Much like Ness, he very much prefers to go by his nickname at all times. (Unlike Ness, though, most people who know Rory actually know what his full name is.)
(And if you’re wondering about where I got his first name—that’s actually a reference to Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Yeah, his surname is obviously related to a Pokémon-themed project, but Nate himself has gone on record saying that the former game is his all-time favorite. I figured it would fit, due to the reference Ness himself is carrying.)
He only works part-time at Sparky’s, since it’s only one of his extra jobs (he has three in total). His primary job is teaching and tutoring. Yes, he is a professor/instructor at the local college; I think he would run a Zoology course, since that would technically be the closest thing to a course on Pokémon. No, college professors do not get much of a higher salary than elementary/high school teachers.
His third job happens to be in a local nerd-shop. Think something along the lines of EntertainMART or Hastings (RIP); a place for video games, movies, music, comics/graphic novels, etc.
He’s way more introverted than Ness, but he can still handle waiter stuff pretty well…even if he has a HUGE case of Resting Bitch-Face. Sometimes that’s unintentional. When it’s intentional, though, he doesn’t really try to hide it. He knows that it should be basic, common knowledge that most restaurant jobs are hell on earth, much like retail. So, he’s often left surprised and aggravated when certain customers get all offended by the fact that he doesn’t smile every waking second.
Ironically, he’s not very confrontational, so he usually doesn’t snap back at rude customers like Ness does, despite the former encouraging him to, since he’ll have his back for any problems. (Although, to be fair, Ness usually doesn’t swear up a storm when he defends himself, whereas Rory definitely would, if his venting in the breakroom is anything to go by.)
He takes pride in having the most tattoos out of Sparky’s entire staff, and he doesn’t give a single damn when some customers pearl-clutch at the sight of them. (Yeah, I know they’re not pictured here, and I’m not blaming the artist for that, but irl Nate has such a cool tattoo collection, so his characters just always have them in my head.)
He claims to have predicted that Ness and Mike would get together sooner or later—to the point of supposedly setting up bets as to when it would happen. Ness is pretty sure Rory is just joking, but he also wouldn’t put it past him.
He very much prefers night-shifts, since they tend to have less customers to deal with, plus more unrestricted access to playing music. However, his sleep-schedule was already garbage, and he can't afford for it to impact his other jobs too much, so...Thankfully, Ness usually signs up for shifts of various times, so he's usually there to chat with Rory when they get a chance. (Sometimes, during really slow nights, Rory might tag along with Ness to hang out when Ness' regular-friends come in to eat.)
