I miss real libraries. Even the card catalogue. The Dewey Decimal System. Showing this to Ate Kyss <3
I may have given you my giant heart and sensitive soul, but I am giving you my strength too, so that even on the darkest nights, you will know you can get through anything life may toss your way. And I will always be there, too.
You are my little warrior princess, my fairy, and most of all, my heart.
This father is helping his daughter deal with her anger
What I want you to know babes.. it’s ok to go through feelings :) I love you.
Goodnight from the 3 kulits :) see you in dream land! (at Samal Island, Davao City Philippines)

Sixteen Small Steps to Happiness
1. push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. go to the nearest hill with a big coat and a scarf and watch the sun rise.
2. push yourself to fall asleep earlier - start with 11pm, then 10pm, then 9pm. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable.
3. erase processed food from your diet. start with no lollies, chips, biscuits, then erase pasta, rice, cereal, then bread. use the rule that if a child couldn’t identify what was in it, you don’t eat it.
4. get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and squirt way too much lemon on it. sit and eat it and do nothing else.
5. stretch. start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. roll your head. stretch your fingers. stretch everything.
6. buy a 1L water bottle. start with pushing yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice.
7. buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. no detail is too small.
8. strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear draw into the washing machine. put a massive scoop of scented fabric softener in there and wash. make your bed in full.
9. organise your room. fold all your clothes (and bag what you don’t want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor. light a beautiful candle.
10. have a luxurious shower with your favourite music playing. wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. lather your whole body in moisturiser, get familiar with the part between your toes, your inner thighs, the back of your neck.
11. push yourself to go for a walk. take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. bring your dog and observe the dog’s behaviour. realise you can learn from your dog.
12. message old friends with personal jokes. reminisce. suggest a catch up soon, even if you don’t follow through. push yourself to follow through.
14. think long and hard about what interests you. crime? sex? boarding school? long-forgotten romance etiquette? find a book about it and read it. there is a book about literally everything.
15. become the person you would ideally fall in love with. let cars merge into your lane when driving. pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. stick your tongue out at babies. compliment people on their cute clothes. challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for a whole day. then two. then a week. walk with a straight posture. look people in the eye. ask people about their story. talk to acquaintances so they become friends.
16. lie in the sunshine. daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasn’t a thing. open your eyes. take small steps to make it happen for you.
I hope and pray to God that this day.. the day you read this.. would bring you such happiness in your heart and that you too will inspire others.
Quick centering exercise
1. List five things you are grateful for right this second. Maybe it’s ‘my good health’ or ‘my warm bed’ or ‘my fun workmates’ or ‘my new jacket’.
2. List four things you’d like to achieve today. Maybe it’s just ‘take a shower’ or ‘go for a walk’, or maybe it’s ‘follow up a resume’ or ‘talk to my friend about my issue with them’.
3. List three things that you’re worrying about right now, and in a few words why you’re worrying about each. Be completely honest with yourself.
4. List two people who genuinely lift you up and make you feel supported, hopeful and happy.
5. Write this down - “I am a person with all of the colours within me. I’m capable of many different lives, and I get to decide which one I live.”
6. List two things you do that you’d like to do less in life. Maybe it’s ‘do less late night shifts’, or ‘ stop hanging out with that person who brings me down’ or ‘argue less with my sibling’.
7. List three things you do that bring you genuine self-esteem. Maybe it’s ‘working out’, ‘playing a computer game’ or ‘finishing a book’ or ‘making a good coffee’.
8. List four things would like to improve upon. Maybe you’d like to be more organised, maybe you’d like to get up at the same time each morning, maybe you’d like to listen more and talk less.
9. List five things you genuinely love about yourself. Maybe you’d do anything for your mother, maybe you are really good at helping a friend in a crisis, maybe you’re a very loyal employee, maybe you love your handwriting, maybe you like the scar on your leg.
10. Lastly, write this down - “I am powerful. I am strong. I am full of all things - love, sadness, light, anger, fever. I deserve happiness and only I can create it.”
I’m going to do this one now Babe.. when you get to read this, do it too! ..how did you feel afterwards?

Well mummy has never really been into expensive brands and most of those she mentioned were Greek to me..but hey, you get the idea! Hmm, I had to give up lots of food and travel but as long as I'm with you, it doesn't really matter! "Some people are harsh, though, especially those who talk behind my back, sometimes to my face, about how much I have changed. I have piled on 40 pounds or more. I'm now a size 16 from a size 2—that makes me an XL from an XS before. I may look a lot different now, but deep inside I have kept a loving heart that truly cares for her child. Nothing can ever change that."
Mummy's Childhood
I grew up in the streets of San Mateo, Rizal where home is and Marikina City where my school is located and where most of my friends lived. This was during a time when everyone treated each other like family, everyone's mom was called tita even if they were no relation 👫 We went outside to play in the streets, we got dirty till the sun goes down... We didn't eat fast food🍟🍔... We ate freshly home made food 🍛 We got ice cream from ice cream man that rings the bell 🕭when passing each street, otherwise a home made ice candy from the freezer. We played tumbang preso, moro moro 🏸, sipa👣, syato💃, 🌳, basketball🏀 , patintero🏃luksong baka, jolen, text, tansan, kaha. There was no bottled water🍶, we drank water from the tap or poso 🚰 if we had a drink we would share the same bottle of pop...after giving it a wipe with our mucky sleeves, We had no kids tv channels 📺 rode our bikes 🚲 for hours 🕰 There was no such thing as a mobile phone or any other electronic device 📵. We frolicked in the streets during thunderstorms or flooding. I probably drank a batya-full or more of floodwater. We weren't AFRAID OF ANYTHING. If someone had a fight, that's what it was...a fist fight👊. Kids didn't have guns🔫 or knives🔪.The street lights 💡were your curfew or until your mom shouted out the window. School was mandatory, but you'd still wag a couple of lessons every now and then ✏️📒. We watched our mouths around our elders👴🏼👵🏼 because we knew we'd get a crack, belt or some shoe, slipper 👞👠... Proud 👉😁 that I came from a close knit community 👭👬👫and will never forget where I came from! .💓💓💓😂😆
Singing Mummy
For some reason, the little big girl asked mummy to sing her to sleep. I’m flattered, really! I have a horrible singing voice and everybody knows it but she “bravely” listened to me sing the whole time!
..Or maybe she was trying NOT to sleep that’s why she asked me to sing?
Dear future child, If it’s 3am and you find yourself in a world of complete despair Please do not turn to strangers on the internet for solace as I did Please climb onto my bed And I will hold you until the demons sleep If it is Thursday morning and you are too sad to move I won’t force you I will buy ice cream and we will watch your favourite tv show and I will remind you of your importance If you feel as if you have no purpose I will remind you that you were created entirely with love and every pain you feel, I feel too When you’re sure you can’t go on anymore I will tell you that when I was 21 I searched for peace at the bottom of a vodka bottle chased by a bottle of pain killers But that five years later When you were placed in my arms in the delivery room I realised that you were why I had been holding on Without realising it, you saved me, do you know how amazing that is? So if you ever feel like grabbing that vodka bottle, put it down, we will get in the car and I will drive until the sky turns magenta I will show you how the sun rises every morning to encourage you to rise too Sweetheart I refuse to be unaware of your sufferings As my mother was to mine.

‘Girls like you’ your mother says ‘are going to be disappointed a lot.’ She’s chopping coriander so fast that her hand is a blur and you’re 12 and you’re standing like a tremble, grubby knees and tear stained cheeks, an offering in front of her ‘Why?’ Your voice is a quiet shake. She puts the knife down and calls you ‘jaan’ she holds your face in her wet hands, you don’t flinch because this is what love looks like she kisses your forehead like forgiveness ‘because you mean what you say, you think other people are the same.’ She tells you that she spent four years trying to learn their language but people ask how you are and walk away before you can tell them. ‘I’d rather be silent.’ She says. ‘At least being quiet is honest.’ You’ll come home seven years later wearing your heart like a bruise on the inside of your sleeve ‘mama,’ you’ll say, voice like a thunder crack ‘he said he loved me, and I believed him, I shouldn’t have, I think that he lied.’ She’ll be older then, but she’ll kiss you just as tender, just as birdlike. ‘Is it my fault?’ You’ll ask. She is half lioness, half woman. She is all roar. ‘Listen to me’ she calls you her soul again. She says it in your language so you know that she means it. ‘You are so infinitely tender,’ she takes the frown of your face in her hands and holds it carefully ‘People will not always know what to do with that. You can’t ever be sorry for the way you loved, You can’t be sorry for who you loved. Don’t ever let them bend you backwards don’t let them make you hard or bitter.’ Her voice turns into a growl 'You did not get this from me. Somewhere inside of you there is rain. Somewhere in your stomach, something beautiful is growing and it is infinite. Don’t you let them try and take that from you, you are open and you are a flood, someday someone is going to want to die in you.’
