Suspicious. This lady was definitely suspicious.
It was hard for him not to be suspicious of someone that clearly looked just like an oni. The horns made it obvious– and even if she weren’t some kind of oni, she felt like trouble. Call it his instincts as a demon slayer. Not to mention, she looked physically dangerous, too…
Er, for one reason or another, anyways.
Running around this God-forsaken floating city was a pain, so a short rest wouldn’t hurt. A break from running and fighting would do him good, anyways. So, against his better judgement, Kintoki took a glance left and right– before sneaking into the demon’s refuge without a word.
It was only after he stepped in that he began to speak.
“Nice hiding spot,” the man muttered, pressing up against a wall slightly besides the other– but not too close. “Phew… heh, hard to catch a break in a place like this…”
“… Oi. No offense, but you uh, some kinda oni or somethin’?”
It’d best if he were blunt.
“With the horns and all, I figured you looked one. No offense and all, ‘course… but no funny business, alright lady? Things’re bad enough as is.”
She had to admit, as far as (seemingly) humans went, the one she’d come across seemed like.. well, powerful. Given the circumstances, she’d have to call that a win, for the moment. As the man slipped into the nook alongside her, she stepped aside, silently appraising his appearance while he did the same to their immediate surroundings.
There would be no stopping her amused chuckle at his question, though. So the people of this world were at least somewhat familiar with her kind... interesting.
“Well. I suppose there’s hope for you humans yet, if you can discern that much.”
She had no intention of hiding the fact, even if it was evident this man might not hold demons in high regard. Turning slightly to better face him, she held out her arms, as though to make it more obvious she was unarmed.
“As much as I’m sure you suspect someone like myself to be plotting your downfall, I believe we’ve found ourselves in the same predicament.” Satisfied, she folded her arms once more, in favor of glancing back into the open street nearby. “So long as we are trapped in this fortress of a city, the only kind of business I have is leaving it whole. Will that suffice?”
