I made it to another #wip Wednesday
It’s definitely in the “trust the process” stage
Also there are so many ways to work around difficult curves and I seem to have found ways to mess up all of them

Usually it’s the silk that rebels but today it was the linen
Twice
Also, I actually started taking lace notes! Good luck to me
First Finished Projects Friday of the New Year! Sorry for being late but please post your finished projects and let me hype you! (Holiday parties, ironic “2025” answers etc stuff included!) Here’s to finishing and hyping 2026!
I’ll start: I finally finished my first numbered leaves! Celebrating 100 members in the lace discord (which happened six months ago… whoops!)
Here they are, pre-blocked by freshly pressed!
Congratulations to the lace discord!
“Lace can be displayed for hundreds of years…” and that is why I am currently outlining a sketch of my dog
Finished Object Friday is here!
Show me your objects, let me hype you!
I still have to finish buttonholing the knot edging but I was so excited I had to call it! (Plus it’s supplemental)
My sample piece for one of the many projects I am currently catching up on is finally done! I was really upset with all my mistakes (as is probably visible, mostly in the working order, so at least my tension has improved) but I was also super excited because it meant I could practice knot stitch edging guilt-free!
Notes on Antwerp stitch: I have worked with a variety of stitches and, so far, this is HANDS DOWN the most vibes-based. It’s putting a buttonhole in the side of another buttonhole, and it’s as finicky as it sounds. Luckily, it is only so difficult as putting a buttonhole in the side of another buttonhole. No more, no less.
I’m happy to have learned what that weird stitch used as a seam allowance on lace (I would think so it’s easier to move from article to article—and also so the stitches don’t show) is, it’s *haunted* me because I KNOW twisted buttonhole isn’t strong enough to be edging
Two important notes I will you with:
1. Aim is EXTREMELY important in this stitch. Make sure to keep the needle against the corner of the prior stitch when pulling back up.
2. Inevitably, the primary buttonhole will come loose. It will seem like you can pick up your finger from holding the stitch and fix the tension. That’s the devil talking. This can become a REAL KNOT!!! If the original stitch is coming too loose, START OVER.
Really excited for a project I have planned. I might even do a tutorial to go with it!
Finished Fridays!!! Show me what you have completed 🤩 Let me hype you!
I just finished this before an appointment this morning! I also just put a hole in my favourite t shirt (which is space themed) so I’m thinking I might put the next sample star to use for visible mending
I am so excited for how this is turning out! I’m also really excited to take more risks with the cordonnet!
There’s a new stitch I’ve been loving as a border but it doesn’t work with embroidery floss—the ply is loose, so the thread will unply and knot and I will have to cut it out. I’m really excited to use it in other projects so I can show it off though!
I *loved* the look of the maroon thread but it doesn’t show up well on camera and the variegated thread looks *much, much* better as the border than I expected!
I might post some initial sketches of the project I got it for so people can see how I envisioned the final product
I sped up this process for financial reasons but those actually cleared up naturally so I think I’m going to design a final product for this and go back to working on my other long-term projects if people aren’t interested in this (and that’s fine, also). I was really planning to do this in tandem with the project it’s leftover from and I’m glad to experiment and share results.
I’ll be updating on this as well as well as posting progress reports on my long-term projects soon!
Partial repost from lace community and BlueSky
Also I tried a method to make the cordonnet look more messy (was going for tufted yarn) but I’m not sure I like it
Doing something for fun and for profit (hopefully)
repost from the lace community
Currently I am working on needle lace greeting cards so I have professional-ish samples to show as well as Christmas gifts (I will be posting some non-personal photos of the sketches when I am more proud of them)
But first I’m swatching threads and fabrics and it’s… well it’s going
Since I’ve been using my blog as a main blog anyways despite my general dislike of social media—things just keep happening (like people googling “what are tariffs” a week after casting their votes… please vote for educational funding at your earliest opportunities) I decided to make a dedicated blog since I kind of need progress photos atm
