Perseid Meteor Shower.
Rented a scooter and headed for the hills outside of Chiang Mai looking for hills tribes. The village below in this photograph was so overrun with tourists I didn't even bother to stop. Sure, there were Thai in traditional dress, but it was the furthest thing from authentic.

1973. My great uncle carved pieces of wood and made 3D paintings. His painting of President Washington is one of my favorites.
Lumpkin Fire in Northern California. Taken on September 11th, 2015. As of today, it’s 90% contained and over 1000 acres. The Lumpkin fire is small compared to a few other fires burning in Northern California.
This throwback Thursday takes us to the Yakima River while I rode the Sierra Cascade cycling route. It was hot the day before pedaling into Ellensburg so I decided to get up super early to beat the heat riding to Rimrock Lake. I was rewarded with beautiful morning light.
Headed out on my motorcycle to Gold Lake in the Bucks Lake Wilderness. I've been to Gold Lake before backpacking, but thought it would be fun to visit that special spot again. It's not a huge lake, but has a lot of character. Plus, from the Silver Lake entrance it's only a short hike (maybe 2.5 miles).
Photograph from my hike to Gold Lake in the Bucks Lake Wilderness. I noticed this little tree while saying hello to a couple enjoying lunch. They were using the massive chunk of granite the tree was growing out of as a wind block. I left them to their lunch and explored around the lake before heading back to get a photograph of the tree. I have big hopes for this little tree. A natural bonsai. I plan on visiting this little tree again to see if it'll grow into a massive tree.
