i am.......... not dead ( unfortunately ) and here 2 give u a lil update !! finals week is turning me into the Sasquatch & i’m currently wanting to hang myself from the ceiling by my toes :^) i’ll be absent until nov 17 but please know that i love love love you guys including those i haven’t been able to welcome into the rp and i will try my best to survive so i can come back n be bullied by y’all ok

a binge. it could not be described as anything but a binge. a violent, volatile, runaway binge. a high he never stopped craving, one that itched and stung until he was forced to find a plaster big enough to cover the gaping abrade. a high he was determined to ride out for as long as possible. which explained his appearance. battered. bruised. bloodied. why wash away the remnants of what he was? with a metallic aftertaste tucked between swollen gums and an ache in his knuckles, he had absolutely no desire to cleanse himself of his sins. instead, he embraced them. savoured them. tucked them away with his favourite memories: because this was what he was made for, a weapon of mass destruction. between his mother and father he’d learnt that the person with the strongest upper hand comes out as victor, and that probably explained why one of the two were no longer around to voice their input on such a life lesson gained from sight alone. full of giddy adrenaline and the anxious fatigue, something that generally resulted from two nights filled up with anything but sleep - he carried on through the streets. janghyun had fought twice tonight, though one look at him was testament enough to his claims. fresh bruises on both cheeks, sweat that clung beneath the fissures in his knuckles, and a guy’s thickly packed wallet firmly clutched between hands that had yet to lose their tremor. now he stands feeling less than the victor he aimed to be under the gentle glow of the lights illuminating the streets, head resting on the cold brick surface of the local laundromats, mentally debating whether he should just go home or try for a lucky strike of three. inquiring eyes boring into his torn up form immediately extract him from imprudent thoughts, eyes catching on their phone held within their hands. ( hyun’s elder brothers, between clutching on tail ends of darkened tresses, had always told him that they hated tattle tales, and so he remained silent during their tyrades. funny how the tables turn, now he’s the one who can’t afford for people to be loose with their words. ) ❛ don’t even fucking think about it. ❜
ARMED TO THE teeth with nothing but soiled socks and flannels he doesn’t remember owning, hayden strides for the door and prods it open with a foot. the device clamped between his forefinger and thumb is relatively new — albeit his second one that month, but the first was a lost cause before he could even cook up a way to lose it. was it something about a jacked battery ? he doesn’t remember. figures, since the techie was altogether unremarkable, both aptitude and appearance considered. he twirls the mobile once, in an orbit he hopes is glaring enough to catch the stranger’s eye. twice, for the effect. a third time, because things always worked better in threes. holding the article to his ear with a quirked shoulder and a half-grin, he steps into the laundromat and starts to load up a machine that’s awfully close to the door. ‘ i dunno, sheriff. he seems a little off to me — oh, he’s tall, no doubt about that. cute, too, if he didn’t have all this muck on his face. ’

MAYBE IT WAS HIS illness that softened edges, an antidote to venom that would usually penetrate walls and seep into tender souls — much like how frail and feeble q felt these days ( upon waking he would sometimes not dare to rise, as if his was a paper heart, and the world was on fire ). but hayden’s kindness was not one of pity — they both knew that with time, qiqiang would leave only VACANCY in his wake; like he had never been there at all. oblivion was inevitable, but so was pain, and in a sick boy’s heavy chest laid the responsibility to minimize casualties. when the familiar warmth of the other embraced q’s trembling hand, came the notion that perhaps it was too l a t e for them — perhaps it already hurt. «they’re cold,» he warned as his sight fell upon their intertwined hands, ignoring hayden’s question. ‘ under-oxygenated ’ his oncologist would’ve corrected. «my hands, i mean. they’re c o l d.» with this he meant to say: don’t let go. he meant to say: you’re comfortable. maybe, for now, it was enough that his hand had known hayden’s. at least in this universe.
AND SO HE doesn’t. this perpetual intimacy that they share, on whatever basis that they’ve built, is just as crippling ( perhaps even more so ) than something gold around the girth of his ring finger. qiqiang’s right — his hands are cold. too cold. the violent prose scratching itself out in the confines of his mind, are, for the most part, far more bearable than yesterday’s affair. ‘ and so i’m warming them. ’ the sentence is punctuated with a solemn finality, the same of which stalls him when they arrive at the junction, faced off with an eastward slant towards the café and, to their immediate left, a gravelled path that winds up on the doorstep of an aromatherapy joint. ‘ what are you in the mood for ? rancid wax sticks, sticky coffee, or a psych-centre with poor ventilation ? oh, right. that’s just our dorm. my bad. ’

HE COULD RECALL the pitiful glances he had received from friends at the university when he had been chosen to room with hayden. qiqiang hadn’t known of the other boy, and even now the other wore his walls like armor. q hadn’t understood the words whispered like CONDOLENCES then, nor had he grown more enlightened now — if anything, he had grown fond of the other’s sharp comments and silent apathy ( it had laid heavy on q’s lips when he had admitted being ill, dying even, and hayden had never acted as if it mattered. maybe it didn’t ). the bright smile, the sun mirrored, spread on q’s face at the sight. «that’s not healthy,» he pointed out, hastily making to the ground and striding over to his roommate. «besides, you look fine — i PROMISE.»
A SULK RIDES easily on his features, something like sheer decadence and inhibition slathered on loose lips. the tongue, sharp and poised, softens, his expression no more macabre than the colour of first love. ( wolf without his canines. no bite, no bark. ) ‘ you promise. ’ the word tastes funny on a sheathed tongue; tastes sweeter when he’s the one being fed with it. he thrusts the hoodie about the other’s shoulders and secures it, primly, by tying both sleeves in a loop around the younger’s neck. ‘ what on EARTH were you doing on the roof ? it’s cold, and i don’t reckon it gets warmer up there. ’ ( he learns to read qiqiang in baby steps, weaned on suns and seas and that miracle in the left side of his chest. hayden knows, he’s heard it. ) he finds qiqiang’s larger, gentler hands and brackets them between his own, appraisal and this, his own wretched way of being tender. they’ll walk like this, he thinks, and they’ll wait for the ache in his gut to disappear.
