I absolutely love creating new and unique armwraps from the IKEA Kivik couch. I have owned one for the past four years and could not be happier. Here are a few of the most recent armwraps I have designed and build. If you own a square armed couch an armwrap is a must have!

IKEA Kivik armwraps I absolutely love creating new and unique armwraps from the IKEA Kivik couch. I have owned one for the past four years and could not be happier.
Step one: In one jar soak steel wool in vinegar overnight. In the second jar make a concentrate of tea (6-10 bags of Lipton per jar.)
Step Two: Using a rag cover the wood with the vinegar solution. You will see the reaction within seconds.
Step Three: Let the wood dry.
Step Four: Using a rag cover the wood with the tea solution. You can repeat step two or four if you want more aging. Once it has dried you can leave it, stain it with a color of your choice, or seal it.
Faux succulents
A client recently asked me to make a unique faux succulent for a desktop. Succulents have long been a favorite of mine, but like most indoor plants do not last more than a few months in our house.
I paired the simple succulent with locally sourced cherry. I cannot wait to make more!

I recently built a reclaimed wood bath shelf for a client. I did a dry fit in our master bathroom and quickly decided I needed to build one for us! We have found the shelf to be very useful when relaxing with a glass of red wine in the bath.

I took a walk the other morning and the idea of a coat rack using reclaimed wood and tree branches popped into my head. I saw so many unique pieces of wood that would make one-of-a-kind pieces.
Later that day I grabbed my chainsaw and headed out into the woods. I spent an hour loading up the trailer with 100’s of pieces from fallen trees. The cutting and loading was a great workout! Once back in the shop the fun part started… the hand selecting of branches and reclaimed wood. No single one looks the same. By the end of the first day I had made 15 racks. I am now on day three and cannot stop coming up with new ideas and layouts. Needless to say, I will be making many many more of these!

The K Street Modern Industrial Farm Table
We had not made a traditional farm table in several months when we got the order in for this table. It was fun to get to go back to the basics and create a piece similar to what got me started making furniture full-time! Needless to say, I have come a long way since the first farm table I built in my carpeted dining room December of 2012!
The wood is reclaimed old growth pine from a Washington DC row home. The wood has so much character! We take a great deal of time hand selecting each board, so the history and character are a feature of the finished piece.
Tiny House
In July I found a great seven acre farm with a workshop and a tiny house. The tiny house was the first project I tackled! It is by no means a tiny house I would have designed for myself, but I was not about to complain about a free tiny house next to my workshop. I knew it would make the perfect design studio for client meetings.
