let’s say for one second that i bought into that whole true selves nonsense

you don’t think that Adrien and Ladybug, being public figures who are constantly being scrutinized (especially Ladybug where anything she does wrong is amplified and even Tikki acts like she’s at fault when she isn’t) won’t love talking to someone who fucking gets it?

one absolutely losing their mind because for once they want to make a mistake and not have people act like it’s the end of the world

and the other being like, fuck yeah, amen, preach.

True Selves is a terrible argument for anything but if you want to talk about an opportunity to turn that shit on its head the answer isn’t by throwing Ladybug and Adrien away as false personas but recognizing that Marinette/Ladybug and Adrien/Chat Noir are complicated and teenagers and that Ladrien offers a fucking great way to explore that dynamic not by acting like they don’t see “the real them” and angsting about it but by spending time with people they already thought were awesome and also seeing that holy shit this person gets it. That’s not angst, that’s support. That’s not shallow, it’s a connection.

Ladrien is good and wholesome and under-utilized and i will not stand for its slander.
