“I haven’t done anything in years, so trust me when I say I’ll stay away.” He mumbled with a roll of his eyes before he shifted closer to Skylar. “Lets get out of here, I’m done talking to this shadowhunter.” He said as he eyed Lydia once more.
@supernaturaldisasterx
The blonde nodded at her parabatai’s words “We’re going to keep looking after each other” she nodded with a smile “You know that means I’m your babysitter, right, Lyds?” she chuckled as a teasingly smile appeared on her lips. Skylar looked at the warlock. “I’m sorry but I’m not going with either of you now” she said looking at her father before she looked at Lydia.
@l-branwell
Lydia rolled her eyes at Seamus’ promises - they meant nothing to her. But she soon turned back to Skylar, rolling her eyes at her as well. “I don’t need a babysitter, Sky. I know how to play nice.” She shrugged innocently. Still, she sighed, her shoulders slumping a little to hear that Skylar wouldn’t come with her if she asked. Pinching the bridge of her nose, she shook her head. “I suppose I’ll go and look for Alec... I’ll leave you alone, if that’s what you want.”

Seamus watched the two of them together, trying to see the appeal. After a moment he just looked away and waited for them to be finished. “And you think she isn’t safe with me, Branwell?” He asked a bit sharply.
.
Skylar closed her eyes as the blonde pressed her forehead against hers and took a deep breath. She was not used to any kind of affection, but Lydia murmuring words back to her was something she needed. The shadowhunter smiled at her. “I’ve been twenty-two years keeping myself safe, I’ll be alright no matter what, what would you do without me, then” she said as a chuckle left her lips. Then she turned to look at her father “You already know what she’s going to say, why do you even ask, dad?” she said as a soft smile appeared on her face. “You two are not going to make things easy, no?”
@l-branwell
Lydia looked up and glared at him. She just wanted this warlock to go away and leave them to it. “No, I don’t.” She said bluntly, giving the exact answer that she was sure Skylar was expecting her to. She looked back at Skylar, trying to reel in her urge to punch him in the face. “Exactly. It’s my job to keep you safe, just as much as it’s yours to keep me safe.” She said softly, taking a deep breath and taking a step back. Not wanting to look at his smug face. “He stays out of my way. But if something is brought to my attention, I’m duty-bound to report it.”

“I’m not out to get you, Branwell. I never was.” He spat back, shifting closer to Skylar. “You okay, Skylar?” He asked gently as he placed a hand on her shoulder wanting to make sure his daughter wasn’t too upset.
@supernaturaldisasterx
“I thought that too” she said looking at the other blonde “But… we were wrong” she said looking at her parabatai as she lowered the blade. “Thanks” she said in a whisper, letting out all the air she had been holding. “Lydia, you know that no-one is taking me away from you” she said looking at her parabatai. “For whither thou goest, I will go” she said looking at Lydia, she was her parabatai, she would never let anyone taking her away. Never. “I could be doing worse” she sighed. “Two seconds without seeing you two and you wanted to kill yourselves” she said looking at her father “What’s wrong with you two?”
@l-branwell
.
At the utterance of their oath, Lydia placed her hands on Skylar’s upper arms, pressing their foreheads together and closing her eyes, taking in a deep, centring breath, murmuring the words back to her. She wasn’t public with her devotion to her parabatai, not like Alec and Jace were, but she still cared for her deeply. She just felt actions spoke louder than words. “I just want you staying safe.” She whispered.

Seamus was surprised to learn that his daughter’s parabatai was none other than Lydia Branwell, it’s not that he hated Lydia, he just despised her. That’s all. “No, she’d risk it for her father.” He said, his tone perhaps a bit too smug, but he didn’t care at the moment, the little blonde shadowhunter had pissed him off.
@supernaturaldisasterx
.
Skylar took a deep breath as she heard Lydia’s words, she didn’t know any of that, she was just shocked. “Lydia, you don’t know how much I would love to change that” she said looking at the blonde “I’m not trying to get in anyone’s side, but I can’t see my parabatai and my father like this” she said looking at them. “Stay away from each other” she repeated. “NOW”
@l-branwell
Lydia glared at Seamus’ words, her eyes narrowing. “You’re a liar, her parents are dead.” She snapped. But then Skylar spoke before she could get any other words from the warlock, seeming to confirm his words. Her heart raced as she stared at the other nephilim, lost for words. Her arm shook as she lowered the blade, still glaring at him. “You trying to take away everything that matters to me, Bennett?” She spat, bitterly. She wouldn’t show how hurt she was. She refused to let him see.

As soon as the angel blade touched his throat he hissed as it began to burn him, causing him to wrench back violently and glare at her, “I’m warning you, Branwell. Keep pushing and you’ll end up with your fiancé, and yes, that is a threat. I don’t care anymore. You shadowhunters want to say you’ve changed, maybe some of you have. But most of you don’t know how to let go of the past.” He snarled. “And that will be your downfall eventually.”
@supernaturaldisasterx
.
The shadowhunter stood there, not really knowing what to do. “Lydia, put that blade away” she repeated a little louder now. Her eyes moved to the warlock as he talked, she swallowed against the lump of her throat. “You two are going to stay away from each other for now on” she said looking at Lydia “Put the blade down, now” she said looking at her “I don’t wanna push you away Lydia, you know I don’t want to but if you don’t move I will have to” she said chewing she lower lip, feeling nervous for the first time in years.
@l-branwell
.
Lydia’s arm shook, not at the threat, but at Skylar’s tone, and she stared at her, speechless. “What has got into you??” She said, incredulous. “We had him in for questioning over a demon hideout and he refused to speak! He was responsible for the deaths of nephilim, and you’re defending him over me?! Your own parabatai?! You’d risk that bond for a warlock?”
@magicaeseamus

When the blade hovered over his throat Seamus glared at her, his hands trembling as he began to focus in on his magic. “Get that thing away from me.” He seethed lowly.
.
Skylar was wandering around the carnival, as she had been doing all night when she spotted a well known golden hair. Lydia. The shadowhunter approached to her parabatai, noticing she was not alone, she holding a blade to someone’s throat. As her eyes met her father the blonde walked just to stand closer to the blonde. “What’s going on here?” she asked looking at her parabatai “Why don’t you get that blade away, Lydia?” she asked calmly crossing her arms over her chest just waiting for Lydia to get that thing away from her father.
.
“Why should I?” Lydia glared, moving to press it to his throat, so that the other could feel the blade against his skin. Hearing the voice of Skylar though she paused, not taking her eyes off of the other until she heard her request. “What? No. Sky, he was responsible for my fiance dying, he needs to pay for his silence, for letting it happen. He knew he was walking into a death trap, and he said nothing!”
@magicaeseamus
magicaeseamus:
“That’s too bad, I intend on sticking around. There’s someone important here in town.” He said with a shrug as he looked around to see if he could spot his daughter. “So if you’ll excuse me I’d much rather be looking for her than dealing with you.”
.
“I don’t care who you’re conspiring with in this town, undoubtedly it’s to screw someone else over, so both you and them can get out of here.” She hissed, finally lifting her blade to hold it to his throat. “The Clave was far too lenient on you.”
magicaeseamus:
Seamus merely raised an eyebrow at Lydia, he was growing exhausted by her little temper tantrums. “Miss Branwell, don’t you ever grow tiresome of being so exhausting all the time?” He asked with a smirk and tilt of his head. “Besides, your little institute doesn’t run this town, you don’t have authority to run me off.”
.
She only glared harder at his smirk. At the sickening attitude that she could only see as pride that he got away with what he knew. What she knew he had to have known.
“I don’t give a crap about whether I have authority or not, I want you gone. And one way or another, I will make sure that happens, Bennett, I swear. You disgust me.”

While Lydia found it interesting watching how mundanes celebrated this strange holiday, she still didn’t understand it herself. Why did you need one specific day to show the person you wanted to be with for the rest of your life how you felt about them?
Still, seeing a couple sharing a large candyfloss, a woman giggling as her partner dabbed some of it on her nose, kissing it to get it off, she felt a pang in her chest. The pain of losing John lessened over time, but it never truly went away. She wasn’t sure she’d been truly happy since she’d lost him.
So it was bad timing that it was that precise moment she spotted Seamus Bennett. She pulled her blade from her pocket, hissing it’s name as she rushed over, shoving him hard.
“I think I made it plenty clear that you should leave this town. I’m done being nice about it.”
alphakage:
There was something very off about Lydia’s worry. Her pulse, her scent—Scott could understand being nervous, but she was a Shadowhunters, patrolling to keep townies safe shouldn’t had been too nerve wracking? Then she went and made an odd comment that thrusted Scott deeper into a confused state.
Apparently, however, Lydia caught on to his overwhelming confusion. “I think so? Or maybe I am? Last thing I knew, Saint Valentine wasn’t exactly bad?” He furrowed his eyebrows. “I thought his only crime was being a Christian in the Roman Empire? … Liam is better at history than I am though…” He trailed off before looking back up at the Shadowhunter. “He’s meant to be a patron of love?”
.
Listening to Scott’s explanation, Lydia’s face fell, a slight red tinge to her cheeks at the slow realisation that crossed her. She scanned her memory to her youth, to reading books on angels, on saints, and she let out a heavy sigh.
“Oh.” She rubbed her face, shaking her head at herself, because... she hated looking stupid, but she should’ve known they weren’t celebrating the alternative. “My apologies. Valentine Morgenstern was an extremely dangerous Shadowhunter. He tried to cause an uprising, tried to destroy all supernatural creatures... It’s in our recent history, so the wounds are still fresh.” She smiled, apologetically. “Saint Valentine makes a lot more sense. Though that does make me wonder why you wanted to see me?”

Of Saints and Skywalkers [Scott||Lydia]
@l-branwell
Scott was walking out of the loft building when the Shadowhunter met him up. If there was on thing that the True Alpha had learned was that it was true: although a lone wolf dies, the pack survives. There was power in unity, and Lydia—whom he had been corrected was a Shadowhunter and not a Skywalker—had shown him a great kindness and seemed a good ally. Plus, the Shadowhunters were supposed to be Protectors, same as his pack.
Although Malia and Scott had planned a night out at the beach, the flyers—along with the hundreds of concerned text messages he received as others saw the flyer—caused their plan to change. Patrolling the carnival and it’s surroundings seemed the right route to take, prompting the Alpha to make the appropriate calls. He almost hesitated, but he was dialing her number before he could, deciding to ask Lydia to meet with him. Scott was sure the Sheriff and his department would do their best, and he trusted and had faith in his packmates as well as Chris and Deaton. The Shadowhunters added to the mix could only make it even safer for everyone and that’s what they were all shooting for last he’d checked.
“Hey, thanks for coming,” he greeted Lydia with a smile as he handed her the flyer. “Like I was saying, it’s just… it doesn’t seem right. The more help we have to make sure nothing bad happens, the better.”
.
Lydia hadn’t been expecting to hear from the werewolf, honestly. She figured he’d reach out if he was in crisis, or if the pack was in danger, but to be called and asked to meet him, she wasn’t sure what to expect.
Showing up outside of the carnival grounds, she frowned down at the flyer, shaking her head. She’d seen them around town, and just looking at them turned her stomach.
“Anything with Valentine’s name on it is going to be something bad, Scott. You don’t understand. Even I don’t understand what’s happening, why people are celebrating someone like that.” Seeing Scott’s confused face she pulled her own, crossing her arms across her chest. “Is there... Something I’m missing?”
supernaturaldisasterx:
Talking with someone while they were fighting with swords was not the most clever thing ever, but Skylar and Lydia just seemed not to be aware of the fact that anyone would put the weapons down just to have a normal conversation, that was not what the two blonde’s were doing tho. “So…” she said moving quickly away from Lydia “How’s everything going?” she asked before walking closer to her once again moving her sword, just to make it collide with the other female’s one. “You missed losing? This is why you’re trying to distract me talking while we train?” she smirked. @l-branwell
.
Lydia panted, knowing she wasn’t on her game today, a lot going on in her mind. She’d been trying to find out about the missing people, to try and get a lead that the mundanes might have missed, but there was nothing. And on top of that, her conversation with Magnus was still on her mind. “You wish...” She panted, grabbing a bottle of water and downing almost half of it. Closing the lid, she cleared her throat. “Have you... spoke to Magnus lately? He came to me, asking some questions about you.”
daretoenter:
“ i’ll be honest with you, i have no idea.” cami scratches her forehead, just something else she doesn’t entirely understand. “ where i am from we don’t have holidays, i heard that it’s a another gift giving holiday. whatever that means.”
.
Lydia scraped a hand through her hair, stressed. “We have holidays, but not ones named after genocidal maniacs.” She frowned, folding her arms over her chest again. “Giving gifts for weddings and birthdays make sense. Why do you need anything else?”
daretoenter:
“ that’s the funniest thing i’ve ever heard ! i don’t even know valentine’s day was a thing.” it still didn’t make complete sense to cami, but then again it wouldn’t. “ so you give gifts to people ? “
.
“With a name like that, it shouldn’t be a thing.” Lydia frowned, concerned. “What is it? And why is it called that? I’ve seen all the posters, but it doesn’t explain.”
sparklymagicman:
“You can’t remember?” Magnus frowned, eyes still locked on the idyllic family before them. Maybe that was it. Valentine had somehow spelled a good part of Idris. Twisted memories, fogging over anything anyone would have seen as suspicious. Seamus had always been good at memory magic. It was the perfect snub – Valentine had been cruel enough, petty enough.
“Skylar and Gabriel Thowlett were kidnapped when Skylar was only one.” “Her mother – Imogen.” Magnus could still remember her teasing smile. How she had often lectured him on keeping an open mind. “Was murdered as she attempted to stop the Circle from taking them.” Magnus looked up at Lydia. “Her father, in all of the ways that counted, was… is a centuries-old friend. He came to me.” Magnus raised his free hand, his wrist circling smoothly around a blue cloud as a faded photograph appeared at his fingertips. “We could never find them.” They had thought they were dead.
Magnus gazed down at the photo, one of the few that survived the Circle’s purge of the Thowlett-Bennet home. “To think the Circle just… took them to Idris.” Magnus shook his head. He had known that Valentine had corrupted the very heart of the clave. He had watched Alec and Jace tear down the corruption with their own hands. “No one the wiser.”
.
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to be remembering. Her parents died on a mission, that’s all. She was only a baby at the time.” She shrugged, shaking her head. She was about to start yelling at him about being intentionally vague, when he explained what was going on - Skylar was kidnapped as a baby.
“She was raised by a downworlder?” She said, blinking - she couldn’t assume it was a warlock, after all, Magnus had plenty of friends of all types that could fit the definition of a centuries-old friend.
“Have you talked to her about it?” She asked, hugging herself, about ready to run to the coffee shop to find her if she had to. “There’s probably still plenty the Circle did that we’ll never truly know about. We just have to hope that all those involved have been found and punished for the part they played.” She frowned as she looked over, seeing him holding a photo. “Whose that a photo of? Her?”
alphakage:
Scott smiled kindly. There was a shift in her that made the werewolf’s heart beat less intense. His instincts had been ready for a fight the moment she had stepped into the clinic, but he’d known that if they’d spoke, perhaps a friendship could be born between them both. After all, she was a Lydia, she couldn’t be half bad.
The Shadowhunter’s offer was more than a door closing back up on the topic that was how Scott had gained his red eyes. She was offering to help the True Alpha find himself. “That would be amazing,” the werewolf admitted with a bright smile, disbelief shamelessly on his features. “I’m interesting in things like a codex, or logs… To be honest, I’ve been keeping a journal to leave behind… Half of the time, I’m not even sure what I’m doing but we always come out standing at the other end… Maybe someday, it’ll be helpful to the next True Alpha.” Scott paused, the characteristic smile melting off his features for half a heartbeat before it returned. “Just in case you come off empty handed, come collect mine if anything does happen to me, yea?” he jested. “Help out the next True Alpha.”
.
“I’m pretty sure your pack won’t let anything happen to you for a very long time yet, Scott.” She said, smiling softly. She hadn’t wanted to like him, but it was akin to talking to a puppy - how could she had animosity? “But, should anything happen, I’ll be sure to keep hold of your journals for you, make sure they’re put to good use. I’ll speak to someone higher up than me... his name’s Alec. I’m sure if there’s anything in the archives, he can help me track it down.” She nodded, confidently.
“I should let you get back to your patients. But... I’m around town for the time being, if you need anything. Me and my parabatai... my work partner, I guess you’d call her.... we’d see how we could help.
