INTRODUCTION
What is Hip-Hop? To some Hip-Hop is just a genre of music, but its way more than that. Hip-Hop is a culture, a life style, an escape. Hip-Hop first started in the south Bronx in the 1970s. During this time the Bronx looked like a war zone. Buildings looked like they were about to fall apart, most people were living in poverty and crime was very high. So, when Hip-Hop came around it was one of the only positive things going on at this time. When people would listen to this new style and they would feel free and forget about all the negative things that were going on around them. Now you’re are probably wondering who created Hip-Hop. Some people might say that there is only one specific person that created Hip-Hop, but it was a mixture of three iconic people.
There are so many people in the Hip-Hop field. Some who are even part of the LGBTQ community. But what sucks is that a lot of thee people are afraid to come out because of the stigma that Hip-Hop has placed on gays. There is so much the artist would have to deal with. One thing being outing. Outing is defined as “an occasion when it is made public that a famous person is gay when he or she wanted to keep that information private”. Artists would probably tend to out other artists when they feel threatened or just for the very fact that they don’t agree with their way of living.
