Sebastian put the bag on the floor by the foot of the bed. “Yeah, she probably would. But don’t worry, we have a strict no witches or wizards policy.”
“Well I stayed in a motel for a few weeks while I was looking for a place, so.”
“How far away was that? I thought I was the only place in town.”
I could always use an ego stroke.
“Your ego is plenty big on its own, Aiden.”
“Alright, fine. Just make sure I look good when they find me.”
"I’m pretty sure you always look good, so I don’t think it’ll be a problem.”
“Oh sweet.” She followed him, looking around her surroundings, seeing the other door– “What’s in there? The Chamber of Secrets?”Â
“That’s exactly right,” he told her with a laugh, using his master key card to swipe into her room. “Where do you want this to be put?”
Charlie smiled just the slightest. “It’s okay, eh, so how is.. everything with you?“
“Oh, it’s mostly been good. Just working, really.”
“Oh, right. I’ve heard about that place but I’ve never actually been there. I’ve only been here a few months and just sorta dived head first into work.”
“Well, it’s just a hotel. I’d be surprised if you lived here and had been, if it wasn’t your first stop. There are a few people that stayed there while finding an apartment, but it’s not really a locals spot.”
“And I have no idea what that is, so, you’ll have to elaborate.”
“The Frey Inn. I own it,” he said with a small shrug.
Now I’m interested.
“It’ll probably just get the same exasperated ego trip me hitting on you at lacrosse camp got.”
“Thank you! I’m really excited, and so is my husband.”
“That’s wonderful. Do you know about when you’re due?”
“I would appreciate that so much. I want this to be a success.”
“Yeah, absolutely. The Inn is right down the street, I have a business card at the front desk,” he told her. “We could walk down there and get it for you now.”
She smiled at him as they exited the elevator– she was more than thankful that she didn’t have to make this trip a hundred times. Maybe two more, but not a billion. “What room is it again?”Â
"501,” he said, going towards the door to the left. The other door was marked as 502, but had a normal keyhole, being Sebastian’s current home. Eventually he planned on not living at the Inn, but for now, it was better to stay there.
“Try…trees. They take care of themselves. Palm trees in front of the inn that will take like…ten years to grow. Hope you’re not moving any time soon.”
“You don’t think palm trees would look out of place in Frey?” he asked with a laugh.
“I don’t know whether I should be flattered that I’m your star victim or worried,” she squinted over at him.
“I think maybe some of both would be most appropriate.”
“Oh I’m in agreement with that one, believe me.”
Sebastian reached over and squeezed Charlie’s arm lightly before dropping his hand again. “I’m sorry you had to experience that.”
“Judging books by their covers and all that shit,” he hummed as his snake was returned to him, turning around for the moment to put them back in the enclosure. “I’ve had these guys for a little over a year now, can’t imagine my life without them.”
Sebastian gave a small smile that looked slightly sad. “The only thing I’ve had in my life for over a year now is the Inn,” he said with a shrug.
“They’re an acquired taste, sure,” Gage chuckled. “But I’d rather you hold them and then decide you hate it then just straight up say no, you know?” Gage held out his hand in case the other man wanted to give the snake back.
"That’s fair enough, I suppose,” he said, holding his hand towards the other’s. He watched, half-fascinated and still half-horrified as it slithered back onto its owner. “How long have you had snakes?”
