that the language it used it java so I am quite familiar with some of it’s syntax.. So Here I am installing the application I will use for this subject (P.S. the backgroud photo is my waifu Shinobu XD).

While installing the application, I talked with our designer for our plan asking him to provide me a GUI first and I’ll try make the backend of it. Although I had a hard time installing the thing since it has lots of packages and my internet is not that good… “Patience is a Virtue” indeed!!

So, as the installation is done, I practiced some syntaxes since I haven’t used Java for a while. Well I got addicted using it for a bit that I forgot I have task to do. So here I am now trying to build the xml part for the layout given by our designer. And it should always set in mind that in creating the MVP, the validation of our user is always the key in everything we do to make a right path of success.

Tech101  - 12thWeek

Heyaa humans! we had our presentation last meeting, it turned out well somehow. To think that we have lots of things to do, I’m quite amaze that we were able to finish the current tasks. Well, Im goin’ to share now some updates regarding our startup!..

During the class, we presented our costumer channels and relationships that tackles about the channel economics and costumer acquisition cost which we based on the information we gathered from interviews. Here we stated the calculations and methods we used to balance the “Costumer Archetypes” which are Getting, Keep and Grow. So, we will GET costumers through advertisements, KEEP them through discount vouchers and promos and finally GROW through referrals from friends and relatives.

As we ended our presentation, our professor shared to us the current state of our big rival the STREETBy that they already accepted the laundry station who offered them for partnership and now implementing a system for it. It’s kinda shocking for me since they said last time that they might not take it but they grabbed it instead but can’t help it since they are not sure bout that at first. So we are now given a new task to think of something that they don’t have, which could be our strength in this startup project…

Well, as you can see it’s kinda challenging to think about it right?? Like, you are goin to rival such well knowned company. Still, there’s nothing to lose in trying things out. This is a big step for  us but has a high chance of failure, we risk take risk in order to grow not knowing what will happen next.

Also as for the costumer segment, we've engaged more but for now, we will be handling 3 - 5 costumers but if can, we will manage more since most of the costumers we've interviewed said that they only go to laundry stations once or twice a month...

We then engaged more laundry stations and pinpointed the nearest since we decided that we will only have 1 laundry station to partner with for now while trying this idea of ours since most of the laundry stations we've negotiated previously is way too far from where we live so it's kinda hassle for us to do the transaction especially that we are still doing ot manually... (୨୧ ❛ᴗ❛)✧

And so, since we will be implementing this by next week, hopefully it will turn out well.. Also, we will be having another presentation by next week about the update of our BMC and costumer relationships which I will topic for my next post so saty tuned!! (୨୧ ❛ᴗ❛)✧

Tech101 - 10th Week

´ ▽ ` )ﾉ  Haroo! Kuroshioo desu!

It is Intramurals!!! (in our school). Well, I went home last tuesday and I just got back here last friday. Though I missed some requirements such as seminars and some event during the inramurals. Well, I was sick that time so my mother insisted me to go home.   (︶ω︶) 

(OOT) Last Friday as I came here in CdeO, I rushed to attend a seminar, good thing I made it just on time. It was in a telecommunication named Globe, I learned new things during the session and we were toured around the place introducing such technologies they used for decades.  (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑

There was this special class last last Saturday that I wasn't aware of since I wasnt able to see the update of our group in slack, somehow I was kinda surprised to know that there will be another presentation to do this coming Tuesday. Well, my team are now currently planning and preparing for this presentation. (;´Д`)

So we had a meeting as we gathered(tho just in groupchat) we will meet soon tho for applying the plan we came up with regarding this matter.   <(´・д・｀)ノ

Tech101 - 9th Week

´ ▽ ` )ﾉ  Haroo! Kuroshioo desunee!

Last week, such progress we had accomplished as a team, not just in this matter alone but as well as the requirements for other subjects. However, we did not get these success that easily, we of course struggled and faced such difficulties behind this so called success. ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

Well, last week, we had presented our MVP during the pitch deck presentation. It turned out just fine though since we’ve prepared for it. Only one of us who do the pitching/talking in presenting our MVP since we talked about that matter and decided that he will do it, though 2 of our team will do it next time. Although I did some little mistakes regarding my part which is controlling the slides but it turned out just fine.  ¬[^~^]/

Also, the one we’ve been really struggling is our thesis proposal defense last Friday. Well, basically it’s our fault since we took it for granted and  weren’t focused on doing it in the first place then realized it late that our progress is way way too slow. It’s like doing the research in eleventh hour like for almost just in three days. Though we manged to finished it but not 100%, still it was approved!.  (~￣▽￣)~

Going back to the main topic, about the pitch deck we’ve presented, it was as well a successful one. A wireframe for our J-LEX laundry service (btw we’ve chanaged the name since it’s cool this way) is presented with its simple step by step procedure. The next step we will do is to engage more costumers and have them use our app and services.  (☞ﾟ∀ﾟ)☞

(PS. we forgot who took the photo of us during our presentation that’s why I posted late coz we were waiting for it... lesson learned: use ur own cp for taking compilation pictures!!!) (ι´Д｀)ﾉ

Tech101 - 8th Week

´ ▽ ` )ﾉ  Haroo! Kuroshioo desu!

I have a Good news and a Bad news to share!! First will be the good news of course to brighten up the mood.. So the good news is that I was wrong about presenting Pitch this week, we actually had a scheduled lecture last Monday where our instructor gave a deep explanation regarding that. It’s a good news since the presentation is moved next week where we have more time to prepare for it.  ヽ(๏∀๏ )ﾉ

The bad news however, is that we’re kinda pressured since it’s moved for a week, the expectation will rise up and a well polished output is a must. Not just us but as well as the other groups probably felt the same. Well, it’s not that bad tho since this exam will be only graded failed or pass nothing more, nothing less. Hence this is an opportunity for us to be prepared.  (ι´Д｀)ﾉ

So, going back to the main topic, regarding our startup. As  lectured last Monday, a low profile MVP is required in this upcoming exam. Low profile means just the design interface of our MVP, without the back-end coding, Honestly I was pressured regarding this before since we’re sill not done doing it. So, by hearing bout just presenting the low profile thingy saves us. Hence, we’ve created a low profile MVP using Wireframe showing the future design of our future app to be constructed with simple steps/instructions.   ¬[^~^]/

Also we’ve created a simple communication interface using messenger where we can interact with our costumer segments and key partner. This interface will serve as our partial app to be tested for our partial transactions. We also interviewed costumers for validation regarding our idea in order to finalize things up.  ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

TECH101 - 7th Week

Heya! Exam Exam Exam till next week!... means lots of requirements to comply... As a student, to manage time in making these requirements and to study at the same time is a must in order to survive the semester..  (;´Д`)

Well well well, going back to techno matter, we will have a Pitch Deck presenting our MVP probably by next next since this will serve as our exam as what I said last week. Well we still have to finalize lots of things specially our MVP to make an interface probably we’ll be using messenger app for now.  ☜(˚▽˚)☞

By the way, we made some update to our BMC, as we realized that the Habal-Habal Driver really is the only key partner we’ll have and the costumers and Laundry Shops we’ll be our Costumer Segment through subscription. Though we really still have to conduct more interviews regarding this.  (୨୧ ❛ᴗ❛)✧

However, to think that I still have exams to deal with, maybe that’s all for now.. By next week, hopefully we can present this so called Pitch Deck well with our MVP.. See ya!!   ( ﾉ^ω^)ﾉﾟ

TECH101 - 6th Week

In this week we made such progress - the Minimum Viable Product or so called MVP for short. As what I’ve mentioned last week, this MVP will serve as our exam so we are now starting to do it and we must polish it by next week. (╯◕_◕)╯

We took advantage of the social media platform in creating this MVP, since a social media is way way popular nowadays that could even advertise things up. So we used Facebook by making a page for our idea - the “JALE Laundry Express” because this platform is quite popular in this generation. (¬‿¬)

With this,  we believed that our “JALE LAUNDRY EXPRESS” could easily get advertised around the city and also it is quite  accessible for our future costumers. And also we can use the messenger app in terms of transactions for the meantime as we test our hypothesis for this idea. (~￣▽￣)~

For now, we have to polish it, and test it afterwards engaging costumers in the business world to get enough responses and information in order to see if we should really push forward this idea. Hopefully, if so, then we will pursue it for real. (☞ﾟ∀ﾟ)☞

TECH101 - 5th Week

We’re kinda busy this week, not for Tech101 alone but also we have to deal with other matter for other subjects. But lets focus on the tasks which was given to us in this subject - the so called Business Model Canvass or BMC for short. ヽ(๏∀๏ )ﾉ

Unluckily one member of our team wasn’t able to attend during the first meeting of the week since he had a tooth related surgery the day before. So together with the rest of my team, we managed to build this BMC chart barely since we don’t have that much of  time left,.. ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

Good thing the presentation was moved last Friday together with the groups from the other section. During the presentation, we explained the flow of our idea which is the “Laundry Express” then our instructor focused asking about the “habal-habal” driver part. Since then I doubt about it as well like I want another concept for that part... Well, we’ll get through that... ( ಠ◡ಠ )

Overall, our instructor officially approved our  proposed idea and require us to submit an update of our BMC weekly  and also we should start doing our Minimum Viable Product or MVP for short - the sooner the better for this serves as our midterm exam...  (ι´Д｀)ﾉ

Tech101 - 4th Week

This week is kinda hell of a week since I together with my team did lots of activities, tasks, and doing our to do list according to our timeline for projects particularly for Thesis and Techno101 yet it was quite a successful one so just worth it...

First is that we did changed our idea again for Tech101. It is called ''Laundry Express'', the concept for this idea is to deliver the laundry of the costumers to the designated laundry shop(up to their choice) . We believed that this idea is convenient at the same time it is efficient especially for those who are very busy specifically those who is working and don't have enough time for their laundry problems. Not just in the costumers alone but also in the laundry shops where the laundries stacked and causes a space problem of the shop because the costumers were not able to pick their laundries on time...

So after talking to our instructor about our proposed idea, we interviewed some laundry shops and most of them agreed to our idea since this is a benefit for them as we could advertise their shop as we do the delivery service so it is a win to win situation for short. And for the costumers, what we did is a survey in the social media since its hard to pinpoint those really needs our service. So we posted a poll in Facebook asking who are willing to avail for our service, well some do wanted our service specifically those who are working and really needs it cause it could lessen their hassle.

In Friday we attended a lecture series by the startup Streetby, we learned a lot about them as they gave us ideas and hints about startup. Later on the Q and A part, the StartBy shared that a laundry shop wanted their service door to door... I was like... ''whoa.. seriously dude?'' since the idea is the same as ours.. but the things is this particular laundry is the one who initiated for a partnership yet the Streetby is still deciding about it... That makes me want to know the name of that shop.. xD

As we got back to our instructor, we gave him the updates and approved it since he remembered our proposed idea as the Steeetby shared about it. Well, if we can.. then we must do it ahead of them.. And also we will approach Streetby since they said last time that they are willing to help if they can and at the same time they are not that willing to have a partnership with that laundry thingy. Fufufu Hype Hype Hype!.. ¬[^~^]/
