(Before I start the post, I just wanna give a shoutout to those Bokorra shippers. We had our chance in S1, then we just kinda hopelessly cried... ;u;) Only read if you are okay with opinions, hard truth and analysis I was thinking last night, and I didn't make this post lastnight because I was sure I was overreacting and I needed a nice sleep before I made any stable arguments about the Finale. Alot of Makorra shippers are tagging things like #anti finale, and #anti story. What I have to say to Makorra shippers:

They concluded Makorra in season three(?) when Mako and Asami were "together" but then Korra came back, thinking they were together. When she remembered they weren't together, she broke off the relationship for good. I see alot of posts from other Makorra shippers saying that "there was no buildup". Yes, there was no build up as much as romantic couples would build up, more of a healthy friendship, which leads to my next point. You can take anysort of healthy friendship between same-gender or opposite-gender and make it romantic. You can take any action of "friendly" hand holding, and make it romantic, because romantic partners generally do the same things as best friends would, aside from kissing. (I have a friend tho and we platonic kissy forever so). Back to my first point, about Makorra ending in s3. I was more of a Fanon Korrasami fan rather then canon, but I still supported the evidence of their friendship growing stronger rather then pointing to a broken, unhealthy relationship and saying "i hope they get married". In my opinion, Asami should have been the only love interest for Mako, because Makorra kind of ruined the plot, with the main protag having a love interest for the rest of the series. (Which proven, didn't last long and was unhealthy for Mako). And to those saying "story-line" is so much more important than representation, please love yourself. The storyline was not ruined, because its not "canon". You are *choosing* to view it as a romantic push, when it could be viewed other ways, (though I'm 99% positive it was meant to have a romantic push.) I'll add more later. NOTES: I ship Korrasami, not canonly but fanonly. I ship Masami, Fanonly not canonly. I do not ship Makorra because it is an unhealthy relationship and wasn't given enough screentime imo.

I didn’t see any build up for it; I saw two characters who were good friends, that barely spoke throughout the entire book, suddenly decide to come out to one another in the last 30 seconds.  Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not someone who was ever against the idea of Korrasami, I’m just someone who prefers good story-telling over push button crowd pleasing.

And this is exactly why Kuvira turned into the dictator she was.

Su says she was like a daughter to her and a lot of people complained to me of how I implied that Su wasn’t a good mother to her, but look at her fucking face when talking to Kuvira. She literally tells her she’s gonna pay for every little shit that she’s done even after Kuvira said it herself. I apologize for my use of language but wtf?! I’m mad AF! Look at Kuvira! Fucking look at her! She’s apologized, regretted and then willingly turned her self over and accepted her punishments. This is a woman who is broken! And then Su just rubs it in her face that she’s gonna pay for it.

But with Baatar Jr, she’s loving and caring. He did more harm than Kuvira did regarding their family yet Su doesn’t hold anything against him and even tells him they’re gonna work through this as a “family”. Do you see where I’m getting at? No matter what, Kuvira was probably always the black sheep and never felt a part of their “family”. Every time she did something wrong, Su probably reminded her of the mistake. But then with her “real” kids, she gave them unconditional love and affection.

Kuvira is a woman who felt like she was “tossed aside” at a young age. She probably hoped Su was gonna take her in and treat her how she treats her other kids… but she didn’t. These two lines right here prove it. If Su really gave Kuvira the love and attention she gave her other kids, Kuvira probably wouldn’t’ve been this extreme nor came out this way. Su probably “tossed her aside”, just like her parents did.

Yes, I blame Kuvira for everything that she’s done and everyone that she’s hurt, but can you really blame her? Like really? She’s fucking hurting inside. Su was her hope of becoming a part of a real family but apparently that wasn’t the case. So Su then turns her back on their people and Kuvira wasn’t having any of it. This was something that started off as admirable and hopeful to her. She didn’t want anyone feeling the way she does. She was trying to help. Again, look at her face. She’s beaten and broken. She just wanted people to know that she will never toss them aside. But then Su is just reminding her that no matter what, she will be tossed aside

If Su really saw Kuvira as a “daughter”, she wouldn’t’ve tried taking her out or rubbed it in her face that she’s gonna get punished right after she announced that she accepts her punishments. I’m sorry but my love for Su has decreased immensely.

It doesn’t matter what Kuvira has done, if a person is this broken, you don’t ever kick them while they’re down. And that’s exactly what Su did to her.

lol uh saying sorry doesn’t excuse the shit she did, she deserves to be punished despite the kicked puppy face and turning herself in. I do agree that Baatar Jr. deserves to be on the same fucking boat tho, not that Kuvira ought to be coddled through it either. Do the crime do the time etc etc etc

She literally killed people and destroyed an entire city. This isn’t kicking you when you’re down it’s… facing what you did…

I know it’s my fault for the wording but there’s a reason why Baatar was added in here. Before even redeeming himself, Suyin was coddling him and giving him love, but even after Kuvira apologized, she kicked her while she was down.

I never said that Kuvira shouldn’t pay for her crimes. I believe she should. But I also believe so should Baatar. He knew exactly what Kuvira was doing and still supported her and chose her over his family. He even said things to hurt his family, yet Su still took him back without hesitation.

Kuvira is a woman who was supposedly like a daughter to Su so why would she treat her any different. I know the ending of my original post strayed away from the point but still.

The point of the post wasn’t to say Kuvira doesn’t deserve to be punished (because I believe she does), it was to show that growing up, she probably felt this “favoritism” from Su and that’s why she became who she was. Su loved Baatar no matter what yet kicked Kuvira while she was down.

i think what really hit me in this post is that look at bataar vs kuvira.  kuvira was probably reminded of every little mistake she made, whilst the other kids per say were treated in a motherly nature. she didn't want to be thrown aside, so she let her emotions take control of her physical body and she became this big ol'  dictator. what im trying to get at, is no matter what parent it was, she was always treated lower than bataar, or wei and wong.
