“In Virtual V.S III, Bruce Ryu’s legendary one inch punch was thought to be impossible by amateurs. But it is possible.”
“All it requires is a perfect one-frame link at the moment he stands against his opponent.”
“Do you even know what that is?”
Well, Mokuba hadn't been lying when he'd said this guy was eccentric, but when he'd called and this was the very first question he was asking, well...She couldn't say she was surprised.
"Well of course I do. It's a link between two moves that requires you to time the second move by one frame exactly. Any sooner or later and you won't pull it off."
The reply came back with confidence, but there was no sense of arrogance or haughtiness in her tone at all. Instead, it was delivered like a simple scientific fact instead.
"I'm assuming you wish for me to show up at this interview within a certain time frame down to the exact millisecond, would that be correct?"
Such a wild request would have likely put anyone else off...But not Kamira. She was a college student of science after all, so in her mind this was an interesting experiment of sorts, and she was up to the challenge.
So, with very careful planning, along with a stopwatch that helped her count every millisecond properly, she arrived at the exact time Kaiba had requested, down to the singular millisecond he had specified.
She was dressed professionally and was very well-groomed, though she'd been very careful not to choose something that would show too much skin or make her look like she had any motives other than a job. Her posture held a cool confidence that didn't waver within his presence where most others would have been shaking in their boots. Her posture was straight, expression holding a calm, composed gaze that held no sense of arrogance or entitlement, yet she wasn't afraid to look him directly in the eye either.
"I'm here as requested, Mr. Kaiba. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Roland raised the heavy black camera off the floor, perusing through the photo finish footage and timestamps.
"She's on the mark, sir.”
“Let’s just get this over with.”
Kaiba pointed at the chair that Roland has pushed in front of his desk. “Sit.”
Kamira offered a smile and nodded, taking a seat in the designated chair. One leg crossed elegantly over the other, her hands resting upon a folder she had placed upon her lap that contained her credentials. Her work history, resume, as well as a full record of her school achievements thus far.
She had always been a very organized person, and this was no exception.
"So then, I suppose you have some questions you'd like me to answer."

“Yes, that’s correct,” he said, scowling. “But your lame attempts at foresight won’t help you.”
“Now! You’ll either be clearing my office door by nine tonight, or leaving it - never to be heard from again.”
"It was less foresight and more of an educated guess." She replied calmly, not overly impressed by his attitude.
"I'll do my best not to disappoint your expectations." He really had a knack for trying to give people as little confidence as possible, it seemed. Oh well, a job was a job she supposed.

Another new "home" where she probably wasn't wanted, another new place with new people and brand new surroundings, this whole song and dance had been her whole life.
Yet this place seemed quite different from the last few she'd been to. It was busy, vibrant and more full of life than most. Green grass, gigantic mushrooms all around and strange little mushroom people who seemed to hold more joy than she'd seen her whole life.
This lively place lifted her spirits in a way she wasn't expecting, and surprisingly she found that she didn't mind it. Maybe being here, even if she wouldn't stay permanently, wasn't going to be such a bad thing after all. As she was led to the home she'd be staying in, the sounds of what seemed like a rather large family could easily be heard through the door, and as the social worker knocked on the door, she stood quietly and simply just took in the new environment she'd been led into.
{Changing Kamira back to her original FC because I like it way better than her current one~. So from here on out, her icons will be looking like this:
Okay, now on to starters and replies~!}

Collecting various species of plant life for a scientific research study was a rather tedious process, but one that Kamira tended to find a lot of peace in. She loved going through the various different plant species and collecting small samples of their leaves, perhaps a small living twig here and there, never enough to bring any harm to the various different flora within the forests surrounding her study area.
Sitting down upon a rock within a small clearing, she pulled out her notebook, already quite full of different notes about each plant species, and began to write more observations about every single one she had just finished collecting. Taking into account their shape, the texture and color of each leaf, and many other components. However, it wasn't long before her research was interrupted by a large shadow flying overhead and she looked up, eyes widening slightly.
Two massive, winged creatures were gliding overhead, though due to the distance they held from the ground, her curiosity was piqued almost instantly. Was this a new species of large bird that perhaps hadn't been discovered before? She couldn't help but quickly flip to a blank page within her notebook, head tilting back up to get a better look...Except that when she looked up again, they had already disappeared over the tree line and out of sight.
"How strange...Maybe I'm seeing things." She mumbled to herself, shaking her head slightly before flipping back to the current page she'd been working on and deciding to finish her notes about the plant life she'd been focused on beforehand.
Once she'd finished taking notes, she carefully placed the specimens within a bag to bring them back to the science lab at her college for further study, wanting to get an up-close look at their internal structures under a microscope, before getting up and turning to walk back from the direction she'd been coming from originally.
Though, as she walked, her mind drifted back to the two flying shapes she'd seen earlier in the clearing. She couldn't help but wonder what they possibly could have been. Perhaps a known species of large bird native to the area that were indistinguishable due to the distance, or maybe they were a non-local species that happened to be migrating. She supposed she'd never know, humming softly and trying to shake the thoughts out of her mind for the time being.

"Welcome to Cantina's Coffee Shop, how may I help you today?"
He didn't expect that...it's appreciated though. "Ah! Thanks." Just seeing the croissant did make him hungry. He decided to eat inside the building to warm up. He takes his drink and pastry and sits at an open table to eat and drink.
"Don't mention it." The young woman replied, continuing to go back to cleaning the counters and empty tables that had just been vacated with a soft hum. She was only on her second job of the day, having the night shift at another restaurant later in the evening, but it was still nice to meet someone new every now and then.
"It's pretty cold out there today, seems like we might have a winter storm coming through soon."
"Welcome to Cantina's Coffee Shop, how may I help you today?"
"Hmmm.."
"Just a black coffee, please." He can put some creamers in if he feels like it.
"You got it, one black coffee it is." Kamira chuckled softly, offering a warm smile as she moved to pour the requested cup of coffee.
He looked like he'd had a bit of a rough day, based on his expression. As a result, she decided to grab one of the chocolate croissants and heating it up before plating it and placing the coffee in the center of the plate beside it.
"One black coffee, and something a little extra on the house, since you're a first-time visitor."
"Welcome to Cantina's Coffee Shop, how may I help you today?"
“No, it’s bad, but I’m. Like. I’m fine. Just give me like, ten minutes.” — from Kaiba
"If you think I'm leaving you alone when you're this upset, then you're an idiot."
Kamira sighed softly as she spoke, shaking her head slightly as she spoke. She wasn't the type to just walk away and leave someone who was seemingly as shaken up as he was at that particular moment.
"I won't ask you to talk to me about it if you don't want to, but having some quiet company might help a little."

[ brush ] sender brushes receiver's hair. — from Kaiba
Kamira hummed softly as Kaiba ran a brush through her hair, sitting patiently in the process. In all honesty, when he'd asked to brush her hair for her, she'd been a little bit surprised. He wasn't typically the touchy-feely type, after all.
"...You know, I never would've thought you'd want to do anything with anyone's hair, let alone mine. Not that I mind, of course." She mused softly, resting her chin upon one of her hands as she spoke.
"I guess you wanted some practice for doing Mokuba's hair, right?"

"Alright, I think I have everything I need...Well... Here goes nothing..."
Kamira took a slight breath to ease the last of her nerves as she walked through the pristine office building known as Kaiba Corp, binder in hand showing all of her credentials and work history. Being a struggling college student without any parents had been a tough journey, but hopefully this job would help to turn things around somewhat. The pay would definitely be enough that she'd be able to pay for her tuition and some modest housing, or at least...She hoped she'd be able to get hired.
Honestly, Kamira had never seen herself as being anyone's secretary, but she supposed such a job was much better than working three jobs day in and day out at convenience stores and coffee shops.
Finally, she reached the office she'd been told the interview would be in, standing tall and confident, but not at all cocky, she raised her hand and calmly knocked on the door. Taking a respectful step back, she waited patiently, hoping that showing up thirty minutes early wouldn't cause the famous Mr. Kaiba any issues.
Interviews. He hated doing them. But he needed that incompetent assistant out of here. After a year he should know how he likes his coffee! Coming down the hall he was told that the person he’d be interviewing was already here, being early leaves a good impression on him. Finally someone who knows what they’re doing.
Coming down from the meeting hall he soon finds himself in front of her. Staring her over she seems familiar. A little too familiar to him. Like someone from the past. Her name on the tip of his tongue before he finally says it.
“Kamira?”
At first, she wasn't quite sure what to think at seeing such a tall, proud man standing before her, though she supposed anyone in such a high position would take pride in their appearance. But the way he was staring at her like that, it gave her a good look at him.
Blue eyes, chestnut brown hair...He looked so familiar, like someone she had once known long ago, but... It couldn't be. Could it...?
Yet when he finally called her by name, everything clicked into place. It took her a moment to process, eyes widening at the realization before she finally spoke.
"Seto? Is that really you...?" The words were a little hesitant, hopefully he wouldn't be too angry with her for calling him by his first name, but that had been the only name she'd known him by for years.
He dismisses the others around him with a flick of his wrist. Once alone he’s silent for a minute before he finally speaks up again.
“It’s been a while. I didn’t think you’d still be around here” he said not knowing she wasn’t adopted unlike him and his brother. Glancing over her resume he sighs, well… might as well give her a chance right? Plus… don’t need to worry about talking to other people.
“You start tomorrow, don’t be late. I’ll text you my coffee order” he says handing her the company card. “You use this for yours and my lunches. And nothing more unless I say so” he says looking her in the eyes.
“Got it?”
"I'll say, it's been years since I saw you last." Kami mused warmly, smiling as she spoke. Though at his comment about her still being around, she offered a quiet shrug and her expression fell for only a split moment.
"Well, what can I say? Not all of us are fortunate enough to leave that place. I got passed around a lot, but nothing ever stuck, I guess. Oh well, it's nice to see an old friend again anyway, and I'll be aging out next month."
She figured she might as well have been honest, after all he probably would have found out either way. Still, she tried her best to have a good attitude regardless of the circumstances.
However, when he presented her with the company card, she promptly shook her head and handed it straight back to him.
"I don't need a card to do that. I worked in the food and beverage industry for the last six years, anything you want to eat or drink, I can make myself. No need to spend money on something I can make with my own hands." She replied, after all she had become quite the impressive cook and knew how to make a damn good coffee too.
"Just text me whatever you want, and I'll make it by hand. Having something like that card in my possession isn't something I'm comfortable doing, and I'd rather not risk the chance of slipping up."
