Thoughts — KHIV: Possible Memory Loss? I was thinking about Kingdom Hearts IV recently and something crossed my mind — what if Sora lost his memories? And he doesn’t know who he is? And when he finally meets Riku, he doesn’t recognize him but there’s something in his heart telling him he knows Riku. But given what may have happened in the story up till that point, he doesn’t trust Riku for some reason. There would likely be a fight after this.
This scenario would be similar to what happened in KH:COM only this time he’ll actually be fighting Riku for real. To make things better (or worse — for Sora anyway), his memory loss would be permanent. Sora was banished from his own universe so having his identity and memories erased would make sense. This most likely won’t happen but it’d be interesting if it does.
Just remembered this post. Still hope this happens. It would be intetesting.
2027 is going to be both the best and worst year of gaming simultaneously. Great games as the industry rapidly implodes.
Tai Yasue and Nomura saw all those KH4 2029-2030 memes online and had enough of y'all shit. "It's coming out in 2027, damn it!"
Sigurd strikes me as one of those characters in Battle Shounen anime/manga that talks a lot of shit like they really like that, only to later get bodied spectacularly lol.
The Versus XIII/FFXV ships in the sky though. I see subtly has been thrown out the window lmao!
Kingdom Hearts 4 | D23 Thoughts 1 - I'm curious about the Luxu and YXehanort interaction. - Riku being there isn't shocking to me. It'd been more surprising if he hadn't shown up. - Another thing, that was Vali in the Nintendo Direct trailer. So, some of the KHDR characters may show up. - Speaking of that, that means Vor could be there. She'd better be! I wanna see her falcon punch a Neo Darkside. - Also I peeped the Back Cover shot with the The Master of Masters standing at the cliff overlooking Daybreak. - The Mickey gameplay looks fun. Much better than what we got before. Also, Donald and Goofy playable???? Now I get the privilege to not heal anybody as Donald!? Say less.
So many playable characters bruh! Now, if only one of those happens to be Kairi...
Looks like we're finally getting that Kingdom Hearts anime. I wonder who that is in the promo art though. Doesn't look like Sora. I wanna say who I think it is, but I'd rather not jump to conclusions. Also...
Please no more news tonight bruh. I gotta work in the morning lol.
So, CoCo is the first world to be shown off. I've never seen the movie but based on what little I know of it, it makes sense given what maybe happening with Sora in the story. Also, Sigurd is the third party member??? Did NOT see that coming at all given how punchable cartoonishly evil his face looks lol.
Hehe...
Been going through images of leaked skeletal mesh models for KHML NPCs
And the more I do, the more the realization that this game would have been the most unrunnable mobile app to come out of SE.
The Mean amount of Tris (simplest type of polygon) for the Characters (that I have the ability to see) in the game were 15,701, this was the mean out of 28 different skeletal meshes.
15,000 is the average amount of Tris for Player Characters in Mobile games, and thats on the high end.
Standard NPCs usual hit around 5,000 – 10,000 tris
Freya alone has 26,160 tris, that is pushing double for what main characters usually have in 3D mobile games
Nept had 20,884.
Remus had 16,671
I think the game got canned because they just couldn't feasibly run it on a standard phone.
(Which brings up the question at to why they scrapped it completely, when they had as many assets as they did done or close to, instead of either A) Making this a console game or B) doing something like they did with back cover)
^ (the answer is probably the lack of continuous profit from any gacha system in the game)
Oh. So that shit is real then. Gotta say I am even more interested in whatever story and lore-wise was supposed to happen in KHML now. The part where the astronauts suddenly appear in Quadratum after getting bodied battling that Leviathan Darkside though... If that means what I think it means, then the lore surrounding Quadratum and this* Scala ad Caelum is about be fuckin' wild.
What the fuck is happening right now? People are dropping KHML leaks left and right. Some people are saying the leaks are real, and some people are saying they're AI. Niggas on 4-chan are arguing over this. There's even people coming at Damo for some reason. I don't know what to believe right now.
All I know is I just saw something that may or may not have confirmed one of my theories (if any of this is even real). Also, Blaine looks exactly like I thought he would - fire.
Since PlayStation is currently self-sabotaging themselves, I'll give my thoughts on where I think things are headed next generation. First off, the PlayStation 6 is going to bomb at launch. Not "bomb" in the sense that no one will buy it, because there are people who will - it'll be shiny new tech after all, but it'll have the lowest and smallest install base of of any console launch in history. And not just because of the price. Everything that's been happening over the past six years, and what will follow hereafter, will contribute to this.
They're going to have a hard time trying to market that thing to people. As if I've said before, hardware and performance doesn't win people over anymore. It's expected. Not to mention the price alone will turn people away if its anywhere near $1,000. The real challenge will be player migration - getting people to migrate over to the PS6. There are still people who REFUSE to leave the PS4 and given recent events, it's going to stay that way. Same for the people with the PS5. There will be no incentive for people to crossover. I'm not paying $1,000 for a new console that's likely 5%-10% better than what I have. Simply living is beyond affordable right now. Shit is not cheap.
Their decision to end production of physical games has done more damage to the PS6 than they could've imagined. It's obvious by this point that the PS6 will be digital-only which not only fucks over people who collect physical games, but alienates a portion of their customers internationally. We haven't gotten to a point where internet is 100% globally. There are still countries that have zero or poor internet. How are they supposed to play and buy games now? Fuck them, I guess?
Then, there's the PS5 Pro which till this day I believe was unnecessary. The fact that the Pro exists is enough to prevent people from wasting their money on a PS6 especially when there will hardly even be a noticeable gap between them. If people need a new PlayStation, they'll like just opt for the PS5 Pro assuming it'll be a slightly (and I mean ever so slightly) cheaper option by then. It'll still have a disc drive until they stop producing them. And trust me, that's definitely going to happen.
The only thing they can rely on is games and if it's portable. But being portable won't help either. There are too many options plus they're not outdoing Nintendo in their own space. They tried before. That leaves games. And games will be VERY important next generation. They can't repeat what they did with the PS5. We were stuck in a global pandemic. The world literally stopped for a couple years. They can't reboot and remaster their way out. They'll need new games.
Given the current climate, gaming will be dominated by live-service and indies. Most of those games are available everywhere. All they'll have left is their doomed-to-fail live-service initiative and whatever PlayStation Studios is able to put out. Even then, things are bleak. Development cycles of AAA games are only going to get longer and more costly. So, you're likely not to see many AAA games coming next gen. They'll have to invest in any partnerships they can and/or go heavy with indies.
Even then, with they way things are, what game development studio in their right mind would WANT to be acquired now? You're telling me that a studio I and my team built over the course of several years can get shut down within the blink of an eye? And I have no say in it? Nah, fuck that. You buggin'. I'd rather risk being independent and failing because at least then I can end it on my own terms. I can only imagine the amount of distrust that studios have for publishers right now.
The PlayStation 6 is in a lose-lose situation. It's likely going to get to a point where they'll have to rebrand it within two years of it's life cycle. Do I hope any of this happens? No, but this is what it's looking like. Like I said, this next generation will be a humbling experience not just for PlayStation but the entire gaming industry. Everything is changing.
“The “Xbox” brand is going to be phased out and replaced with Microsoft Gaming over the next ten years. It won’t happen immediately though. There will still be another Xbox in 2028-29, but it’ll be the last Microsoft gaming console called an “Xbox”. “...Next is the Activision-Blizzard merger. I think they’re beginning to feel the aftereffects of that now. I wouldn’t be surprised if within the next five-ten years they start auctioning off IP and studios.” “With game development costs ballooning to unimaginable heights, chip and RAM shortages and many other factors, they’ll cut their losses wherever they can. Same goes for PlayStation.”

I wrote this a couple months ago and look at what's happening now. Thing is, I've had this feeling for years. Many others have felt the same. The writing has always been on the wall. It's just gotten to the point we can't ignore it. And no, PlayStation ain't off the hook either. What I'll say is this: they better not reveal that damn PS6 this year (especially after the current fiasco) because if they do, man...
