For the younger fans who are unaware. In the early to late 2000’s, gay ships were looked down upon, not because they were pairings but because they were Gay. And liking or worse (gasp!) being anything remotely queer was treated as Ultra Bad and Wrong. Saying something was “Gay” was the greatest insult of disapproval.

So those that liked homosexual pairings used code words to talk about their favorite pairings in art and writing.

One of those was the word Lemon.

That’s why a lot of openly/or queer coded characters drawn during this time period have random lemons in their backgrounds, in boarder art, or as a motif.

That, or it’s a product placement.

That's interesting! I only knew of the lemon as part of the citrus scale (from FPcom/FFnet/LJ days), which is an indicator of smut level of a fic 🫣

However, for this case, it is not a product placement but a symbol of the magazine

The magazine where this lemon image was featured is called ザテレビジョン (The Television), whose symbol is a lemon indicating the magazine's goal to deliver fresh (as a lemon) information. This was their practice since its founding in 1982 (source)

Kuroshitsuji Character Sheets

All of the various character sheets/renders for the various Kuro characters I've been able to find so far (roughly about 300 currently, mostly outfit sketches). I tried my best to find the highest quality for each image (please excuse the 15 years of jpeg crust on some of them). As with all my archive stuff, if you know of anything I should add let me know!

Fun fact: Yana designed all of Ciel's outfits for the first two seasons, and he has nearly 40 separate designs (meanwhile Sebastian only gets like 9 rip).
