Artist Spotlight: Wishwell

For the first ever “Artist Spotlight” I decided to share with you, Wishwell. They’re a New Brunswick based band whos sound spans over genres such as Indie, Post-Rock, and more. The band released their debut EP “Reasons” on February 16th of 2016 and I am extremely impressed with not only the quality of the recording, but the performances by the band. This EP is layered with beautiful male vocals, lightly overdriven rhythms, trickling delayed guitar leads, and drums thats work as a structural backbone to the whole band. I briefly got to talk with the band and find out how they go about writing songs.

 “Improvisation is a huge component of our practice routine and transitional elements of the live set.  We thrive off of that spontaneity.  Almost all of our material is cultivated from these freeform jams, which we later structure and rewrite into cohesive songs”. -Wishwell

Cearly, this process is working for them; making the songs flow naturally and not forcing themselves to sit down and have a full complete song by the end of the day.
