Things began to shift considerably. In all honesty, Kyoran didn’t anticipate Astarion falling for her. But, the night he pulled her aside to confess what had been going on in his head, she began to let her own walls down. Now, anytime she recalls the conversation, Kyoran’s chest aches at the memory of his voice. She won’t soon forget how his words shook as each syllable left his lips. He’d been nervous, scared even, and she couldn’t have imagined anything like that to transpire between them. She thought their late night rendezvous were nothing more than a little fun. In fact, she believed Astarion never wanted to fall for her. So, she had kept her feelings close to her chest. When it happened, it took her by surprise. She’d never entertained the idea of asking Astarion for more. Kyoran had been in that position before and hadn’t intended to try and relive the events she’d experienced once before.

Kyoran wasn’t quite sure when it came to this. Had he leaned into it slowly? Or did he tumble and fall all at once? However, when Astarion confessed to her the truth behind his advancements, Kyoran couldn’t say she was entirely surprised. She knew what they had been: pretty lies under moonlit skies. It wasn’t the first time she’d experienced it. But, the pain in his voice spoke a truth Kyoran never imagined she’d hear and especially not from him.

“Little star,” Kyoran let the words roll softly over her tongue. “A sweet name.” “One my mother gave me.” Astarion softly smiled as he looked to the sky. “I was her little light.” “You never received an adult name…” Kyoran whispered into the night and looked over to see Astarion still staring up at the stars. “Another thing Cazador took from me.” He bit, though his words didn’t hold the same malice they once did. “No matter,” he turned over to softly hold her in his gaze, “The time has long passed for that.” Kyoran ran a hand through his curled locks, tucking a tuft behind his ear. “Did you ever want an adult name?” “At one point.” He nuzzled into her palm. “But I’ve grown to love hearing the sound of it fall from your lips, my dear.” He turned his head, pressing a chaste kiss gently into her palm. “For I’ve found that a little star will always look to its moon.” And as Astarion pulled away, crimson eyes flicked to hers. They were filled with love and admiration before Astarion leaned in to kiss Kyoran with a tenderness he rarely gave.
