its not heat because humans dont go in heat but there's a measurable shift in hormones (of course) which in many cases results in measurable cognitive and behavioral changes. during ovulation, women become more concerned with finding a more evolutionary fit mate, so there's an increase in thoughts about extra-pair copulation, as well as in increase in extra-pair copulation (which is basically science lingo for cheating, in the context of most human relationships).

the linked study is from 1998, involved a tiny sample size, was not double blinded or randomized , and has been fully, fully debunked by multiple failures to replicate with much larger samples since then 🙄
