“Hey love! How was work?” You asked Taeyeon with a smile no sooner had the latter stepped into the kitchen. You tried to cover the mess you had made behind your back, hoping Taeyeon would focus on your “dazzling” smile instead.
She smiled at you, causing your heart to nearly jump out from your chest. She still didn’t seem to notice the pile of utensils behind you or even if she did, she let it slide off.
“It was great! I had so much fun recording and you do know how fun Kibum makes everything!” She said excitedly, causing your smile to grow bigger at her words and happiness.
“Did you eat?” You asked, hoping she would ask where that “wonderful” smell was coming from. Hey, you had spent the whole evening perfecting the lasagna and you had worked equally hard on the dessert. You were a bad cook and for once you were trying to make your tired girlfriend something special other than deliveries.
“Oh yes! Kibum treated me to the new restaurant that came up beside- What’s wrong?” She asked hurriedly, noticing the sudden drop of your smile. You had tried to cover it back up with a smile but Taeyeon could see the hurt in your eyes and she stepped closer to you, taking your hands in hers. “Y/N, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” You said, forcing a smile. “It’s silly. I had made dinner-”
“Oh you know what? All this recording has made me hungry again! Come on, let’s sit to eat then! What did you make?” Taeyeon asked, smiling at you even more brightly.
You felt your cheeks heat up as you fumbled around from behind to show her your masterpiece lasagna.
“I made this!” You said, grabbing the dish from behind and turning to show her. But you turned around a bit too quickly, causing the whole meal to go flying from the plate and splatter on the kitchen wall. The two of you watched in shock as all your hard work slid down the wall, onto the kitchen floor.
“I-” You began but stopped, not even sure how to continue. You could feel your cheeks heating up in embarrassment, as the little effort you had put to make Taeyeon a nice dinner was thrown away.
“Hey hey hey. It’s okay love.” Taeyeon whispered, leaning closer to you. “I’m so sorry that wonderful pasta got wasted like that. But please don’t be sad! I’m sure it was wonderful.”
“I just wanted to have one lovely date night.” You whispered, eyes down on the floor. You felt a finger gently lift your chin up, as Taeyeon made you stare at her.
“I want you to know that even if we can’t have proper date nights, being with you is more than enough for me. I love you a lot, okay?”
You nodded your head, still not happy at how the night had turned out to be. Even after she pressed a soft kiss on your lips you weren’t convinced she was okay.
“I’ll tell you what. Let’s make dinner together again. How about that?”
“But you are tired!” You protested, to which she placed a finger on your lips, looking at you sternly.
“No buts. You wanted to make me happy right? So here’s our perfect date night, you and me making dinner.”
You felt yourself giggle a little.
“But whenever we are making dinner together it's always you who’s doing the cooking!”
“Exactly! But you have the most important job of all!”
“What’s it?”
“Giving me all your love and kisses.”
