KYLE MASON HENDERSON is currently TWENTY-FIVE years old and working as a JOURNALIST at USA TODAY. He lives in the HARBOR POINT side of Frey, where some folks say he looks like ZAC EFRON.
“You fight for your life because the fighter never quits, you make the most of the hand you’re dealt because the quitter never wins.”
When you’re in the show business, your entire life is based upon appearances; most celebrities put on an act and pretend to live the most envious lifestyles, when, in reality, they are very far from perfect. Kyle’s childhood was not very different from that. Son of a famous actress and a critically acclaimed director, the boy always had to play the part of the most joyful child to ever exist, while his mother and father pretended to be exemplar parents. However, little did people know about the atrocities that actually happened in the Henderson household.
Agatha, the mother, was a drug addict and Gerard, the father, an alcoholic. Since his earliest memory, Kyle is unable to recall a day where his mom was not high off of crack and his dad was not wasted. As horrible as that might already seem, his parents’ substance addictions were not Kyle’s biggest problem… When he was three, Kyle used crayons to paint their home’s living room’s walls and for that, he was punished with severe beating; and from that day on, the boy started suffering frequent and intense physical abuse from his problematic parents. The situation got to a point in which hitting the boy became a new addiction to Gerard and Agatha. As much as it pained the boy to stay quiet and pretend everything was all right, there was nothing he could do for–and he had already been warned about that–if he said anything that raised any suspicion over what his parents did to him, he would suffer even more once they got home.
In the midst of this chaotic scenario, it seemed as if things could not get any worse, but they did. When Kyle was eleven, he witnessed the drugs take the best of his mother. After years of abuse, her addiction finally took her life; of course Agatha was far from winning the mother-of-the-year award, but she was still Kyle’s mother, and her loss affected the boy, not only emotionally, but also physically, since his father started to hit him even more after his wife’s death.
It didn’t take long for Kyle to become fed up with his father’s abuse and by the age of thirteen, the boy had grown completely distant from his father. Whenever the two were at home together, Kyle would lock himself up in his room and only get out once his dad left for work. When he went off to college, Kyle decided he would cut all reminiscing ties he still had with his dad, not even allowing the man to pay for his tuition. Of course, Kyle had to find a way to handle the costs his merit scholarship did not cover… At first, the idea of becoming a gigolo sounded like a joke to Kyle, but as time passed and he started to make a reasonable amount of money out of it, the business ended up becoming somewhat like a job to him. It was not the best and definitely not the most dignifying career choice, but he didn’t care, it was enough to get by.
It is expected from a guy who had had such a traumatic childhood and had to sell his body for a living to develop some issues, more specifically, anger issues, and for those, he needed an outlet and that, he found on fighting. With some of his friends, Kyle founded something similar to the Fight Club, where a bunch of guys gathered to work off their anger by fighting each other. Back in his university days, it was not hard to find bruises over his body, but that was not a problem for him, at least he was not going crazy or beating up innocent people, like his parents had done to him for so long.
Time went by and Kyle was hired by CNN as an intern, and eventually he ended up leaving his previous “job”. He started to climb up on his career as a journalist and by the time he finished college, he had became one of the most promising new names in the news industry. Earlier this year, Kyle received a call from USA Today offering him a considerably better salary than the one he was getting on his previous company. Everything comes with a price though; the job he was being offered was in Maine, which meant he would have to leave his friends, his home, and most importantly… his club. That was probably the hardest decision he ever had to take, but he decided to take the job. When he moved to Maine, he figured it would be best to move to a small town, instead of a big city. As much as he felt more comfortable on the latter, he figured the former would be the best place tostart over, so he chose Frey, a place that didn’t seem too quiet, but was not overflowing with people. Of course, taking a daily trip to the USA Today offices is somewhat tiring, but he seems to be getting used to this new life of his. There is just one thing that he still misses and hopes to find again… his club.
