cecilya was on a mission and while it may not have been a very good or very important one considering everything that was going on in vertmoor, it was of great importance to her alone. even azra probably wouldn’t care if she knew and yet cecilya was out there doing the lords work and trying to unite the town for the part- wait, baby shower of the century. it was going to be an unforgettable event whether people liked it or not so they might as well turn up if they were going to be around.
“i’ve been looking for you,” she said as she appraoched the person meaning business, it was important to her to get certain people to be present. after all… they were linked by dna to the child that was soon to be brought into the world and although she still resented her sister she saw an opportunity to give them a lifeline to hang onto when they realised how tumultuous both families were. in a sense, these two were outsiders and should be in the fold just enough if they were ever needed, “i’m throwing a baby shower and i thought you might like to come. i know it’s kind of awks how it all happened but it’ll be fun and you can’t really undo the dna sharing on this one. we’re going to be family soon.”
verity was a good person. she was a kind person, she was caring, and she typically sought to see the best in people. these were not traits she inherited from her invisible ATM of a parent, they were things she learned from and because of her own mother. she liked cecilya after their single coffee meeting, however azra was a different story. not only did the woman conduct herself in a manner that instantly gave her the heebie jeebies; she trusted her brothers more than anything in this world. roman’s outburst was rooted from somewhere, and she had reason enough to believe him without much question.
for cecilya to approach her and miles though, the two ‘biological misfits’ of vidal’s grand scheme, there was nothing she wanted more in the world than to have never learned his name. the smile that was on her face strained when the other girl revealed the real intentions for seeking the two of them out. “no.” verity says instantly, speaking before miles could even get the chance to whip out some smart remark. a hand is raised to keep the other from talking before she can explain herself, “cecilya, i like you, i think we could be really good friends. so i’m saying this kindly, fuck no.” the word feels foreign in her mouth, but is the only way she can think to express her feelings to this entire situation. “i already want to be involved in this as little as possible. once everyone is done playing inspector gadget i’m never going to set foot in that house again.”
