To be compared to Kyou’s mother is something big, probably. It at least tells Hugh something. Like perhaps he is important to him? Hopefully. They have been good friends for a long time.

At the other’s words, Hugh pauses too. His cheeks warm up as the brunet continues. Things are boring when he himself isn’t around? For some reason it makes him a little happy. An idiotic feeling of happiness. This is typical Romeo behaviour…

"I…" He looks to the side while he thinks about it. "Maybe I’ll come by later this week but I’ve been… busy. Looking for a new apartment, I mean." And that’s when Hugh gets an idea. Maybe—

"Do you…" Prays the other will say yes. "Maybe you want to come with me to search for a new apartment?"

[kyouhoe]

"Yeah--!!"

Kyouhei's pitch alleviates when Hugh reveals that he might visit again and as though his body needs expression, he throws himself onto the bed, just missing squishing Marbles by a few centimeters. The chick promptly squeaks and meanders onto the owner's back, instead. Perhaps not the safest option for an active child like him.

-- Oh, but looking for an apartment?

"Uh-huh!!" His legs wiggle in anticipation. So, it turns out that this will be a business meeting of some sort, but hey, that's kind of good! It shows that Hugh is looking for his help! Naturally, given that Kyouhei rarely gets to input himself into the other's needs, he'd take that offer up in a heartbeat.

"But- but-- aren't they gonna rebuild it? Why'dya have to buy a whole new apartment? Are they letting you move in for free 'cause of the damages to the old one?"

Moshi Moshi Kyou-kun }} Hugh&Kyouhei

"Is that so…?" He calms down a little as he rests the phone against his ear. Hugh isn’t doing much beside that, he felt like he wants to calm his nerves down first. He manages so and so. "Maybe she just has good intuition."

His eyes shifted left and right before he answers. “Yeah, it was. You didn’t know?” Figured. Kyouhei isn’t really the person to know much about Hugh in the first place. Did he expect too much…? No, he didn’t.

But why does he feel a little… down about it?

"Eeh? I never thought about it -- it's like how Polly can tell when my mom is going to visit." 

"Nope, you never said." The chick starts to bounce around the bed and Kyouhei decides to play with his hair instead, sitting on his backside and watching the phone, even though there's nothing to look at as opposed to hearing him.

"Ne; when are you coming around again? It's--" He pauses, looking for the word, "-- boring without you."

Moshi Moshi Kyou-kun }} Hugh&Kyouhei

That was one thing he didn’t expect. A voice called back to him rather quickly, as if no time passed at all between the moment Hugh dialled the other’s number and Kyou answered. It was surprising.

"K-Kyou…" Now he actually was embarrassed. The other sounds so honestly concerned and worried. Was it Hugh’s fault? Maybe. Perhaps the brunet heard after all.

"No, I’m fine… My apartment burned down though, but I’m not wounded. Don’t worry. Really."

[kyouhoe]

"Phew!" He exhales in relief, sitting upright on his knees and switching the phone to loudspeaker. "Marbles was all fluffy today, and she only gets fluffy when you do something. Like, get angry, stuuuff like that -- and you get in a lot of fights lately!"

The little chick chirps in the background as Kyouhei lifts her into his hands.

"--- Eh? Your apartment burned down?" He curls on his lap to lean into the phone, "Wait, does that mean that the giant bonfire a few weeks ago was actually your apartment?!"

Moshi Moshi Kyou-kun }} Hugh&Kyouhei

Worried about Kyou. He was worried about what Kyou was doing this very moment. Hugh always was worried about Kyouhei.

He took out his phone while thinking about it. Was Kyouhei doing well? Maybe he heard about the recent fire in Cosmos Apartment? He should let him at least know how he is doing and that he is absolutely fine. Perhaps Kyou was worried about him. That would be nice.

So he dialed Kyouhei’s number.

It never was any different.

The Darth Vader tune rings through his household and, aware of who the customized ringtone belongs to, the brunet dives for his phone over the bed and attacks it with his fingers to answer.

"Hugh?!" The urgency in Kyouhei's voice is unnatural, like it doesn't suit his tenor at all, but maybe that's just because he isn't the type to sound... concerned over Hugh? No, it's usually the other way around.

"Are you okay? Did you get hurt? You didn't die, right?"

"... Whoa, bonfire...!"

"Tonight was a lot of fun. I haven't danced so much in forever!"

Natural Times || Kyouhei

It was a long day for Touya, considering with the fact his father had moved into his apartment and the fact he was running away from his father for a good hour of the day. He let out a small sigh as he stepped into his apartment and found that his father’s shoes weren’t in the door way. Thank god, he wasn’t home for once. Dragging his body towards his room, the door clicked open and the sight of a… large… python sitting on his bed-

Screeccch 

Wait what.

His mind comes to a complete stop, a feat that deserves applause as Touya stared at the python’s eyes staring up at him. He recognizes the pattern from his days back in his old high school, and particularly a certain ‘kouhai’ who enjoyed raising particular animals such as this certain python. 

He steps closer to the bed and he raises a hand just as he used to, and just as Touya remembers the familiar nuzzling against his hand. He lets out a small smile.

"It’s been a while Snivy."

Touya glances up though, almost realizing if the python was here.. then wouldn’t it mean Kyouhei was here? He glances around his room only to notice a familiar head of brown hair sticking out of his closet. Touya resists the urge to laugh lightly as he sits on the bed, petting the python as the boy speaks up,

"Ahhh, if you’re here then where’s Kyouhei? I miss him a lot."

He wasn’t going to ruin his kouhai’s fun for today at least, he did miss the boy though.

When he found out he'd be rooming with the man of his middle school years, Kyouhei's excitement could not quite be measured. Moving out had been a tough decision, despite being the best thing for his parents given his many little fuzzy friends, or scaled, but having it revealed that his senpai was one of the four living with him, ooh, he was ecstatic! Neighbours wailed in complaint as the young brunet danced the night of the announcement, which is to prove that this kid really, really loves his senpai.

But years had passed, and the unfamiliarity left the pet enthusiast with his nerves on the edge, unsure of how to approach this whole situation. At first, he'd decided on welcoming him with a large party, but then it just so happened to hit him that he was  moving in, not the other way around. Secondly, he'd considered throwing himself on top of the older man with an excitement so wild that newborn puppies would feel a rivalry spark, but in the end, he got jittery at the thought and started hiccuping excessively, so he gave up on that too.

And the final suggestion was not thought up by himself, but by Captain Green who had scaled the seven beds. Quite literally.

So there lay the large mammal, rolling around the bed happily and there sat Kyouhei, in the closet, listening to the fond voice of Touya welcoming the affectionate beast.

Exactly what had brought this position upon them? Well, he'd... sort of... maybe... kinda... let himself into senpai's room, marveled a little like the dorky kid he was, and then found out the python had slithered his way in too, making a little nest of his own body on senpai's bed which senpai slept in and that senpai would notice if there was a big dent in the middle and thatsenpaiwasdefinitely-- COMING IN THE ROOM.

Kyouhei fled, to say the very least. And that's how he ended up in the closet.

Which he plans to stay in. Not having fun at all.

"Karry's pregnant again! There shall be puppies!" 

[hughlet]

"Do you even know how to disinfect wounds, dummy?” Hugh didn’t really care much about his own wounds. It wasn’t a big deal, after all. Kyouhei was the one who usually cried and whined, but not he. He was thankful though, his lips curved into a small smile. To have the other touch him in a gentle way like that…

"My place?" A small pause, he was jumping ahead too much again. "I mean.. do you want to come with me to my place then? I have a first aid kit there."

[kyouhoe]

"Th-.. that's... of course I do!" He blurts, stomping his foot in time with his outburst. "I've watched you do it a lot, so I picked it up sooner or later." A puff of denial. Nevertheless, he flushes in embarrassment and folds his arms, pouting lightly, although Hugh's fond little grin dims his irritation some way other another. 

"Yup!" All that huffy attitude goes straight out the window in two seconds flat at the recommendation. "I'll show you how good of a nurse I can be, then! You'll never have to go to the hospital again." There's a proud grin. "I dunno about jail, though."

Did Hugh hear that right? ‘I can’t imagine what you’re like in bed’? God. Okay, that was enough. The blue haired boy was out of here. He didn’t really feel like being involved with two men who had eye sex most of the time anyway. Not to mention: why was Hugh exactly fighting? He forgot by now. Well, time to retreat.

As he was finally let go, he walked back to Kyouhei. He was bruised and wounded, and maybe bleeding a little as well, but the fight was finally over. Thank God. Hugh was too tired to fight more, to be honest.

"Kyou…"

"Hugh..."

Kyouhei huffs at the state his best friend is in. Hugh was the type to get into fights no matter what he did, so he'd let him wander off to fight others since... well, he'd probably just get mad if he interfered. Or uh, madder. Either way, he certainly didn't expect him to come back battered and bruised -- usually he would return with just a little scratch or two, just who had he picked a fight with after the ginger?

"You're so dumb." Snort. "I get to disinfect your wounds this time."

The rain starts to fall, drop by drop falling over his face and hands and the world around them. Before he can say something, Touya is blurting goodbyes before rushing away, leaving him with Kyouhei.

Well, then.

Taking off his jacket, he places it over Kyouhei’s head - the balloons hanging from his backpack were catching the droplets, forming a stream of water almost directly over his head, so Kyouhei needed the cover more than he did right now - and starts to tug him towards somewhere they could find cover.

"Come on, Kyou. Let’s find a place to stay."

He can call the car once they do to take them back home, but standing around in the rain is never a really good idea, and Touya has already vanished, so it’s better to make sure that at least him and Kyou aren’t as soaked as they could be and don’t end up sick.

Senpai's disappearance happened too fast for him. The rain itself seemed to drip a lot harder than one would expect, the evolution from a drizzle to a pour being far quicker than he'd seen before. The whole mood had changed from a light hearted one to a questionable atmosphere, like pathetic fallacy had laid down a depressing blanket atop their dumb little conversation.

Above all, Touya running off left his kouhai feeling somewhat dejected. It even took him a few more seconds of standing there to register Calem's kindness, reaching up to lightly pull the jacket over his head a bit more. If the rain had hit his hair too hard, no doubt it would become an afro in half an hour or so, and his brother figure probably knew that, but even so, pulling him away, his mind still flickered back to wondering where the other brunet had ran off too. Or the reason why he'd left on his own.

"Nii-san..." He tries, averting his eyes over his shoulder as he follows Calem to wherever he'd like, probably out of the rain. "Will senpai be okay? He suddenly looked sad..."

To put it simply, he'd just never seen Touya react like that, before.

"Gooooooooooo Huuuuugh!! Kick his butt, Ham Omlette!"

Little brother? Touya raises an eyebrow at that tidbit. Now he didn’t hear about this. He looks at the balloon Calem has in hand, but his attention is turned to Kyouhei who seems energetic as ever. He has a small smile on his face before directing his focus on Calem. Now Touya wondered when was this sudden sibling appearing out of no where, never in the years he’d known Kyouhei did he not know?

Then again, he did had some fault of hiding his own family issue of working part time to support the small family of two so perhaps this was fair.

"It’s a pleasure to meet you." 

He chuckles lightly at Kyouhei’s hiccup. “Hold your breath until your hiccups are gone Kyouhei.” It was a proven remedy he did as a kid: too much pepsi did that to you really. He looks over to Calem shaking his head, “No.. I just enjoy learning several things. I’m just the only one who he’s ever talked to that’s older than him in school. It’s not really about being cool or knowing a lot.”

"It’s a pleasure to meet you too, Touya~" Calem mumurs lightly, somewhat amused at the other’s apparent surprise, but turns his attention back to Kyouhei as the younger boy thanks him enthusiastically, giving him a bright smile.

"Glad to be of service, little bro. If you need to fill any of them, just let me know and I’ll take care of it. Ah-… if you want more balloons, too, you can just ask. There are a few more colors you don’t have yet, I think." Or at least, he can get more colors. It’s just good to see Kyouhei this happy. What’s getting some balloons if it makes him so excited?

Right, Touya.

Calem leans back on his heels, looking back at Touya and giving him a small nod. “Ah, I see. Well, Kyouhei thinks you’re cool and knows a lot, so I’m inclined to believe him. I guess you’ll have to prove us wrong if you’re so sure of that.”

Confused at their... confusion for each other, moreso on Touya's behalf, Kyouhei's gaze flickers between them, his attention often stolen by the yelling in the background, but as his senpai speaks up again and warns him of his hiccups -- hic -- he stares at him again. Holding his breath isn't exactly something he can do when he talks more than he stays silent, but if the older man really insists on it, he can abide by it.

1, 2, 3 ...

Seconds pass with Kyouhei holding his breath diligently, folding his arms to push against his chest and stiffen his lungs. Alas, the bursts of air beat him and he simply exhales with a defeating 'hauck', his expression surprised. "Um." That didn't go so well. He holds his balloon tighter for moral support, then peers between them once more.

"Nii-san is right-- OH." Complimentary pause. "He's not my actual brother, senpai! I met him uuh.. uh, sometime ago, and he spoils me a lot so..."

Big brothers spoil little brothers... that's how the system goes. Either that, or they pick on them, and Kyouhei is blessed with a sibling that only provides one half of the equation. After having that sorted, he goes back to holding his breath, sucking in a gulp of oxygen before becoming a statue. For those ten seconds of silence, the resemblance to a puffball fish is uncanny.

"It will, but hold on your way of tying it going to make the strings come loose-" He loses his place in his sentence as Kyouhei clings on to him. Perhaps did the other thing he was going to end up flying? He chuckles lightly as he pats Kyouhei’s head.

"You’re not going fly off into the air. Here." He pulls away from Kyouhey to grab all of the balloons strings together and coiling up the strings, making a know with it. Then he tries up once more on Nate’s bag, making a secure knot. Reading random books sure came in handy some times..

"There we go. It won’t go anywhere now. So you can run around with the balloons if you want."

Somewhat amused, Calem watches as Touya speaks to his little brother, a hand in his pocket and the other holding the formerly-almost empty balloon. Of course, there’s always that hint of concern in the back of his head - what if Kyouhei was getting himself in trouble? - but for now, everything seems alright, so he steps forward.

"Ah, so you’ve met my little brother, then." He comments to Touya before turning to Kyou with a small smile, holding the balloon out for him. "Here you go, Kyou. Your balloon is safe and as good as new~"

There’s a little bit of pride of being able to save the day for his little brother. It’s always fun to help people, and when said people is Kyouhei, it’s just that much better.

As per usual, his senpai knew a lot more about this than he did. He watches curiously as his hangs work with the string, brows raised in perplexity, and as soon as he starts tying them back onto his bag, his hand latches onto Touya's jacket, just in case he did float. However, as he's finished and he pulls away, Kyouhei gives a little squeak in anticipation. Sure, flying would be pretty neat, but he doesn't want to leave the party so soon...

Fortunately, he won't be airborne for a while.

And to top it all off, Calem has returned with his little buddy, all fixed and ready to float proudly again. A bright smile stretches on his features and he beams, explaining for both of them whilst bouncing forward to take the balloon from Calem.

"Thanks, nii-san!!" He barks happily, lowering his head in appreciation before gesturing to Touya. "This is my senpai! We've known each other since middle school, he's suuuper --" Hiccup. "--cool and knows a lot of things."

"Kyou, I did it." He’s panting by now, Hugh must be tired.

"I avenged you and your balloon."

"Hugh... why do you look like you're developing a black eye?"

Oh you… Touya smiled lightly at the group of balloons Kyouhei has in hand.”Yeah, I see it. It’s nice of him then to give you all of those balloons.” He really can’t blame Kyouhei as he is, its nice really to have that innocence of Kyouhei’s around. “Be careful not to lose it: tie those balloon strings to your bag okay?”

"Huh? Will that work?"

Alas, he does have trust in Touya and although skeptical, he pulls his bag against his stomach, beginning to tie the strings of the balloons in groups of five on the left and right straps. Afterwards, he makes a quick jolt to cling to the smaller person, glancing up at the sky. Calem seems to be asking him about going to fix his little balloon, but so far, he's preoccupied with this dilemma. 

He's seen 'Up', senpai, he's not so sure about this.

"That’s Hugh. He’s nice."

"Yeah, I can tell…" A silence lapses, filled only by Yata’s cussing and Hugh’s recital of Shakespeare or whatever the hell it was.

"Nice to meet you, even though this probably isn’t the best way to meet. Ah, will you excuse me for a moment?" Offers a wry smile. After brushing himself down, he’s approaching the fight. Here we go.

"I think it's fine... everyone's expressing themselves." In the nicest of ways, of course... but eeh, he can deal. This is something that he is used to around Hugh, you see.

"Okay! Don't die!" 

Mentally waves a little Atsuro Kihara flag.
