Kymera was one of the few people she couldn’t sneak up on; her footfalls silent as they were, could not make up for the stench of death, for the aura of wrongness that pervaded her.
Her intention wasn’t to surprise her. Her very presence would do that well enough on its own. No, this was a confrontation, the betrayed and the betrayer.
"Kymera, We need to speak. Now.”
She sensed it almost immediately. There was something foul in the air, some dreadful feeling clawing at her soul. Her panther began to bear its teeth, as if sensing the presence as well or its master's distress. Only when the woman she thought dead revealed itself did Kymera speak. This should have been impossible, and yet here she was, here t h e y were... Her leader was alive and in front of her.
"... Wolverine? Is that r e a l l y you?"
IT SHOULD’VE BEEN ME.
It’s Ororo. Of course you don’t have to call me your mother, but you don’t have to be so formal.
X-Men: Battle Of The Atom #2
“Of course. He’s inside with Jubilation. I’m sure they would be happy to see you again.”
”Thanks."
She walked past her mother, her panther trailing behind. Kymera wasn't sure entirely of what to say, so she preferred to avoid saying anything if she could h e l p it...
I am not violent. I am not malicious. I am a result.
Death, The Book Thief
Kymera, daughter of Ororo Munroe, former member of the Future X-Men
”Kymera, it’s really wonderful to see you again. How have you been?”
"I'm fine. I just came to check up on Shogo—"
Don’t be deceived by my appearance I’m S T R O N G E R than you think
[Her jaw tightens. But powerful hands suddenly feel weak and drop to her sides. This wasn’t easy for anyone, and her future self’s death hung uncomfortably in the air, neither speaking a word of it.] Jus’ assure me this… tell me, tell me I’m not the monster everyone else here sees her as.
... Is that what you think? Is that what everyone thinks?
[That she was a monster? That she would become one? A deep frown tugged at her lips, disappointment more than evident on her face.]
That woman you all feared so much was the closest thing I had to a mother.
Don't misunderstand. I love my mom. But we were never truly that close...
"A really strong woman accepts the war she went through and is ennobled by her scars." - Carly Simon
"Mother... I see you are well."
